you should check out the photos of James Brolin and David Bale (Christian's dad), when they were in their mid-30s. they look almost like twins.

If we're going older, I always thought Sean Bean would be a good choice. It would be nice to see him play a good guy for once.

After watching Sons of Anarchy I have completely changed my mind. This guy can TOTALLY play Ollie.

Ha. He really would be perfect as either Ollie or Roy. Plus he's already connected to the WB. I just didn't suggest him because he's being suggested for everything now but man would he make for a great Ollie.

Never seen Ackles with a beard before. Hope he's sporting that look for this season's Supernatural (hey, you can probably grow facial hair in hell). It's a good look for him.

He's actually a decent actor. Under the right director, he could definitely pull it off.

Don't worry, fanboys groan about everything. Most Batman fans were crucifying Heath Ledger before they saw TDK or any of the trailers. Now, you couldn't stop them from defending him.

This film (Supermax) needs an established bigname lead to sell it similiar to Downey in Ironman.

But his casting would be too close to Justin Hartley's young Green Arrow on Smallville.

I cant see JA pulling off the badass longbow hunter Oliver we haven't seen yet in live action.

That's what this version of GA needs to be.

Matt Damon is still my #1 choice.

This film (Supermax) needs an established bigname lead to sell it similiar to Downey in Ironman.

It's for that very same reason that I think Matthew McConuaghey would be perfect for Ollie.

Obviously, both physically and facially, he's perfect but I believe he's got more to offer in the role than someone like Damon as MM's got that whole 'smiling charisma charm thing' going which would be great in order to exhibit Ollie's charm.

It's the whole charm thing that puts alot of people off him, as he seems to mainly fall back on it in those lazy, by-the-numbers rom/coms that he always does; This could be the one comicbook role where some of the reasons why people dont like him work in his favour.

Let's not forget that, when called upon, he definately can play badass (see Reign of Fire and Frailty)

The problem with MM (as you mentioned) is people don't take him seriously anymore after the Rom-coms. I love how Family Guy always trashes him too.

After the Bourne trilogy with Damon, he's quite popular with action fans.

Matt could play Oliver's charm too; he's quite a versitile actor.

No doubting Matt's acting ability; I think he's great. I just prefer the idea of MM as Ollie.

MM's gotten lazy and needs to be shaken out of his slumber; All it takes is one badass role to remind people (and possibly himself) that MM can play badass.

GA could be it, in my humble opinion.

It's certainly possible.

Though if I were WB, I'd probably bank on Damon than take the risk with MM; probably be the safer choice.

A film with Damon as Arrow and Josh Brolin as Deathstroke would be epic IMO; that's my dream.

Hopefully Supermax has decent villians.


After the Iron Man films, I think Ollie's charm will need to be downplayed a bit anyway; so it isnt as over-the-top as Tony Stark.

I don't think there's much room for his charm in prison anyway; so likely the action hero aspect of Oliver will be played up.

Except I think that Ackles is a far better actor than Hartley and as a fan of Supernatural I think he's really good as the charming badass with a heart of gold. So much of his talent actually goes unrecognized because 1)He's young 2)He's a tv actor and 3)His show is on the CW of all places so people assume it's teeny bopper crap probably without even watching it. I think he would be an excellent choice for both a young and older Ollie (considering older Ollie is in young Ollie's body anyway but Ackles can definitely pull off sounding 20 years older than he really is).

Throw him in with a big name for a villain and you're golden.

I dont know if Ackles can come off as older but I agree he's a better actor than JH (but that's not much of an accomplishment).

Nothing about him is Green Arrow to me.

Plenty of actors have the 'charm' aspect; pretty much any decent actor could pull that off..

But I'm skeptical about him with the 'badass' aspect. I saw him try to play a darker character on Smallville and it was horrible.

He's more natural with the 'class clown' comedic-type characters; perhaps a better fit for Flash.

I want GA to be as awesome as Jack Bauer; to have someone as edgy as Sutherland and Bale. I think that's what this particular 'Prison Break meets Green Arrow' script needs.

It sounds like a Bruce Willis action movie (that stars Green Arrow).
