Sequels Official Gambit Casting/Speculation Thread [merged-6]

Halle's definetely improved her tastes since tht dreadlock character. :)

Man Halle berry's Boyfriend would make a good Gambit. And his girlfriend is already part of the cast so his foots already in the door. I think he' s a model. Gabriel something. The Irony is that storm discovered gambit in the comics too lol.

:wow: :wow: this guy is more Gambit than any other actor named here before. Really. Want to see more pics of him. Interesting...

he isnt an actor,he's halle berrys canadian model bf

I'm not really impressed with Halle's boyfriend's look for Gambit. Yeah, he's good looking but he's no Gambit.

if you tell me Josh Holloway looks more like Gambit like him, there is nothing more to say.

if he was infact an actor, i'd agree, he's just a male model, he doesn't have a singel acting credit, not even a tv show cameo

halloway doesnt look like gambit, aubry looks more like gambit than josh,i also have that pic of gabriel from the people mag with 100 most beautiful people

I know guys, all of us want an actor, but in the wait of X4, we enjoy see possible looks for the role.

I'm working with the costume, but this is enough to have an idea:

not bad? what do you expect with the eyes? artificial fires?

jeez calm down it was a compliment,it means its good, jeez calm down, say thank you at least

hahaha, I'm calm. Just saw funny your comment. And glad you like it. It's simple anyway.

I don't want Josh Holloway either. I read the article from the Breath of Fresh Ink link about him being tipped to play Gambit. I heard he didn't want the role when it was supposedly offered to him for X-3.

What is with this notion of Gambit being too similar to Wolverine? For us readers of the comic book, the difference is obvious. For one thing, Wolverine in the comics is not 6'3" and gorgeous like Hugh Jackman. (By the way, Mr. Jackman is a song and dance man with a beautiful voice. How 'bout X-Men the musical? It would be X-tremely funny to have Wolverine and everyone break into song in the next film. I already have Gambit's song with Rogue made up.):cwink:

It's not just in phisicality. Wolverine is snarky and angsty. Gambit is charismatic and carefree (although he has plenty of stuff in his past).

Not to mention he's a wise ass and people LOVE wiseassery. In fact, except for Wolverine, the movies have a serious deficiency when it comes to wiseass one-liners.

And Gambit has a cool power damnit. What annoys me more about Gambit being compared to Wolverine personality wise (which I can understand, since they're both superheroes) is that people compare Gambit's powers to Cyclops. The only similarity is that they use kinetic energy. How they use it is completely different.

Gambit has the most potential out of the X-men to be popular among the teens and late teens. In every medium that has ever adapted the X-men storyline, as long as he's been written well, Gambit was popular. In the comics, in the cartoons. I'm certain he would be just as loved if he ever was in a movie.

So it's still a shock to me that he hasn't been in a movie yet. He's literally a gold-mine of a character.

I think the best is the one posted before. Is the most Gambit.

Don't stop hoping Zach, there will be more X-Men films. I can't say when, but of that you can be sure. And Gambit will definitely be in a future X-film.

Yes, LadyVeder, I'm shocked Gambit wasn't in any of the first three movies. But with what they did to Rogue, I fear they might have short-changed him as well. The plots were off from the comic book in many respects. It didn't really feel like the X-Men.

I've been a Gambit fan ever since his inception by Chris Claremont. It's a rare thing to see a representation of Cajuns in popular culture. Even though Remy is a gross exaggeration of a stereotype, he was still a role model (of sorts) for young people of the ethnic group to look up to.

That being said, a part of me is deeply relieved that he has yet to make an appearance in the films. Bryan Singer seems to exist to ruin franchises, and the third movie wasn't much better off without him. Brett Ratner can't seem to grasp the concept of a compelling storyline, and instead makes up for his lack of vision with explosions. All of that, and both wished to use Gambit as little more then a throw away character.

No, I'd rather wait until a director is attached who not only knows the material, but has grown up with it. I'm sure somewhere out there exists a director who will do all the characters justice and make an X-Men movie, not poorly constructed Wolverine flicks.

I can say with great joy that Hugh Jackman will not return for part four. Don't get me wrong, he made a great Wolverine and I look forward to seeing the spin off, but with his absense whoever takes over might just look beyond one character and focus on the team.

Thus far many actors have been attached for the role, including Channing Tatum and Greg Helms. I don't know if this has been covered or not, but in every interview since the release of X-Men 3, Lauren Shuler Donner has promised Gambit for X-Men 4 and is very certain that the actor portraying him will be Josh Holloway. Yes he's been offered the role before. Yes he turned it down, but it was from schedule confliction, not lack of interest.

Personally, I support the decision. Nightcrawler and Gambit are the two characters who change the most when it comes to artistic interpretation, and he fits most of the descriptions (height, build, etc.). Not only that, but it's evident that he can play dynamic characters such as Gambit.

It takes more then a passing resemblance, and big names tend to mean big egos (Halle Berry's tantrum about Storm comes to mind). We need...after the previous crap stamped with an "X"...we deserve a fan to play the roles who aren't afraid to correct a director when his "vision" interferes with the material. For instance, Thomas Jane has refused to do a Punisher sequel unless it is written in the gritty and dark manner that The Punisher is intended to be (which he's getting by the way). While many fans don't like him as Frank Castle, I think that devotion makes up for whatever it is he lacks.

I'm going to spare you further rantings and wrap this up. Sorry for the lost post, but a few of the suggestions and ideas threw me. Sometimes I wonder which is more dangerous to the fanchise, the detached directors or the blood thirsty fans. If you've read this far you get a cookie and my deepest respects. By the way, I didn't notice any pics of Holloway, so I thought I'd add some (sorry for the size of the last one, but I'm too tired to resize it).

It's true that Bryan Singer wasn't an X-men fan before he made those 2 movies. He didn't really know Gambit or why people liked him but after reading some issues that featured Gambit he was convinced and he was going to use him in X-3.

How is that when Halle Berry demands a better role for her Storm (who needed a better role) she's trowing a tantrum but when Tomas Jane refuses to another Punisher movie unless it's gritty and dark he's being devoted?
