The Dothraki guy from Game of Thrones is in talks for Drax.

Looks like Marvel found their guy to play Drax the Destroyer in the upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy.

Jason Momoa who played Conan in the Lionsgate reboot, and is best known for playing Khal Drogo in the first season of Game Of Thrones, flew out to London to screen test on Wednesday. It was reported earlier that Isiah Mustafa, Dave Bautista, and Brian Patrick also tested the role of Drax.

According to sources, Momoa’s screen test went so good that Marvel offered him the part and his reps have now countered, so the negotiations are ongoing.

I believe there were a couple people here saying they hoped Marvel would cast him. Great choice imo.

So does everyone think that Gamora will be announced next? And if so, who do you think it will be?

I'm kinda rooting for Zoe Saldana.

I think Gamora will be announced next and possibly in fairly short order. My choice right now is Mila Kunis.

More than likely considering Gamora is the last humanoid that needs to be cast. Even though I'd like to know who is playing Rocket they probably don't really need to cast him until the very end.

Yes Gamora should be announced next. As for your choice, Zoe isn't tall enough nor really exudes what Gamora represents to me. She's a strong woman but not in the same sense as Gamora.

Not sure if serious.

Don't forget Thanos, who will probably be mo-capped like Ruffalo's Hulk.

I'd bet we get Adam Warlock in this in some fashion as well.

She's 5''4'.

[Sigh] We just had several pages of discussion on why height shouldn't be a main determinant for casting decisions.

Yes, very. I think Mila Kunis would be an inspired choice.

Mila Kunis wouldn't be an inspired choice for any comic heroine IMO. She's just not that kind of actress. I remember when people thought Natalie Portman would be cast as Sif. She just doesn't work for a role like that. Maybe an X-Men type character where her power is non-physical. Not Gamora though.

It does with a physical role like Gamora. I can't see Mila doing that at all

Normally, I agree with you. In this case, though, her height is an issue. Can you imagine putting a 5'4" actress next to 6'3" Pratt and trying to make them seem close in height for an entire movie? What a nightmare. You could never pan out. I like Kunis and if she was even a little bit close to a taller woman's height, I'd be all for it.

No, it doesn't at all. I could almost kinda not quite see the reasoning for Drax because the dude is muscular and big and whatnot and that means he absolutely has to be 6'4". But for Gamora, c'mon. She' not an Amazon.

Also, Mila Kunis does not strike me as the type that is dead set against doing any roles. I don't see her wanting to become the next Jennifer Anniston.

I really don't get this. The actors do not lineup next to each other for the duration of a 2 hr movie. Also, when has height ever been a defining part of Gamora?

Why would Gamora need to appear close in height to Star-Lord or Drax?

Gamora pretty much is an Amazon, more so than most females in the Marvel universe.

She doesn't, but she should AT LEAST be 5'7-5'10. I'm sorry, but 5'4 isn't gonna cut it, no matter how you slice it. This is Jackie from That 70's Show for cryin' out loud.

Gamora is an alien, why does her height matter? Is a short Gamora sacrilege?

People get hung up on the most arbitrary stuff

Ok, so let me get this straight just so I am clear. To play a powerful character a male actor has to be 6'4" and above and to be a kickass alien assassin a female actress has to be 5'7" and above. Got it.

No one is hung up on this, don't take this to the next level for no reason. All we're saying is that, in the comics, Gamora is a very physical character and is raised basically as an Amazonian alien by Thanos. Ideally her actress should be 5''9'-5''10', very aggressive, and very physical. Mila Kunis is none of those things.

Stop being sarcastic when it appears you know very little if nothing about these characters.
