I'm not the one saying that noting happened at all.If they had that (and that has happened in other cases) they may have pursued it. It's kind of clear that they don't.

How is Bale's personal life relevant to the dead Justice League movie?

It isn't. That is why we aren't going to talk about it anymore. Next person who does, get's an infraction.

Dnno1 should answer this question considering he was the one to initially post the news when it broke in this JLA section about Bale and his assault charges. And if that wasn't enough, he went on to post the link to the news that Morgan Freeman was in that car accident. WTF does that have to do with JLA? Apparently he is unaware of the Celebrities section in the Community forum.

Which won't be allowed again.

Dnno1, may I suggest you search around these forums so that you can learn where to post any news article you feel is relevant and place in its appropriate section. Think twice before you jump for joy and feel the need to post a negative TDK related news article in this JLA section when it has absolutely nothing to do with JLA.

Not only won't there be negative news in here, there won't be Dark Knight news in here unless it is relevent to JL.

Warner Bros pushes back Harry Potter 6 til July 2009

In a move that highlights the crucial strategic role played by global day-and-date releases, Warner Bros has pushed back Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince from November 21 to July 17 2009.

The sixth episode in the studio's highly successful children's fantasy franchise will now open day-and-date domestically and in the major international markets and gives the Warner Bros the summer global behemoth it had been looking for next year. Terminator Salvation is scheduled to open on May 22, however Sony Pictures Releasing International will distribute overseas.

President and COO Alan Horn said the film "perfectly fills the gap for a major tent pole release for mid-summer" and also cited the writers' strike earlier this year as a factor, which "impacted the readiness of scripts for other films -- changing the competitive landscape for 2009."

The studio had hoped to release a Justice League film next summer, however the strike meant a script will not be ready in time. Further news on that title is expected when Warner Bros unveils plans about how to exploit its wholly owned DC Comics label.

Warner Bros Motion Picture Group president Jeff Robinov said the change did not affect the production schedule for The Half-Blood Prince or the two-part finale of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows.

"We know Harry Potter fans are eagerly anticipating seeing the final chapters unfold onscreen," Robinov said. "In fact, the good news for them is that the gap will now be shortened between Half-Blood Prince and the first part of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows [which is due to open on November 19 2010.

I wonder if Horn or Robinov told this writer to expect such plans from Warners or if he's just speculating about the potential for such a press release.

I would really love if wb/dc do a press release on what they are doing since the summit talks.

A strike and a little thing called The Dark Knight. I'm not holding my breathe for any big press release, that plan could take years until it's unveiled.

Variety chimes in on this.

WB taps into ties at DC Comics
Co. has heroes like Wonder Woman, Flash

By MARC GRASER

When it comes to superhero properties, Warner Bros. couldn't be sitting on a more enviable source: DC Comics, home to Batman, Superman and other well-known caped crusaders.

But to make its heroes fly at the megaplex, the studio knows it needs to make the right movies. The financial payoff is too big to squander with a creative misfire like "Catwoman."

"They can really be an evergreen source of enjoyment and income," says studio topper Alan Horn, referring to the coin a hit pic can collect at the B.O. and from sources like TV, homevid, vidgames and merchandise. The studio earned $1 billion from DC fare alone in 2005, when "Batman Begins" was released. "If you do it wrong, you're dead, you're out of there."

Getting out there, however, has taken time.

Warners and DC (both Time Warner entities) have labored in vain over another Superman, and launches for Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Arrow and Green Lantern. It's maddening for fans as rival Marvel Comics has successfully begun financing its own slate of pics, first with "Iron Man," then a reboot of "The Incredible Hulk" this summer.

That could soon change, as Warners is readying to revamp how DC's properties are developed -- changes that could be announced within the next month.

DC doesn't have a separate film division the way rival Marvel does, which is moving forward with an "Iron Man" sequel and adaptations of Thor, Captain America and the superhero team-up "The Avengers" for 2010 and 2011.

That means Warners doesn't have a sole cheerleader for its comicbook projects, or someone to work closely with filmmakers to develop them.

