I think I remember having this discussion with you. IIRC, you don't think Nolan's Batman and Singer's Superman can co-exist in a film together. I disagree. But, it doesn't matter what you and I think only what WB thinks. They can let Nolan's and Singer's films finish out and just decide to throw those two together in a movie (if there is no JLA film).

And, I highly doubt the audience would really care that there was no setup done in any of the Nolan or Singer films. Audience sees Batman and Superman together in a trailer, and they will show up at the theater, guaranteed.

I agree with you Flawless. I have seen this argued several times, but I just don't see the issue. To me there isn't anything in Nolan's Batman that says you can't have Superman or vice versa with Singer's Superman showing up in Nolan's Gotham.

Sure Nolan's films are protrayed "realistic", but how does this differ with the Batman of the comics who also interacts with Super powered beings from time to time.

To me it is the same as the comics where as Metropolis is the light city and Gotham is it's dark twisted sister.

The only thing I think SR didn't setup is there being other superpowered beings in the world. But even that can be worked around with some creative writing.

Yea they could work together or they could not it all how a team up film about them is written a good story could pull it off a bad story couldnt. As for jla hopefully we can see it get salavaged under new crew/director and all that once SAG stuff is done in june or after june counting on if they strike or not. Hopefully as others said if it does come later that is gets the right crew/cast attached to it and we the fans have more to believe in then the mess miller caused. If miller is gone for good with jla i would love to see weta's costumes designs to see where they were going with the film and all that. Hopefully one day we get a leak on that and see them. Lets just hope jla does happen sooner then later and it goes over better and a good film.

Sure Nolan's films are 'realistic', but how does this differ with the Batman of the comics who also interacts with Super powered beings from time to time.

It differs because Nolan all but removed the fantasy element to the series, his desire for 'realism', to have things justified and scientifically and logically explained has taken it away, no longer do we wonder how did he do this or how did he do that, because it's been explained to us in full detail, it's been one of the few criticisms of the series by fans is that the way he's done it leaves little to explore some of the more fantastical elements in the Batman series. Burton's Batman would have been a better one to put in with Singer's Superman coz there's more of a fantastical feel to that series.

WB should move onto Superman 2 and 3, and a 3rd Batman

Hmmm... don't know about that. I don't see how Nolan's universe is any more grounded in reality than Singer's. obviously one has an alien and one doesn't. But aside from that, Singer's movie feels just as "real" if not more.
Also I think you're being extremely generous to say anything is scientifically explained in Begins.

Can't believe we are going back to this... the Hype is fun no more when you avoid the spoilers over at the other forums in that there is not much left to talk about. But I learned my lesson from that. All I can say is... someone dig up those Batman/Superman manips... that'll give you the answer as to whether the two universes can work together.

I guess we just won't see eye to eye on this, which is cool.

Personally I think they can work. I don't see where Nolan's explanations and realism in regards to Bat's tech or methods prevent a strange visitor from another planet on showing up. But that's just me.

Also I think the way the cities/environments themselves lend very well to a merge. Like I said before to me it seems exactly like the comics in regards to how the cities are protrayed as opposites.

I do agree with you on the recent discussions becoming so stale and ground being retreaded. Hopefully we will get some exciting news on some new superhero project soon to make things interesting again. Or at least when the 3 upcoming films come out this summer things will be a little fresher.

Well I don't know if you were referring to jmc... he has been consistent with keeping everything separate. Everyone has their reasons. Some of those manips were bloody fantastic... salivating for that matter. WF is probably a top five dream movie on my list... but it wouldn't make my list if it was different versions of the character in two concurrent franchises. Just have to agree to disagree like you said. To me its all about the cast... I mean the director too obviously, but the cast is what the people see and what matters the most. Right now any other versions of Batman and Superman is irrelevant to me. I think that's the most important thing to consider before doing these crossover movies. But WB is thinking franchise and I totally get that line of thinking too.

My mistake, meant to put everyone's quotes in my post, I was responding to both--it's been a long day I guess.

