Sequels Official Gambit Casting/Speculation Thread [merged-6]

Josh Holloway is THE choice for this role. He plays a very Gambit-esque character on "Lost." I agree that this role should not be filled by some talentless pretty boy. The person who plays Gambit will likely be playing a, if not THE key character in the film and will need the acting chops to carry a major motion picture. Holloway has those chops as we've seen on Lost. Given, he is not the lead on Lost per se, but he's got real presence. His rugged look, his attitude, his smirk, hell even his backstory on Lost make me think of Gambit every single time I watch that show. I'ts as if Abrams and Lindelof wrote Gambit into their script. If you agree, spread the word on all of the boards. We've got to get this guy cast, we can!
nubbies:woot:

anyway,no hes almost friggin 40 for god sakes

for a younger gambit, here's a odd, kinda cray, thought, for someone, I’ll say is known
but, not overly popular, maybe alil under rated
(but I think, might fit in alright with the younger cast members, Anna, Shawn...)
the middle Lawrence brother, Matthew, I think, he's gotta be like in his mid to late 20's now

btw:
it's not about actually age its about what age you can play, different people, look either old or younger then there age, (Aaron (pyro) is 30 now, so he was like 27-28 in TLS, Shawn (iceman) is 27, Anna is 24, but they all played teenagers, yes they were like 18-21ish when the first movie came out, but any new cast should look around they age, now (to fit in), if he's to be part of the younger generation, though, I kinda think he should be alil old then them (i mean the character)
just saying
For a random suggestion, I'm actually kind of liking it.

im actually liking him for gambit
he is coming back in a movie called the comebacks lol

Yeah, I'd gag if I saw Matthew Lawrence as Gambit. (The youngest brother dressed up as Wolverine in one episode of the Lawrence Brothers show.) Channing Tatum would probably get the role, but that Loic Gissilere guy is perfect though I highly doubt he got a chance to read for the role or ever would. That's Hollywood for you.

Gambit shouldn't be brought in as a student or as part of the younger X-Men group in the movies. He's very much a loner. He can be in a category with himself, but he has got to hook up with Rogue. I don't pay good money for nothing.:cwink:

I was just thinking....Collin Pharell??? Why not? He's got the personality, looks, and even the age.....He'd be perfect.

im starting to like channing a bit but ian is gambit for me,and no to collin

As a Gambit-Hater I'm not fond of reading through more than 200 pages, so I simply do ask my questions here.
(I know, I do move on thin ice saying that in this thread, and I'm ready to get flamed.*gg*)
Is there any believable rumor about using Gambit in a x-movie at all?
Why are you all so excited about an appearance?
What for is he "needed" in any X-story?
(I'm sooo glad his appearance was cut out of the X2-script.*gg*)

Well The way he acts the way he looks i think he is the perfect Gambit! Only thing in the way is his age.

Yeah that, and his acting abilities, his looks, basically everything someone would want in whoever would play Gambit.

No offense to the movies but I've kind of given up on the X-Movies. Until they get a production crew and cast who knows what they're doing and what makes the X-Men so popular, there's no hope for the series.

god i hate halloway,he cant act if his life depended on it

Alright whatever how about this dude he gots the body and da looks don't know about the acting though

Gambit is one of the senior members of the X-Men and has been in the series since 1990. He is very popular, of course not as popular as Wolverine and Storm and maybe one or two of the original X-Men team. They are working on including characters that were excluded from the movies, and Gambit is number one on that list. Gambit was sited to have a cameo in X-3, but it was later cut because they felt he deserved better than that. The movies lost sight of the comic and went in a strange direction. Gambit and Rogue are my two absolute favorite X-Men and the major reason I have stayed an X-Fan despite an 11-year absence from reading the comic. We're not the only ones who want Gambit in the movies, a lot of people want him in the movies, and some of the production heads and the casting director want him in the movies as well. It will happen eventually given his popularity and the fact he was a regular character in X-Men the Animated Series and appeared in many episodes of X-Men Evolution.

I wouldn't like him as Gambit. He doesn't have the face. He has the abs though but the face is more important.

ehm...Senior member?
I always thought of him as an "associated member" who tags along.
Like some brat with whom the other kids wouldn't play.^^
Being a X-Men just because he is a mutant to.^^

But you still didn't tell me WHAT he is good for (in the movie or the comic)??
I don't remember a single comic were he played an essential role.
Despite the revelation of his oh so dark past secrets...of course.
He more often was just a pain in the ass.
What makes him so popular?
Only good comics with him I remember were the Age of Apocalypse "Gambit and the Externals".
Perhaps I liked that more, because they dropped the pathetic Rogue-Lovestory therein.

Oh sheesh. Does someone else want to explain why we want Gambit in the movies? Gambit can crack any code, break-in anywhere, and escape most anything because he is a master thief by profession. He has a smart mouth, which doesn't exactly win over some people. He and Cable are the two characters who came into the series and challenged the way the X-Men do things. Gambit doesn't respect authority and often does his own thing.

He really is a senior member. He has even taught a class of students. Gambit is the outsider, who has only stayed with the X-Men for the sake of Rogue. No one has ever loved Rogue as much as he has, and he has consistently stuck by her, except for right now since he is Death. He's the only one not afraid to touch her. But, Gambit is much more than Rogue's lover, and she's much more than his lover. He is refreshingly different from the other guys on the team. Gambit is the only criminal bad boy to ever be a superhero. No other superhero wears a trenchcoat and throws burning playing cards. And he is by no means similar to Wolverine.

Gambit is good for a lot and has played an essential role in several X-Men stories and even had two solo series and two limited series before then.

I love him because he's gorgeous, has shown Rogue the greatest love she's ever known, is interesting, Cajun (He's one of only three Cajun characters to have ever appeared in comics), witty, has a heart of gold, thinks outside the box, and has done good despite being raised as a criminal and having worked for the evil Sinister. He had a choice to do good things, no one made him, and that is what makes him admirable. The same goes for Rogue. Gambit walks the line so to speak. I can't really say that for any of the other X-Men.

If that doesn't answer your inquiry, I hope one of the other posters can.:yay:

I know, Gambit get's a lot of bashing, especially in the past five years or so when the current crop of x-writers seemed to have it in for any character who was popular in the nineties. I think many comic creators are ashamed of what happened to comics in the nineties. But c'mon, lay off Gambit. He was, and remains to be, a character with depth in a sea of one dimensional Wolverine wannabes.
Let's look at Gambit. Here's a guy living on the edge, a thief, often depicted as coming up homeless and/or as a street hustler. He has a checkered past and sees using his mutant ability as an X-man as a redeeming opportunity; an opportunity to make something of himself. Hell this guy is the poster boy for the confused, disaffected and eager for purpose youth of generation X and next. People (especially teens) can relate to a guy like this, a multi faceted fellow trying to make something of himself, trying to prove himself. He's exactly the hero we need in these confusing times we live in. That is why Gambit deserves a featured spot in the next X-film, who better? Aside from all of this, he's original. His powers are like none other, he stands out. Plus he's from New Orleans, he's got that cajun yat. And, yes, he's a looker. The ladies dig him, get the right guy (who CAN act for crying out loud) and the theaters will be packed with guys and gals alike.
And yes, of course there are rumors floating of a place for the G-man in the next movie. If there weren't why would there be message boards devoted to the idea?
