Done in the past? I don't recall two versions of a hero showing up on screen in at the same time?

Not with Batman (although it has been done with other heroes - most recently, James Bond), but from a franchise point of view they have used different actors to play the character. Justice League is a different francise altogether and it could warrant a different actor playing Batman. It is not all that important.

There weren't two actors playing the same character in two different movie story arcs at the same time for Bond? If so, I missed it.

Considering how well Batman is doing, it is going to be the biggest and best comic book movie of all time...I don't really think WB is saying to themselves right now, "I got an idea, let's get another version of Batman on screen!"

I really like Bale, but I wouldnt have a problem with another actor playing Batman in J.L. as long as he is really good.
For me it's about the character, not the actor playing him.

Warner would love to have Bale as Batman, but he doesn't want to.

Link me to the quote where Bale says he will never do JLA.

So stop saying that they can't do it without him.

I hope this isn't directed at me because when did I ever say they can't do it without him. I have said it's idiotic. So if it is directed at me, you need to read more closely.

They can.

They sure can.

And they will.

Oh really? So this movie is 100% moving forward with Arm & Hammer as Batman and Miller directing. You know this for a fact. Please link to me where a WB exec has confirmed this.

Yup. In 1985 I believe. Roger Moore and Sean Connery both had Bond films out at the same time.

Edit: correction, 1983. never say never again, and octopus$y.

I think that's usually what happens. They don't have several Batman titles trading (with different versions of the character in some) simultaneously for nothing. It is mainly because he is popular.

I stand corrected then DNO. I apologize.

Thanks for the info GreenKToo.

I have only seen Casino Royale, no other Bond flicks.

Although they are intertwined, film and comics are two different things.

Bale said a couple times that he would't do a Batman without Nolan.

As for Johnny Depp: Well, he's a great actor. If Nolan made me love Heath Ledger's Joker with one trailer, I think we'll make me love Johnny Depp, wich i alredy support a a cool Riddler.

As for what i said before, it was't directed to anyone. It was just my view. Just look at all the IMDb boards, saying that they can't do it withou Bale and Routh. They should't, i agree, i would like a JLA movie with them, but i think they can, and, as long it ends up being good, We're supposed to be fine whit it.

And i highly doubt they'll release ''JLA'' before ''Batman 3''. They're alredy talking about hired actors! I Think the third Bats will show up on 2011, and ''JLA'', on 2012 or 2013.

And i've never seen Armie Hammer acting, only on his participation on ''Desperate Housewifes'', and i tought he was pretty good. Great voice and ''SOB'' acts. How can be people that think he's trash just because of his name. That, he can change. LOL

The concept is the same. If the character is that popular, you can afford to have him in different versions or different films (so long as the market can bear it). I think the market could stand and welcome Batman in a Justice League Film franchise and in my opinion, now is the time to exploit these charcters (Superman and Batman) in helping to get the other solo franchises started as well.

It's ok, I wasn't offended. Maze had posed a list of other films where two different versions of a hero appeared in the same year. You can check the link for a listing. We can conclude that this is not uncommon in the industry and to say that is a bad policy is a fallacy. This is really a matter of who owns the rights to the character and their willingness to allow those rights to be shared with other production companies.

The big difference here is that this current version of Batman is in a movie that will be the second biggest movie of all time and is in one of the best reviewed films of the year. The same can't be said for the examples cited in Maze's post. When you have a forumula for a character that is working, that is so enormously successful both critically and financially, common sense dictates to stick with and build off of that particular version.

This is all in theory though, they've never tried it before with Comic Book related films. Rumors from WB are that they are ready to go full force on Green Lantern. It seems this summit might have changed the direction. Not sure yet though.

Bale says that, but money talks.

In regards to Hammer, he actually grew on me for Batman or Superman.

Good I'm glad.

I see. Very interesting. The difference is the level of success of Dark Knight, and the nature of the business since this last occurred.

That's nice and all, but once again, this is all the reason one can use to leverage this type of fame to help other franchises.

Batman sure will help DC go forward with other franchises, but it seems they might be going the solo film route. If so, I personally think this is the right move.

Also note that the Tarzan franchise has had at least one film that was nominated for an academy award despite the different versions of the character through the years.

I don't think we know that for sure until these projects are green-lit and start filming.

Warners has struggled for years trying to get solo projects off the ground. In Batman they have but one qualified success for all their efforts. Yes, TDK will likely convince Warners to put more of an effort into developing other superhero movies, but it's not going make that task any easier for them.

That's also one reason why I think this movie will be given the greenlight. It's ready to go.

Other movies have gone further into production, much further, and have been erased for existence never to be heard from again. When you say "ready to go" what are you refering too? Doesn't seem to have a location, actors aren't signed, they were still working on the script last we checked...I don't know.

It's not literally ready to go, no. What I meant was it can be ramped up much more easier than anything else Warners currently has in the works, including a Superman Returns sequel. And for all we know, they might be making preparations for this movie behind the scenes (i.e. picking shooting locale) on the chance they eventually decide to move ahead with it.

True. However, they could also be doing nothing because the movie isn't happening. It is pretty much speculation.

The only ones really still talking about JLM are Miller and Gale's support system. Sounds familiar right? ie Singer and Routh.

Actually, Common and Brody talked about it pretty much also.

Its funny, a while back everyone argued which movie will go ahead, JLM or MOS. Stating the only one can happen, not both. Well now it looks like neither will happen. Heh, go figure
