Daredevil Official Matt Murdock Casting Thread

I don't hate Zac Efron, but he'd make a better Danny Rand imo.

This was my exact thought when I read that rumor. I really can't see him as Murdock, but Rand is another story. Unfortunately, the Iron Fist show doesn't even have a creative team in place yet, so this casting rumor is almost certainly not pertaining to that.

Got nothing against the guy but he doesn't really feel like a Daredevil to me. Seems like he'd be better for a character who is younger, like Nova.

I'd personally prefer DD a little older and not straight out of law school. Maybe Foggy Nelson will be the senior partner in this firm here. Isn't it called "Nelson and Murdock" anyway?

Although why would Foggy take him on as a partner immediately? Maybe they are a breakaway firm from something larger, and Foggy persuades him to join him on a new venture? A bit like the first episode of Ally McBeal where she left her previous firm to go and work for Cage and Fish?

In regards to Efron as Daredevil, I would rather see him as Nightwing in the DCU. He's about the right age to be Nightwing when you consider the veteran Batman Affleck is playing.

I don't know how to feel about Efron as DD I've literally only seen him act for about five minutes, and that's when my sisters watched HSM when it came out. I'm sure he's above that now. Either way I'll hold out for an official announcement before I start looking into his work. Neighbors looks extremely funny though!

I personally like the Efron option if it happens. He can act and has the muscular build to do it. He also looks like a 20-something Matt. I know that he is not that tall or whatever...it does not matter. No sense in being such a stickler for those tiny details.
I have been reading DD for 30 years and I think that Efron would do well and I am cool with a younger DD.

Well, going with the Man without Fear Frank Miller series, Murdock got a big law firm in Boston for about six months or so after graduating from Harvard. Then he returned to New York where he met up with Foggy Nelson. Both his decision to become Daredevil and his agreement to form a partnership with Foggy came from that trip back to New York. But if he went to law school straight after undergrad (his pre-law education and Columbia and desire to become a lawyer suggests he would go straight there) and he did finish early, he would graduate at 25 or 26. If he takes three months to take the bar and then has his brief stint at a big law firm, he would likely return to New York at age 26 (27 at the farthest out). So you never want someone to be younger than that, but that age is about what I'd expect. 30 at the oldest.

Although I tend to think the only reason it is Nelson & Murdock instead of vice versa is the poor guy needed a confidence booster.

Daredevil needs to apply a level of agility to his fighting style that I haven't seen a lot of on film. Sure, Spidey's CG character can be agile...but I'm hoping a DD tv series uses very limited CG to portray Daredevils movement ability.

Why exactly does it need to stop? Efron is young, talented, and has a decent superhero look. I would expect him to get snatched up for some property sooner than later.

I'm hoping they use very little CGI as well (for budget reasons as much as anything else), but I think that's better solved through a stunt double. The mask will do a pretty good job of hiding that it isn't the actor doing the stunts.

I don't think Matt should be too tall but Zac still seems shorter than I'd imagine. It's hard for me to imagine hiim being intimidating in the suit, too.

For some reason, I really don't see Zac playing the lead in a Netflix show. I know Netflix is a bit different from regular TV shows, but he's primarily been a movie actor so far. I think whoever he might be playing will be a "films-only" character. The more I think about it, the more Richard Ryder/Nova Prime. Since Rhomann Dey is in GOTG, whatever happens in that film could directly lead into a Nova movie or a GOTG sequel where Nova joins the team. Perhaps the Nova Corps gets destroyed in the film, which is why the Guardians are the only ones who can stop Ronan. And if so, then perhaps Rhomann goes seeking a new hero to take up the Nova mantle at the end.
