Official JLA discussion thread - Part 3

He looks alright when he's drawing him in the classic suit, but not in the new one.

WW only got her pants for her alt.reality and then they surprised everyone by showing us art with her in pants only for it to be fake to people riled up.

And noone really got a word in except Batman/Hal/Flash.

Most of the characters weren't very likable either

Though Wonder Woman was pretty neat in issue three with her love of rock & roll and ice cream

The Flash was nice too :)

There was not enough Aquaman :down

I guess I'm WAY WAY behind. I had no idea they did away with the pants before even the first issue.

I've read up till the latest issue, and I still cannot stand how Lee draws Superman. Everyone else looks fine but Superman, UGH. He's so thin and awkward looking, and the S is still ugly. And he hardly said anything and he gets to be the one that's captured. It's almost as if Johns and Lee are trying to make Superman look bad. Of course, Green Lantern didn't fare much better, behaving like an ass the whole time.

I think if they trying to make him look bad, issue#2 taking down GL, Batman and Flash wouldn't have been made as well as issue#3 and #4 and #6. Sure he's quiet but he's kicking butt when needed and saving people as well as putting a major buttwhooping on Darkseid. and Jim Lee may draw Superman(top 5 new DCNU Superman artists) offhanded sometimes but it still better than George Perez imo.

I'm just hoping the next arc is going to be more interesting

Just by saying SHAZAM!, and Billy is transformed into a magical flying adult superhero, one with the genius of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the unbreakable will of Atlas, the lightning blasts of Zeus, the power of Achilles and the speed of Mercury. But gaining the power of the gods means inheriting their enemies too. With the abilities of the world’s mightiest mortal, Billy will have to struggle with magical threats as well as his own youthful naïveté. To truly tap into his power, this orphan who’s always kept people at arm’s length will have to learn what family really is. From DC Comics Home Page
Genius of Zeus.......will of Atlas....power of Achilles? What the hell is this? Solomon was wise....not technically defined genius.....it appears they are determined to screw this up. Captain Marvel is such a purely and simply defined character the name and costume change are bad enough,.....but this?! It looks like these guys don't get it. Makes me feel like DC does not deserve the rights to Cap. (I wish Alex Ross was given this task. He clearly has more respect for the World's Mightiest Mortal).

Seems like a rather asinine gripe there Czar. :o

I already forgot what SHAZAM stands for and I just read it. He's smart, strong and fast.

So they are going by the original powers (people he gets his powers from) I'm guessing. I cannot recall which changed (I think two) but in the Trials of Shazam it was changed. I wanna say Atlas was swapped with Apollo or something because Atlas was actually dying and needed someone to endure his pain for him.

People need to stop over using that Picard smiley. It's obnoxious. :o

^^

(somebody had to do it...)

Solomon - Wisdom (not genius)
Hercules - Strength
Atlas - Stamina (not Will)
Zeus - Power
Achilles - Courage (not Power)
Mercury - Speed

I think I dislike over formatting in general.

This and this and THAT and maybe (this).

It's all irksome.

I'm just happy to hear that Tawky Tawny is going to be in it

Talking tigers ftw

As long as he doesn't turn on him and eat Mary or something. :o

Anyone thinks this first arc will read better in trade?

A little bit but not by much. It has some major flaws like Jim Lee's poor storytelling abilities while having lots of build up with a rushed ending.

Haven't read the back-up yet but I liked this issue WAY more than the first arc. Feels like the story is actually going places.
