No movie is worth a ten IMO,i mean that suggests perfection.......However the new one being made with both Scarlett and Nathalie in may be my first 10:o

I never rate a movie 10, and I never rate 0 either, but then again I don´t even bother seeing the movies I might rate 0 - you can´t put a gun to my head to make me see something like, say, Glitter...

I give it a solid 6...not bad, but the sequel needs some work.

I saw the film yesterday and while watching it I was wondering "Why did people hate this? This is fcking awesome." and then came the piano scene. I was like wtf? you can't be fcking serious. That is the only thing I hate about the movie. Making Superman have a son. Gahh. At least it was done better than in the Lemkin script but anyway.

At the point I was giving it a 4 out of 5, but the kiddie thing drops one star out of it. I really need to see this again 'cause aside the son I really enjoyed the film.

Gene Hackman can go cry in the corner. Kevin Spacey rocks. Superman: The Movie is highly overrated movie anyway.

EDIT: Oh, and, it didn't feel long to me. I like long movies so that might have something to do with it. But I didn't felt it was too long.

And, yes, it was better than X3. In your face Tom Rothman.

I remember having this as a puzzle in 1973. That is why I remember when I saw Reeve onscreen for the first time I was like "Damn. He really looks like Supes stepped off the page." so did the suit, and the Big S on his chest.

Erm...yeah, that's sounds about right to me. Seeing as I gave it a ten and thought it was great. I mean, I still think the first two films with Christopher Reeve are the best, but I still loved it. :supes:

Hmmm, I wouldn´t say exactly... After him, yes, artists draw him like a carbon copy of Reeve.

hmm what did they change?

That's the problem. I'll come out and say it right now: Something is really wrong with you.

Saw the movie this week, but wasn't overly impressed. It is a well directed (visually) and stunning film to look at, with damn good FX.

Spacey is fantastic, and was better than I expected it to be. I was dead against Kate Bosworth as Lois, but she did win a little favour with me. I still think she's a little too young but she acted the part very well.

Routh I thought from the trailers made a very good Clark, but there wasn't much that wasn't included in the trailers of his Clark. I did like his turn as Superman. I was afraid he would be bland, but he wasn't. However, he lacks Christopher Reeve's charm. This shouldn't be an issue, but it is made to be by having him repeat situations and lines of dialogue that Reeve had already done in the previous movies. It's like they were begging for the two to be compared.

Anything negative I have mentioned so far would not have made me dislike the movie; it would have been good but not great. Unfortunatly the script and specifically Superman's characterisation were way off in my opinion. Call me old fashioned but to me Superman is perfection; the superior alien being sent to earth to help. His morals are strong, and his life is dedicated to helping everyone. Superman 2 had dealt with Kal El giving up his responsibilities to live like a human and have a life. He saw that he was needed and unselfishly gave up his life to become the Kryptonian perfect saviour, dedicated to the people on Earth. That is how Superman 2 ends, so I am not buying his uping and leaving for 5 years. Some might disagree with me on that, because they thought they fund Krypton, but I just feel the characterwouldn't do that.

The lack of morals slowly builds up upon his return to Earth. In the movies what once was "I never drink when I fly" turned into Clark Kent going down to a bar and knocking back Budweisers when he finds out that Lois is a mother. That was my first hint that all was not well with the character.

I have issues with the "Truth, Justice and American Way" thing. I wasn't too surprised that they didn't have the brass to say "American Way" what with current politics. But truth and justice? Having sex out of wedlock, leaving a woman pregnant, fathering an illegitimate child and letting the man who has raised the child for 5 years carrying on living a lie that he is the real father. This from the man who claims that he never lies. Is that truth and justice in your book?

To keep up with the comic book movies of recent years, you need conflict within the main character and an issue for him. It is really difficult to do this for Superman, because he is the perfect boy scout character. If they don't make things difficult for him, then there is no movie. You want a plight for your hero that the audience can sympathize with and understand. Fair enough. But using the child story was a bad choice in my book. I would rather have seen Superman deal with having a split reception upon his return. I mean for a world that gave a Pulitzer for an article "Why the world doesn't need Superman" everyone seemed very quick to welcome him back, didn't they?

Anyway those are my main likes and dislikes about the movie. Don't mind discussing them but not out for a flame war, and definitely not hating on the movie because I can.
4 stars out of 10.

Why? Because I liked a movie you didn't? Actually the majority of people on these boards likes it..just look at the poll results..don't be upset that you are in the minority..it will be ok.

Would it be wrong if I watched a bootleg copy of SR?
Yes. Very wrong. Not to mention, very illegal. Not to mention it takes money out of Warner Brother employees pockets.

Your "arguments" have nothing to do with the fact that bootlegging is illegal. Whether the film is meant to be experienced in the theater or not is immaterial.

i explained that guy that this movie is not meant to be watched in a theater so he can watch it at home. i really dont care if he will do it ilegal or legal. i dont care ok?

i just want to help this guy. i want to help him so that he doesnt pay money for a movie that has no action.

And that's fine. But that's not the argument.

And it's a sad time when the only movies worth watching on film have "tons of action." Michael Bay must be beside himself.

This movie was forgettable... I already forgot what happened. lol

I gave it an 8 though, if I remember correctly. It wasnt bad, but wasnt perfect either.

i dont think like that. but a action has to have some action right?
comic book movies are action movies right? well so then superman is in a way an action movie. and this movie had no action.

maybe because of the plane scene. but still it is a hell lot of money for a superman movie with so little action.

No. Comic book movies are comic book movies. I don't think that comic book movies necessitate action.

ok i made a mistake. but a superman movie is an action movie

Nope. I don't think so. It's probably why the comic book movies I like are more character oriented and rely less on action.

Superman's primarily been an action oriented superhero since the first time I've known of him.

And that's great for you. My favorite Superman stories do not involve a lot of action. You have your preference and I have mine.

What's really amazing is that the potential for epic action in a superman story is practically limitless considering how powerful he and his enemies are.
