I'd say from the looks of it they play a big role, so that doesn't seem feasible. Maybe if they were to appear briefly or something, but it isn't likely.

I had no idea that Mike Patton provided the sounds for the vampires. I´m a huge Mike Patton fan so it´s pretty cool knowing he provided the sounds, now if only they had gotten him to do the soundtrack.

I've already said that it seems like a decent movie, but a complete bastardization of a great novel with an excellent concept. I will still check it out to see whether it's good or not, but in the end, Hollywood will always ruin great stories that don't need to be changed.

That was my favourite part, I loved that part I had to finish the ending that day, it was so good and thats why I am annoyed that they wont have that in the film, it was great.

There're two reviews on AICN. One that was pretty concurrent with the Coming Soon review and one that was incredibly positive. I believe there was also a pretty unfavorable review on IESB.

Oh, and [blackout]The woman and child are present throughout the last third of the movie. At least they were there in the last third of the script.[/blackout]

this is what i remember. I own the book, but i forget where it is in the novel itself, but...

it's a pandemic of bacteria, as opposed to some sort of medical cure gone astray, which i gather is the explanation in the movie. The Last Man On Earth used the bacteria pandemic which the book employed. BUT, and i forget if it's used in the book, but being as how The Last Man On Earth is the most faithful film so far and probably ever to the book, i recall that vampires actually existed in that world. The bacteria was a remnant of dead vampires that was spread through wind currents or something like that. I have to re-read the book. It's really great.

If I recall correctly, in the book it was hinted that vampires were real before the outbreak.

Neville remembers being bit by a bat while in the military. He believed the bat may have been in contact with a real vampire. He reasoned that his immunity to the vampire virus was due in part to the bat that bit him. The bat introduced a tiny dose of the virus into his system, and his body learned how to fight it off.


Of course that also could have also been him just trying to cope with being the only guy left on earth. His mind might have been making stuff up so he could deal with things.

Still can't wait for the movie. Hopefully I'll see it in IMAX, and get TDK prologue as well.

Is it possible that the woman and kid are not really there? As in, the isolation makes him go slightly mad? I don't know about the book (haven't read it yet!) but it could make more sense for something like that to be incorporated?

i really hope that is the case. i'm pissed for one that that stupid hbo special showed that, and also, it'd be ridiculous for them to advertise this as 'the last man on earth' if he really wasn't.

I think it's funny how a lot of people are saying "oh I've seen the reviews (plural) on comingsoon.net and it sucks" yet there's only one review. Rottentomatoes.com, while not definitive yet, has given me more of an idea of whether this movie is good or not.

I caught the "HBO FirstLook" earlier today.Heads up- I would've avoided that altogether knowing what I know now.Way to many shots that havent been shown in any trailers so if you have HBO, stay away if you'd rather go in fresh