Yeah, I have seen some really good manips, and would love to be able to watch a WF film one day.

Not really sure how I feel about two concurrent franchises of the same characters. I mean my first reaction to the news of possibly seeing two different Bats/Supes was a little WTF, but I guess I got used to the idea over time. I guess if handled properly and the characters are represented well then I could live with it.

If it ever does happen these boards will become a nightmare. There will be so many arguments about "My Superman/Batman could kick your Superman's/Batman's butt" or "His version was more faithful to the comics" etc, etc.

Gale is back in Oz. Say something, girl!

Stars jet into Sydney for MTV Awards

Hip hop singer Wyclef Jean flew in from Hong Kong ahead of his MTV Awards hosting duties, while model Megan Gale was all smiles as she returned home from the US where she is pursuing a film career.

Megan Gale stood out as always after returning from the US and kept a brave smile in place, despite rumours that her Justice League movie debut has been canned.

I'm so happy. I'm glad this project is dead. Now the hope remains for MOS.

Please tell me that not you when you were a wee little whelp. ;)

I have a feeling that with this film dead that WB is going to start focusing on solo films especially since it looks like MOS is moving forward, WW getting new screenwriters, and GL and Flash having directors and in the screenwriting process for a little while now.

That what they need to do first before making a JL film. Even Marvel is doing this with few Avenger members before they do the Avengers film.

True. Bale is a charismatic actor, how would Routh even stand next to him?

Routh will do fine. Just give him some time & he will be a fine actor teaming up with Bale few years down the road if WF happend. I think that why he has done some Indie type of films. Doing those kind can help an actor hone on his craft even better. Bale has done acting since he was a kid so he been in the business for a long time, so you can see how he is very charismatic. I mean, he even did the Pac-Man cereal commerical in England when he was 8. :hehe: :funny:

Beside, didn't Bale said he want to work with Routh? I support that.

And here's my anti-Warners rant for the day...

What solo films? (Unless you're referring to Marvel, in which case yeah, there's a ton...) But from DC? The only solo movies they want to give us are Superman, Batman, and Catwoman (wtf?) I know there's supposedly a GL, Flash, and WW film in the works, but when was the last time we heard about any movement on those? Does anyone think these films will actually happen? 'Cause I'm certainly not holding my breath. I swear I hate WB. Marvel's giving us movies with nearly every character they have, but WB can't give us anything outside of Superman and Batman. And Catwoman (wtf?)

Five Superman-films and seven Batman-films. As I said, I don't care enough about other superheroes from DC that I'll be thrilled for a solo-flick. I have little interest in that, because I've seen about 50 solo-flicks since 1978. I want an ensemble movie. The heroes I care about the most all have solo-movies, with sequels. So I don't feel any hype (for me) for any GL, The Flash etc. So I have little to look forward to if there si no Justice League. I'm feeling all "meh" towards new solo-flicks, because frankly my dear, it's becoming quite boring because it has been done so many times before. :)

I could have sworn Bale was quoted as saying he was open to it.

^He did say he was open to it. IIRC, he just wanted to wait until he was done with Nolan's films.
Correct but it was also rumored that he was open to it only if he was working with Routh. Apperently the two became good friends at the MTV movie awards and Bale said he would do a team up movie only with Routh and after Nolan's movies. Now thats just a rumor.

Look at it this way, if she does other films, at least we'll have a better idea whether or not she would have been a good choice or whether she was chosen for the look. But if it doesn't work out for her, she's always got modeling if her film career doesn't take off.

Hahahahaha.

Hey, I'm not worried poor Gale would be unemployed without it, jmc.

I just thought she was a damn good choice. :woot:

Yes, but they did three X-men movie before a Wolverine one...

Because more people are familiar with the x-men as a group...I think JL would probably be alot more expensive than WB thinks...considering you would have to do Visual FX for about 5-7 different characters, and thats not even counting any other environmental effects or what the villains are doing....WB could spend upwards of 300 million and not see any substantial return on that

nice update maze. I have said this before personally i rather not see singer return to superman after the mess that film was there was only a few things i did like in the film but majority of the film was crap and i know alot of people feel that way too. If jla isnt going to happen for a few years(hopefully sooner maybe after SAG is settled for later this year/early next yr) i rather see flash/gl/ww solo films try to get off the ground again.

