There is no son or a woman in the novel. It's Neville living a world of isolation while trying to survive daily attacks from vampires. However, there is a mysterious woman who approaches him which leads to a surprising twist at the end of the novel.
I've already said that it seems like a decent movie, but a complete bastardization of a great novel with an excellent concept. I will still check it out to see whether it's good or not, but in the end, Hollywood will always ruin great stories that don't need to be changed.

so is the comingsoon.net review the only review we got?
I'm wondering as well.So the big question is,
Does Neville live at the end or not?
So the Creatures are created? What was the original cause?when a cancer cure goes wrong
Is it possible that the woman and kid are not really there? As in, the isolation makes him go slightly mad? I don't know about the book (haven't read it yet!) but it could make more sense for something like that to be incorporated?
I think it's funny how a lot of people are saying "oh I've seen the reviews (plural) on comingsoon.net and it sucks" yet there's only one review. Rottentomatoes.com, while not definitive yet, has given me more of an idea of whether this movie is good or not.

You mean this?Just watched the trailer for I Am Omega. It looked better than this.![]()
I saw the HBO First Look too, and they went into some detail with the mother and son.
I'm pretty much convinced now that she and the kid are mutants. Somehow. The way she acted reminded me a lot of Ruth.
