Ryan Gosling.... whichever version they use. He can pull off both clean cut and scruffy. I honestly think Gosling is the best to portray Ollie. This project sounds great, but...

I WANT BLACK CANARY DAMMIT!

Well maybe if the film does happen they can throw in a small cameo of BC.

I don't want just a small cameo, I want her as a supporting character. She could be the character on the outside trying to get Ollie out of the prison. Other than Ollie, she's the best character from the Green Arrow comic books. One thing that every single superhero film has (and virtually has to have) is a love interest. If they give him any other love interest besides BC, I will not go and see this movie. As much of a DC fan and a GA fan as I am, I will not see this in the theater or rent/buy it on dvd if they give him a love interest besides BC/Dinah. No sir.

Jennie Garth would probably make an pretty good Canary. Anyone else have a suggestion who should play her?

Not Jennie Garth. She doesn't have the acting skill to be a good Canary. :(

Jeri Ryan wasn't a bad choice.

The blonde girl from Chuck could work.

Charlize Theron could though she'd fit tonnes of comic roles from Carol Ferris to Invisible Woman.

Naomi Watts and Poppy Montgomery are other candidates.

For Black Canary:

Lori Loughlin if we're going older:

I really want an older Green Arrow like Leary or Church. But I think you could still go relatively young for Black Canary. Yvonne could be a nice BC but shes too young (26ish). Add 10 years and that would be a good age for a (relatively) younger BC if they go older for GA

I don't think I can buy him as a father though.

I'm still pushing Harrelson and Ryan. :oldrazz: Especially after reading "City Walls" just earlier. I can see them as a mom and dad (even if only surrogate) that kick ass.

I like these suggestions. Especially Theron and Montgomery.

I'd also like to suggest Law and Order: SVU's Diane Neal.

I think Elizabeth Banks would make a good Black Canary.

Savage:

Always liked Diane Neal.

She's got the potential for Canary. :D

I'm really liking this choice. These people have gotta be more than just pretty faces but intimidating mother figures. I don't want it to look like Speedy/Arsenal can date Green Arrow's woman. :oldrazz:

Yeah, I've always wanted her for Ms. Marvel but she'd make such a fantastic Canary. I keep thinking of the scene where she breaks up with Ollie (I always choose a scene to kind of audition these people in my head :oldrazz:) and this other one where she tells Ollie off after breaking up a fight between him and Hawkman and I gotta say, I'm getting excited about this movie that's not even happening. :woot:

what about scarlett johansson?.... although she's my choice for Catwoman, I think she would make a pretty kick-a** Black Canary, too.

And as far as Ollie....... I think that they need to keep all their casting within the same age range. I don't wanna see somebody that's much older than Bale and whoever it is they cast for Superman.

Why not? Bale's Batman is still in his early years. Apparently in Supermax Ollie will have been a seasoned veteran with a crapload of villains locked up in prison with him. I think it's either going to take place quite ahead of the Batman Begins/Dark Knight timeline or Green Arrow's going to have been around longer than Batman.

Which is actually something I'd love since it would make him not look like such a ripoff.

Can anyone vouch for Mike Vogel (he was in Cloverfield and on the short list to play Kirk in the new Star Trek movie)?

Eh...No...Even for a young Ollie he's a little too young (or at least babyfaced). If people want Bale age so much then they should remember that the guy's in his early 30s.

Even during Ollie's origin he's already quite an older gentleman. In fact the similarities to Iron Man's origin is almost staggering.

Most of DC heroes got their start in their mid-to-late 20s/early 30s. I think a young Ollie should be portrayed by an actor that could pass for the 26-33 age range.

Bale and Routh both look to be only in their early thirties in their films.

This guy can pass for 17. :oldrazz: Nothank you. This is not that Justice League movie where they were casting a 19 year old Batman. In Batman Begins Bruce Wayne just turned 30 (couldn't really miss the huge sign at his party). Not just that but the guy looks it. If we're taking into consideration Bale's age when casting Green Arrow then the guy shouldn't look like some amateur next to him but like someone who can hold his own against the guy.

With that said if we are going considerably young then I am all for Ethan Hawke who is only 4 years older than Bale or McConaughey who is 5 years older.

To me Ollie should be at least 10 years older than Bruce. I really love the Harrelson/Ryan Combo they're my top choice, followed closely by Dennis Leary, and Ethan Hawke, I'm trying to think who'd be a good Canary besides those two. Also, Dinah should be around Bruce's age, there should be a noticeable age difference IMO.

Can someone explain this Harrelson thing to me? Why is he so taylor-made for Ollie? I still like Peter Sarsgaard myself.

Well like I've mentioned before the man is a damn fine actor and has A LOT of charisma and I can see him making for quite a loveable Ollie. He can really be the father figure as well as hotheaded as well as a horndog and all he has to do is make that puppydog face he's known for and you just know even the audience will forgive him for his transgressions. As an actor he is pretty much everything you want for Green Arrow. Name recognition, acting credibility, charisma, and best of all he can easily pull this character off. He's one of those left field choices that make perfect sense once you see him in costume with the goatee and that curly hair grown out (and hey, according to Elongated Man Ollie wears the hat to hide his bald spot anyway :oldrazz:).
