It's "Captain America: The First Avenger" now, isn't it? I remember hearing that they renamed it.

But for the last few years Tony has been an agent of Shield, the leader of Shield, Secretary of Defense, the liaison between superheroes and the government and god knows what else. Its what he does.

It's funny how people who have know clue about Iron Man just think he's a guy in a suit fighting D-list villains, never having met Fury, Black Widow and SHIELD and their history together and Favreau pulling sh** out of his ass and adding it to the movies for no reason.

That stuff honestly didnt need to be in the film. I dont think anyone is claiming that Faverau is pulling it out of his ass

SHIELD is a part of Iron Man's world. Saying it doesn't need to be in the movie is the same as saying the GCPD doesn't need to be in a Batman movie.

Bulls***, people keep complaining that BW, NF, and SHIELD have no business in the movie and that Favreau and the studio shoe horned them in there.

They honestly needed to be there more than War Machine, if anything WM should've been saved for the fourth or fifth movie or spinoff or whatever and made the promotion focus more on Whiplash and Hammer. The fight between Tony and Rhodey should've been the second encounter between IM and Whiplash and the money for building the suit at Legacy Studios and cgi at ILM should've been given to Whiplash and a better suit. Whiplash should've been leading the drones. Maybe then Vanko would've gotten more screen time.

If anyone should've been taken out of the movie it should've been WM.

JLA is a part of Batman's world. So far it hasn't been there over-complicating things and it hasn't hurt.

They didnt really need to be in the movie, and they were shoehorned in that in my and many other opinions. You dont need SHIELD to make a good IM film

Basically this. Now I wouldnt mind a Batman film series tied to a JLA film in a shared universe but it doesnt hurt not to have one.

When they do get around to a JL film I hope its a shared universe, but not connected through post credit scenes

If DC's not gonna give us a Justice League film can we at least get a World's Finest film.

That's what I really want to see.

Like I said before, I just don't see the harm with Batman existing in the same world as Superman.

I dont either, but I know that Nolan doesnt like that idea for some reason. If I remember correctly even in the new Superman story for the movie, Supes was going to be the only hero in his universe as well. So I dont expct to see Bale interact with Superman any time soon

I wouldnt be opposed to a World's Finest movie at all

The more I hear about DC's plans, the more I think it's not that Nolan and WB just wants to have Batman in his own world...they just want each character and world to get the focus they deserve, without the distraction of a JL tie in.

It would be much easier to get off the ground than a Justice League film and features two of the DC's most popular heroes. This my only problem with Nolan. That he think all these heroes have to exist in their own worlds in order to work.

I dont know if your saying it'll be easier just becuase or if you think I disagree. Because I dont. However I dont know which I would prefer a World's Finest or JL. Supes/Bats=Awesome, although I would like to see Wondy in the mix, but Im not to thrilled with where they are going with the Flash.

and yes thats one of my problems with Nolan as well

I've been pondering this, and I think some people don't like the SHIELD tie-in because having several superheroes in one movie makes the main hero seem less special.

I don't object to that.

They're just super cops, I don't see why there should be any complaints.

If there should be a gripe it should be towards War Machine, now he made Iron Man seem less special and took away from Whiplash and Hammer.

I dont know where you got that from. Every complaint about it Ive seen has been that it was boring and didnt really help at all.

I didn't think you disagreed. I was just elaborating more on it. I do believe it would be easier to get off ground due to only having to worry about two main stars as opposed to seven, making it easier to split the focus and its much easier for a screenwriter to write.

And I think what they said about Flash is intriging but I want to hear something less vague.

green lantern and the flash are really good friends and are always hanging out. i would expect them to at least appear together at some point in a film.

Lets wind the clocks back a few years :hoboj:. When Nolan was first attached to Begins Batman was still recovering from B&R, so he had to reassure the fans that his movies would be serious, with no Robin and no other spandex clad superheroes around cheesing it up. Lets face it, when there's only one superhero its ok, but when there's a whole team of them fighting aliens, it becomes too colourful and cheesy (on the silver screen, not the comics). Maybe the Avengers will help the general audience become more familiar with the idea.

Furthermore you have to consider that Nolan isnt a huge comic book fan (yeah he has read many issues for his work, but does that mean that he follows the monthlies or cares for the character and how he progresses throughout the years?), and like every noob batfan, he doesnt really like seeing Batman with Robin, in the JL, traveling through time, etc. How many of you have the same preferences yet have been exposed very little to JLA Batman? I admit that when i first started reading bat comics i was like that as well.

Finally, it makes total sense that Nolan wouldnt want a JL film on his back. Who would want another director working on his character and tampering with his characterization, development, etc?

Me too, but even if we get it it will be Barry and Hal, not Wally and Kyle. :csad:

I see your point but I don't necessarily buy it, I think some (myself included) feel that the focus should be simply on making good character films and not worrying about setting things up or interconnecting elements, I had similar issue with Robin Hood, that film felt more like a set up for sequel rather than an actual Robin Hood movie. That's why I applaud WB's decision to concentrate on the characters, not the universe. A movie universe is unique yes, but means squat if the solo films suffer because of it, and ultimately I believe it's an unsustainable route in the long run.

having multiple villains doesn't make the main villain seem less special so the opposite should apply as well.
