Official JLA discussion thread - Part 3

Making a quality movie depends on the writers and directors, you can make a quality movie on any character, it does not matter if that character is an A list or C list character.

JSA movie would be a lot cheaper than full JLA movie. (IMO.)

But would it make as much? No, probably not, so you're not going to see that investment anytime soon

So glad Lee gave up on his W tiara for WW.

Jim Lee draws some damn good posters and covers (but his story telling, not so much). Batman and Wonder Woman look pretty good, but that damn Superman costume........:barf:

So is Pandora a villain then

She be looking sinister and villainous on that cover

Is that a three-eyed skull in Batman's hand?

No, he's just happy to see you.

And I don't think Pandora's a villain so much as she's an irresponsible immortal messin' with s**t she's not supposed to.

That wacky Pandora

I bet its her fault that everyone's costumes have seams now :o

I hope that Despero isn't dead :csad:

I have to say, that is some of Lee's best work yet. Hopefully when he returns to Justice League, his art will look more like this (along with Johns taking over more of the storytelling duties because Lee can't tell a story for ****).

Yeah, lets see if Johns does a better job this time, as now he doesn't have the restriction of having to assemble the entire team in 6 issues.

Um, you could assemble the entire team in about two issues.

Yeah, but in what i read og Johns he allways had a slower pacing, so introducing all those concepts in 6 issues may have been too much. Still, he was able to introduce many things in both, his Green Lantern: Rebirth and Green Lantern: Secret Origin series.

I really hope that whatever the next arc is things actually happen in it

The last arc managed to make a story about some of the worlds most powerful heroes fighting the god of evil incredibly boring

Which is quite an achievement

the difference there is that there was always an element of mystery in Johns' GL stuff. We didn't know where he was going to what turns his story was going to take. He was also adding a lot more elements than 7 heroes coming together. He was building 7 whole new Lantern corps.

With JL, we knew who the team was going to be. So a slow burn of building up to an expected ending was nearly unbearable.

And it meant Darkseid's defeat was way too rushed

He shows up, beats up Hal, Aquaman stabs him with his trident Cyborg does something and then he's gone

yeah, the whole Darkseid fight really took about 8 pages. Wasted.

It felt like such an anti climax :csad:

I really hope the next time he shows up he'll be more like the Kirby version of the character and handled in a more interesting way

The speed of his defeat wouldn't have bothered me so much if it weren't just one more item on a laundry list of reasons why Darkseid sucked in this story. He just invades with only parademons as his troops, behaves very un-Darkseid-like, immediately lowers himself to getting into fistfights, and then just gets sucked away into a boomtube.

So many "wait, what?" moments for his character, IMO.

I've not really been following JLA and I don't follow Wonder Woman either, but what's the deal with the classic costume? Did they revert her back?

The way he barely said anything bugged me

He should be doing big villain monologues that i will hear in the voice of Michael Ironside

And where was Kalibak? Why did poor Desaad only get two panels

And Granny Goodness and her Female Furies got no love :csad:

I guess I'm WAY WAY behind. I had no idea they did away with the pants before even the first issue.

I've read up till the latest issue, and I still cannot stand how Lee draws Superman. Everyone else looks fine but Superman, UGH. He's so thin and awkward looking, and the S is still ugly. And he hardly said anything and he gets to be the one that's captured. It's almost as if Johns and Lee are trying to make Superman look bad. Of course, Green Lantern didn't fare much better, behaving like an ass the whole time.

WW only got her pants for her alt.reality and then they surprised everyone by showing us art with her in pants only for it to be fake to people riled up.

And noone really got a word in except Batman/Hal/Flash.

Lee's Superman was incredibly perfect in For Tomorrow.
