I'm not sure that changes much. Eddie would still see Osborn as a threat to innocents and Osborn would still look down on Venom.

Originally, Eddie didn't truthfully give a damn about "innocents", he merely pretended to. Otherwise he would have tried to non-lethally incapacitate those who got in the way of his revenge on Spider-Man. He didn't. He just killed them.

Like I said, I was thinking about how Venom (with that characterization) and Norman would interact. I think that both would underestimate each other.
Venom would underestimate Norman's more methodical behavior, and Norman would underestimate Venom's viciousness.

No, I haven't (I quit reading after BND), but since the BND mind-wipe, the basis of Peter and Norman's arch-rivalry is gone. Norman seems to be drifting away from the Spider-Man rogues gallery, from what I have heard.

I was initially weary of Osborn moving away from Spidey's exclusive rogue gallery...but honestly, I love what they are doing with him now. The guy has reached Red Skull, Magneto and Doc Doom level and its great.

^^ Exactly, and I'm loving every minute of it. As I said, some of the many great moments are when the Goblin side is sort lurking at the surface, but not completely all there.

My problem is that since he no longer knows Peter is Spider-Man, his archenemy status has officially been compromised. Red Skull, Magneto and Dr. Doom are still the archenemies of Captain America, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four, respectively.

Ths is very true, Godzilla. Brand New Day shattered the Spider-Goblin war....still though, could have been worse. Osborn could have just been shelved as a character and ignored. While I will always miss their arch enemy status...atleast they are doing great things with the character. Now he is the worlds arch enemy!

Damned if I know. Venom as an enemy doesnt exist anymore. Octopus is on his last legs. Norman seems to have forgotten Spider-Man completely.

I may be in the minority, but I love where Doc Ock is these days in terms of how menacing he is. He really whent from being one of SPidey's arch-enemies to one of the most dangwerous foes in the Marvel Universe today.

Why are all of Spider-Man's best villains becoming general Marvel Universe villains?

The Jackal? A villain that few outside of the Spider-Man fandom have even heard of? I always thought of Jackal as Ben Reilly's archenemy, not Peter's.

Does it really matter if others have never heard of him? What seems more important are effects that a character can have, and have demonstrated to have, had on another character. Jackal only used Reilly to get to Parker. Peter was always his goal.

Who else is there? Perhaps Kraven, post resurrection. Besides him, no one else has managed to really hurt Spidey more than the Green Goblin or the other Big Three, whom we've already talked about.
