Comics Official Random X-Men One-Shots and Specials Thread

Will we get a reaction from the X-universe to Wanda's apparent return in the pages of the “Mighty Avengers?” Wanda reappearing should be a big deal for the X-Men. It could be a chance to bring back those who died because of her; provide a way for mutants not to go extinct; give the X-Men an opportunity for revenge (if they so desired). Please don't tell me her reappearance will be ignored because she's featured in an Avengers title…

Nick Lowe: You’ll definitely see some X-Men/Avengers content coming up. Did you notice the X-Men in “Mighty Avengers” #20?

Rick is next, and he names two other mutants he would like to “reappear” in the X-books.

Any possibility of Sway and/or Petra coming back from the grave? It's a shame new and interesting characters were killed off before they really had a chance…

Nick Lowe: They aren’t the X-Men characters coming back from the grave this year. But we haven’t forgotten them.

Even though she is retired, is there any chance for Firestar to have a place within the X-Men given her mutant status?

Nick Lowe: We do love Firestar over here in the X-office.

How would you classify your "outsider" books of “Deadpool” and “Captain Britain and MI13” within the overall X-Men family and universe?

Nick Lowe: “Deadpool” is on the edges. It’s not technically an X-Book, but there’s no telling where it’s going to go. But if you want to see him interact with X-stuff, look no further than the upcoming “Messiah War!”

“Captain Britain and MI13” isn’t an X-book, it’s a regular Marvel Heroes book. It’s a passion of mine and something that Paul and I wanted to work on together. Like “Runaways” and “Hellcat,” it’s one of the non-X-books I edit.

Is there a possibility that any of the “New Warriors” characters might end up in X-books now that their title is ending? And if so, can you hint at which ones?

Nick Lowe: There aren’t any solid plans right now, but I’ve heard some inklings from our writers.

Marc Ravens sent in a request for our latest X-POSITION newbie, Editor Sebastian Girner. Welcome Sebastian!

I’m really looking forward to the Lucas Bishop book that was just solicited. Can we hope to see Shard, Fitzroy, and/or the witness?

Sebastian Girner: The “Times and Life of Lucas Bishop” (in stores this week!) takes a close look at Bishop’s past and the twisted road he traveled to become the mutant you’ve seen in the pages of “Messiah CompleX” and “Cable.” The three characters you’ve mentioned all played an important role in Lucas’s life at one time or another, so I think it’s safe to assume they’ll be popping up throughout the series.

It looks like you’re building up Romulus to be one of the X-Men’s “big baddies.” Will we ever see what his true appearance is? Has Romulus ever been involved in any other X-Men member’s past? And does he have any interest in any of the current X-Men?

John Barber: In order: We certainly are. I certainly hope so. That’s not for certain. Certainly…

Who is Romolus?

Nick Lowe: They aren’t the X-Men characters coming back from the grave this year. But we haven’t forgotten them.
So at least 1 dead X-man is returning this year? Please let it be Jean

Nick Lowe: “Deadpool” is on the edges. It’s not technically an X-Book
I never considered it an X book either.

Romulus was introduced in the Lupine arc in Wolverine's main solo book by Loeb. His name has popped up here and there in some of the other books. I'm not sure on all the details, but he's apparently got major ties to feral type mutants like Wolverine and Sabretooth, and is really old like Apocalypse and Selene.

figures. I have little interest in Wolverine

"Deadpool" should be an X-book. I mean, any character who insists THAT much that he's a mutant, and cross-dresses as Marvel Girl... well, hey, that screams X-status.

so did anyone pick up the new Bishop mini or does everyone hate him?

I thought it was an ok first issue but I don't care for Stroman's areI hated his recent X-factor art, but this art art wasn't as bad as X-factor in this book but that doesn't mean it was good art. the story didn't really add anything that we didn't know to Bishop though it was his birth, him at age 7 being told by his grandmother(who looks like Storm) about some of the events of HOM and Messiah Complex and then of all the hope the baby from MC gave everyone for the future of mutants and that if she never came his mom and dad wouldn't have existed. then his parents get killed as a result of the SUMMERS REBELLION. then 7 year old Bishop states why he wants to kill the baby "If that girl hadn't come along, there would have been no mommy and daddy. but that girl had come. And it was like Daddy or Mommy had been born just to die." then he is chased by mutant hunters for like a second escapes goes to Manhattan to hide where he runs into Cable. so the reason Bishop wants to kill the baby is cause his parents got killed in the future and he blames the past not the people who killed them.

Actually I think it was Gambit rather than Cable.

that would make more sense considering how he was talking. I didn't even notice the red eye. when he said "I'm an X-man" I thought Cable instantly. but Gambit makes more sense. it would be easier to tell if Stroman didn't draw people weird

I just read Uncanny 287, Gambit is in it as The Witness, an old dude with long white hair. I can see that this guy was Gambit as The Witness and could be easily confused as someone else. Plus, Stroman's art is so horrible, how can you really tell who anyone is? :p

Despite the fact that, once I realized Stroman was doing art, I had every intention to just skip this, my suspicion that Swierczynski's writing would be strong enough to make it worth reading is probably the case.

And i have no idea why people consider Captain Britain & MI13 an X-Book as well....

thats the problem with horrible artwork it can hurt good writing. The first read i didn't care for it but the second read after I posted on here I enjoyed it. the art is still horrible its funny Stroman wasn't pulled off X-Factor for being awful he dropped the book to do this mini.

why why why why where the hell is Deleandro going if he leaves they should bring back Raimondi where the hell did he go anyways.

Horrible art can never hurt good writing, and vice versa: horrible writing can never hurt good art.

If something is good - if something is beautiful, or artsy, or well-done - then that's what it is. A is A. B is B. Good is good.

Bad writing or bad art can detract from the overall quality of something, sure. Considering the medium is a bridging of the two worlds, that's an obvious point. But they are two worlds, and one world can never ruin the other world. Aside from the merging for purposes of the medium, they do not overlap.

I think it was clear that I meant Stroman's awful art made it hard to enjoy the good writing. thats what I meant by it can hurt good writing.

ps Outcry never joke about Stroman coming back to X-Factor if he's ever back on the book its your fault

if x-factor were cancelled. i wouldnt cry. at all. PAD is not my favorite writer. and any book with Siryn in it is an automatic FAIL to me.
