I just saw it in in IMAX, the prologue was better than this movie (the prologue owned, movie sucked)

Nothing like the book, the book was great, just another Hollywood movie, ruining another good comic.

Epic fail. Bad CGI, no vampires, pointless characters. There wasn't really anything relative to the book.

I really enjoyed the movie. Having not read the book or seen any of the previous films, I went in to this as a blank slate.

It's pretty emotionally evocative. I was tense for nearly the entire film, and actually cried once (when Neville is begging the mannequin to say "Hello" to him). The dog dying was something that I could see coming immediately after their first scene together. I just didn't know where or when. I'd say the only down side to the movie is that the second half seems to go at a break-neck pace, where as the first half progresses pretty organically. The movie just ended too quickly.

All in all, a solid film.

i would of saw this tonight but the upcoming snowstorm had me leary of leaving the house. i will definately go see it in imax next weekend and the batman prologue is influential to me seeing it in imax.

actually Smith did a great job with the role, the movie had its funny moments but not slapstick or obnoxious. Smith can show depth in his roles and he did with this one. Seeing him in roles like this where he does exercise his acting abilities is refreshing. It had a hell of a lot more depth than Omega Man thats for sure.

I was actually surprised to see how much people are hating on him so much. He does tend to play the same roles but that doesn't mean he can't act. Otherwise with that logic we would have to agree that Denzel Washington can't act.

I absolutely loved this film; though I think Will could have survived if he thought that last scene through but it was a hero's death

Question for those who've read the book: does it go into more detail about the virus and the various types of immunities?

he could have just pulled the pin on the grenade, jumped the the safe hole, and accomplished the same thing that he did when he held the grenade and went all "suicide bomber" himself

I liked the movie, but I agree with your suggestion. I was thinking that the whole drive home lol.

Totally agree. I was just talking about Denzel's roles this weekend. He's always either a cop/investigator or somebody doing something to overcome racism/discrimination/etc. Hardly means he can't act

The people in my theater laughed at the thought that an Batman/Superman movie being advertised for 2009 release.

I'd love to see it though eventually. I thought the logo for the movie poster was awesome.

move when the vampires placed the trap outside the subway station? When he was driving by, I thought I saw his head turn and so did the people I saw it with. They actually thought the mannequins were alive.

I dont think he wanted to live anymore, at least thats what i got. His family was dead and he found that cure he really had nothing more to live for.

I know this dude in the row in front of me said something like "sucks that the world had to die before we got to see that" and everybody was cracking up even more.

Who know maybe one day they'll get around to making one.

That is incorrect. In the book, the cause of vampirism is bacterial infection, not a virus.

I was really blown away by how uninspired this movie was.
The plot was nothing like the original book, which was brilliant, the ending was completely different, the zombie vampires looked worse than the cut scenes from Diablo 2. You would think with the money they saved by having a cast of 5 people they could afford some decent CGI, and why did they have to be CG? It served no purpose at all.

In the book, it is both because it contradicts itself. He states it is a bacteria, then goes on to say it's type is a bacteriophage (which is a virus).

I was telling the guys I went with, and they were like... "you're crazy... no he didn't".

My theory is that The night walkers knw all along that he talked to the mannequins. It seemed they got smarter as the movie progressed. That head moved... I swear to it!

See the thing that bugged me about I AM LEGEND, they got Robert right for the most part. But what bugged me is that Robert is not suppose to be a savior to the human race. In the end he realizes that he's the dinasour that's suppose to be extinct. He's a legend to the vampires, not to the humans. Thats what made the book ending so great. The movie ending was just all hollywood.

But overall it was pretty well rounded movie. There are scenes that I like what they did. The scenes with the dog I found enjoyable. The dog was fleshed out more and I ended up liking it. I didn't like how Anna didn't turn out to turn out to be Ruth like I hoped. IMO I think, the head vamp was a loose translation of Ben Cortman. Just my IMO.

Francis Lawrence has some serious talent. What he did with New York was amazing. The part where Robert goes after Sam in the dark room was really terrifying. But his fault comes with adaptation and he can't really finish a movie strong.

One last thing.

What the hell was up with the Batman/ Superman poster. I know there is not a movie coming out. Was it for a cartoon? Or was it an earlier poster from when the movie was supposedly happening?

at least he will be remembered for saving the human race

my biggest ish is the main baddie ? is he? or is the virus?
cuz it seemed that there was a head to the vamps, the one that set a trap for neville...
who was this character? why was he in charge? did smith capture his gf and he got pissed?
too many holes in this one, though i was entertained.

"i'm supposed to shoot the bus driver" was worth my $14
