Sequels Official Gambit Casting/Speculation Thread [merged-6]

Stacy X...That's it..That doesn't spell out "alot" of mutants to me, spidey..

That's the only extra minor character that has been spewed out so far that we haven't been introduced to..

Yeah, a Pyro sized role would be ideal for Remy.
Nah...Pyro was included in almost every three scenes in X2 from start to end...I'm thinking that in terms of overall screentime, that it'll be a bit more than Colossus and a little less than Cyclops (X2)...Or somewhere in between Laurio's and Deathstrike's time..

I'll be shocked if they give him more than that...

If I was Arad, I would be playing mind games with the fans for fun. It's possible....but we'll see.

Man crybabies everywhere today! Wahhhhhhh I wan't Gambit! Wahhhhhhhhhhhh! Where's by rattle. Wahhhhhh!

Well, this is the official Gambit thread...

If you're shocked to see people complaining about the apparent lack of Gambit... in a GAMBIT thread... then I don't even know what to tell you.

Either way, Arad knows the popularity of Gambit. If he's actually trying to keep him a secret from us, he's doing a bang us job. If he's not in the movie, then well then, just tell us.

There's something there....You would think by now that someone would say officially say that he's out, but we haven't heard anything, have we? It's weird. I don't want to keep my hopes too high, but there's still hope.

That's why I feel he's made it in and might have a larger role than expected...but perhaps the actor they want just can't make it to the shoot early-on..so they are waiting to reveal it later.

I still feel they'll release the info on Remy in Sept. if not at the end of Aug.

blades_shades keeps moving deeper and deeper down my list. :o

Avi and fox really need to just put us out of our misery and tell us one way or other.Since x-2 we've had yeah remy will be in x-3,then a few months ago it's like he'll be in it but a minor role, and since then it's been this no comment-he may be in it we don't know yet crap.I'm sick and tried of this just tell us fox-it's not as if you haven't made the decision by now.Plus adding crappy characters like stacy x over a much wanted characer is beyond ******ed. :down

I don't really care about height. You can always make an actor look taller.
That's right, and you cant MAKE a taller person into an Actor.. Good point seed-of-logan!

Taking it a step further, I think if Hugh Jackman just hunched-over throughout the movie, some of his critics that cry he's too tall for Wolverine wouldn't be so concerned.

Hey, anyone reckon the X-Men 2.5 DVD would have the Gambit cameo on the special features?

For marketing reasons, they should add it. Even if it's a crappy scene.

i just wanted to know, when james bamford was cast as gambit for the cameo, was everyone her going crazy saying yes gambit has made it to x-men movies like they are now?

I hate to say this, but I really don't think Gambit is going to make it. Just today I remembered that interview with Rothman where the interviewer asked is Gambit or Angel was going to be in X3 and Roth said "one of them". Now we all know that Angel is the Man in X3 and I don't think he was trying to be sly and he really meant both of them.........nah, I think he meant only Angel is going to be in the movie.

And Arad sort of backed him up in that interview where he said he didn't know. Plus, we haven't heard of anybody that has auditioned for it. We have heard countless stuff about people auditioning for Stacy X and Bishop and etc., but nobody for Gambit.

It sucks, but I think I've finally just faced up to it: Gambit isn't going to be in X3.

I thought that scene with his cameo never got filmed. It was sort of in the planning stages and they had a stunt guy set to be Gambit, but then they scrapped it before filming it.
Does anybody else know for sure?

What does Rothman know anyway? From what I know, most of the higher ups in studios DON'T read the actual scripts. IN fact, my screenwriter instructor was a 'script reader' and he would write a mini-summary and review on scripts that gets option by the studio.

Rothman doesn't know crap. Besides, the script has been changed so many times since then. Remember, that interview was back in late May or late June. I think it was even before the famous AICN script review. Right? Right?

They filmed it but it was cut. :( This what James Bamford said 2 years ago:

"I was given the part as Gambit by the director [Bryan Singer] basically for my look. I was working on the show as Wolverine's stunt double for rehearsals, and I was called in to be looked at for Gambit. I was on the set the next day shooting the scene. I could not continue to double Wolverine on film because of a rehearsal injury. The scene that I was involved in as Gambit took only one day to shoot. It was a very small part, a cameo. I did not do any screen test or audition, as I mentioned before, the director just looked at me and picked me. I have no contract for the next film and I am sure that they will re-cast the character w/ a better known actor. If the next one shoots in Vancouver again, there is a good chance that I will work on it though, in some other capacity. I would love to continue to play the role as I am an avid martial artist, one of my favorite weapons is the staff!!! I would have a lot of fun doing it, but it is most likely not in the cards though."

I don't know that I neccesarily believe that.

First of all, he could have been bull****ting. Or just replying in the manner that one of them is gonna have a big time role. Which, we all know, Angel got.

Second of all, the AICN script review, which seems to be at least remotley accurate, did have Gambit in it.

3rd of all, Kinberg has said that Gambit is in, with his "minor role" comments.

4th of all, when Penn was asked about Gambit, he had to consult with an executive producer before giving a "no comment" answer.

What do I think?

I think that Gambit is in. *BUT*, I don't think it's gonna be more than a "that Cajun looking fellow with the thick mop of hair" mention.

I've always hated that quote in the rought draft: "That Cajun looking fellow with the thick mop of hair". HOw can look "Cajin" is beyond me.

Anyway, Nell you're right. They all have sucessfully avoided answering any Gambit questions thus far. Like what I've mentioned before, why would they do that if he's not in. They addressed Nightcrawler, but not Gambit...hmmm.

I'm thinking that Arad told them all to keep the Gamibt casting/news to themselves. Something is up. Why would Zach Penn consult his producer anyway? He's the friggin' screenwriter, I'm sure he knows if he's in or not.

It's either:

A. There is something big planned for Gambit, everyone knows how much anticpation there is for Gambit, so they wanna keep it a secret

or

B. Gambit's not in it... or not in it enough to remotely satisfy the fans, and they want to avoid the backlash as long as possible

Unfortunatley, with the Gambit situation, I can't remain optimistic anymore... so I'm on the "B" line of thinking. However... you don't know how excited I'd be to come back to the forums, at about 245AM May 26th, 2006, after returning from a midnight showing, and jumping up and down with joy because it was actually "A".

B.) BUt why wait if they can reveal it now. If they wait, people will get even more PO. Aren't they smart enough to understand that?

If there's a backlash, there's a backlash. It's going to happen, no matter when they debunk Gambit (if they do, that is). They're like little kids then..

This more than anything makes me feel Gambit's in the film and may play a small but important role in the overall movie.

This is why my name is no longer Gambit :(

Don't mind him to much, long periods of exposure to stupid, rediculous and inane posts and then the sudden sharp impact of his head into the desk has left him less than sane. As well as leaving dents in his desk. :) [Ions is amused]