To be fair though, Superman can fit into a realistic setting because fantasy and magic don't explain his powers. His powers are scientifically and logically explained that his biology is what has created his abilities. Not only that Man-Bat and Killer Croc exist in Nolan's world as well.

Also Singer's Superman took the route of having a superhero alien living in this world just like how Nolan took the route of a well financed vigilante living in this world. While there are fantasy elements to fit in with Donner's vision, Singer's Superman can also work in a realistic setting like Nolan's Batman.

Can you actually post the article, it's not working for me.

Regardless to how you feel about “Superman Returns,” I don’t think there is any debate that Brandon Routh did a great job. Actually, he did more than a great job. To me, he was Superman. I, once again, believed a man could fly.

So when I was asked if I wanted to interview Brandon for his new movie “Lie to Me,” you could say I was very interested. Not only because I wanted to meet the man who plays one of my favorite comic book characters, but as a fan of his, I wanted to help him promote his other work to show he’s more than a man who wears a cape.

During our 12 or so minutes talking, we covered all of his upcoming movies and of course I asked about the next Superman movie. And since the interview was done before word got out that Warner Bros. stopped the Justice League of America movie, my asking Brandon about his thoughts on the film aren’t as relevant. But I did ask if he was ever offered the part of Superman in the JLA movie. He said no.

Since the interview is 12 minutes, I’ve broken it up into two parts. As always, I listed what we talked about during each part so you can see what interests you.

Finally, if you missed the movie clips I posted for “Lie to Me,” you can watch them here. The movie premieres this weekend at the Newport Beach Film Festival. And with that, here’s Brandon.

Brandon Routh Part 1 (6min)

Is it weird to see himself on a poster making out with a girl
Brandon talks about why he did Lie to Me and what it’s about
I ask if he plays someone who has an open relationship in the movie
I ask if he ever tried to have an open relationship in real life
After Superman Returns he took a break and now he has a bunch of projects. I ask if that was a conscious choice and did he feel he needed to take a break from the public eye
Life is Hot in Cracktown talk

Brandon Routh Part 2 (6 min)

I ask if the role in Life is How in Cracktown was a role he targeted
I ask if it’s weird to have all these projects coming out at one time
Miss Nobody talk
Dylan Dog talk (2:55)
I ask what he has coming up for the rest of the year – around 4:50 he says he hopes to be shooting Superman: Man of Steel early next year
I ask his opinion of the Justice League movie (5:20)
And for my last question I ask Brandon if he was ever approached to be in the Justice League movie. He says he wasn’t.

....

he didnt really say all that much for MOS he said he hopes filming will start up early 2009 and thought SR was good..... and for jla he said simular to what bale first said it isnt the right time and they should wait to after bale's films and his films, and then said as people know he was never offered supes for jla.

http://www.collider.com/entertainment/interviews/article.asp/aid/7675/tcid/1

Brandon Routh Talks tells his opinion about the Jla and the fact that he has not been approached at the end of the second video interview.

he also talks about how he hopes shooting Mos early 2009.

I like how Routh's opinion about Justice League is pretty much the exact same as Bale's in that they're willing to do it, but now is completely the wrong time and they want to establish more and finish with what Nolan is doing for Batman and what Singer is doing for Superman.

Yea that probably was going to be the plan to SR underpreformed and all that, so then WB thought it would be better to try jla now with new people then try MOS again with singer but we will probably never know what really went down with all that. As i said for SR personally didnt like it alot, only things i liked was visually it looked great, routh has the look and voice for the character. The things that sucked was the son plot, superman a stalker, the suit, making routh act as he was reeve's playing superman and not really his own take, and then making it connected to the reeve/donnor films it should have been a reboot like BB was for batman and bring the superman character out of silver age stuff and be a modern take/mythos of the character.