Until now, those duties have been shared by production prexy Jeff Robinov and Gregory Noveck, senior VP of creative affairs for DC Comics, who has served as a liaison between the comicbook publisher and the studio.

Some say Robinov's attention may be pulled in too many directions, given his other responsibilities, which include the rest of the studio's slate and marketing. Noveck formerly was Joel Silver's TV topper.

"We're having a lot of internal discussions on it," Horn says. "We haven't committed to any change at DC at this point," adding that both Warners and DC are committed to turning "the properties into viable movie product in an intelligent way so that we introduce them like planes on a runway. They have to be set up the right way and lined up the right way and all take off one at a time and fly safe and fly straight."

One high-profile property is "Justice League," which Warner Bros. had hoped would start production before the writers strike.

But given that it unites Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Arrow, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter, the studio is trying to figure out how such the pic (cast with younger actors) would affect its existing Batman and Superman franchises -- and whether the script respects how the characters play off each other in the DC universe.

To put it simply: the studio doesn't want to piss off the Comic-Con contingent.

"We're not off the notion of a Justice League," Robinov says. "There's a massive interest and knowledge in the comicbook industry and it takes time to sort of catch up and understand the characters and the history, where they've intersected with each other and what their worlds are. That's part of the education that we're going through."

When it comes to Batman, the future of the franchise is in Christopher Nolan's hands. That's what a successful reboot with "Batman Begins" and breaking records with "The Dark Knight" will do.

There's a deal for the director to helm a third pic, but he has yet to decide on whether to tackle it yet.

"We have no idea where Chris is going with this," Horn says. "We haven't had any conversations with him about it."

Either way, there's no question Warner Bros. will produce more superhero pics. The question is when.
"These are big, iconic characters," Noveck says. "So when you make them into a movie, you'd better be shooting for a pretty high standard. You're not always going to reach it, but you have to be shooting for it. We're going to make a Justice League movie, whether it's now or 10 years from now. But we're not going to do it and Warners is not going to do it until we know it's right."

Great article, Biolumen. I'm interested to see who's attached to writing the film at the moment. Is it still Kieran and Michele Mulroney?

GReat article bio i do really hope they are changing gears and getting on the ball. Hopefully we do get the details from the sumitt talks but i am not holding my breat on that.

announces as early as next month? we will see

Yea as i said i hope the details form the talks do come out to us but not holding my breath on it.

Webhead:

As long as the results are good I don't care how long they wait to tell us.

yea i hope we dont have to wait so long major. And nice article doubledown 44.

It would be nice.

Considering how many distractions WB has been dealing (WGA strike, potential SAG strike, restructuring with New Line etc) and taking a cautious approach after many of their previous adaption flops, TDK's aftermath and the summit with DC I don't think we'll get any definite info until next year, minimum.

May as well just wait it out. They'll tell us when they're ready.

And nice article doubledown 44.

Agreed.

Yea i understand all the problems and issues they are having as a studio hopefully we dont have to wait 10-15 yrs or more to see these dc films happen.

With JL? Maybe.

It shouldn't stop any other comic adaptions if WB feels confident enough in them.

They already have a few choices which might get adaptions soon. It's a long shot but it's better then nothing at all.

Seems like WB "gets it" now after Dark Knight.

Hands up anyone who seriously thinks WB will release details of all the DC films within a month.

I think Iron Man may have also played a part but fingers crossed they have finally got it and move forward with solo film of the same level as TDK.

Hopefully they have gotten it now since TDK, i would really love for wb to finally get on the ball with their dc properties. Yea right now if any dc films are likely to happen soon its gl/green arrow as the top contenders now.

I'm not sure Green Arrow will end up happening, but I would love to see both Green Arrow and Green Lantern for sure.

From the Variety story:
"The studio is ramping up production after being hit hard by the writers strike.
The three-month walkout kept the studio from developing its bigger properties.
"We were impacted, there's no denying that," Horn says. "We really needed screenplays and we were just dead in the water. It hurt (tentpoles) the worst."

That's a key statement, I think.
