Rotten Tomatoes at 80% now.
Bloody hell! A week ago it was at 93%.
Rotten Tomatoes at 80% now.
The only one that has surprised me was Peter Travers. I figured he'd like it, he's generally positive toward the genre. He gave a positive review to TASM, and I thought that was crap.
Everyone has their own opinion. Look for different things in different movies.
Though this is kinda of funny. There was a bit of arrogance here for a few months.

What does that mean?
That one did surprise me as well. He gave 3.5/4 stars to IM1, 3/4 stars to IM2, and 3.5/4 stars to TA. He gave IM3 2.5/4 stars and complained an awful lot in his review. He just sounds bored with the franchise at this point.
Which part? If it is the latter, many were naming it the best Marvel film yey without even seeing it. As if universal acclaim was inevitable.

Of course! Marvel Studios can do no wrong and everything they do will earn a billion from now on and get 90+ RT scores...because that apparently means something now.
For what it's worth after my third viewing it's still my favourite MCU film of the lot, i find it so funny how I constantly find myself to be in the minority when it comes to MCU films.
I don't know who was saying that. People were reacting to the twitter feeds, and the European reviews.
79% is certainly not the end of the world, and I didn't think it would be in the 90's as Avengers was and the first IM.
All I was saying was that Travers was the only one that really surprise me in his review. I thought the same thing when Richard Roeper gave a "C" to Captain America, because generally if done tastefully he enjoys the genre. When he gives a bad grade to a film in the genre, it's because it failed in execution ala Spider-man 3.
When a Fantastic Four comes out, or a Green Lantern, I think it hurts the genre. Now we've seen that the genre has been able to survive such mishaps, but someone before was talking about franchise killers and that's a real risk here.
As in, previous F4 and GL movies? Because I believe even these characters can be made appealing in the right hands.I understand what you mean. I rue the day that RT gained such infamy that we have to use it as some kind of **** measuring for movies.
I'm less concerned about the score, but I'm certainly glad that MS has not put out a rotten film yet. Some like some films better than others, and that will always be the case, but I want the films to be watchable and continue to spawn more films.

I think people wanted more Iron Man and less Tony Stark. Iron Man 2 gave them more Tony Stark ... Iron Man 3 did the same.
Wouldn't have minded more Iron Man, thats for sure. Especially with all those new suits! I loved the movie though ... after the 2nd viewing it grew on me.

Does IM really have the most Iron Man? Wow, did not know that. Though overall it has to be the Avengers right?
t: Unless ... you are trolling me hard!
I don't think that's the problem, and if it is...then movie audiences for these kind of films have a little bit of growing up to do. When spider-man 2 came out, very few people actually complained about the lack of Spider-man, so many people were just enthralled at the character study aspect it got an excellent reaction from fans. Iron Man 3 has the same thing...so if audiences and critics really are complaining about things it also feels to me like they expect a certain type of entertainment from MCU films rather than letting them branch out to deeper more personal and practical stories.
Yeah, a franchise killer. Why else reboot it? The movie made alot of money, sure, but it was horrible. Raimi clearly had run dry at that point and was ready to scrape the bottom of the barrel for a sequel. What we would have got in SM4 more than likely would have Quest for Peace. Add into this the rise of Batman and Iron Man in 2008 that changed the game. People wouldnt have been excited for a new Spider Man movie after this. Raimi ruined the characters at that point. Its difficult to come back from emo hair, tangoing, and crying when characters like Joker and Tony Stark hit the silver screen. So yeah, a franchise killer....
Spider-Man 3 execution isn't the problem. It is the story itself.
And yeah, there has been an air of arrogance here. Not TDKR level, but quite a bit. It is why posters are being attacked and reviews are being attacked.
