I think something that seems to get lost in a lot of these movies, and was finally coming to a head with Superman Returns and X-Men 3, is the discussion of the writers behind these movies.

Alvin Sargent to me has always been an interesting choice. The guy is 76 years old and he's writing a Spider-Man movie! I think that is just so cool. He has an amazing writing credit to his name, including Spider-Man 2 and Unfaithful.

So I suppose this thread is geared towards the writing behind this film. Dialogue and the like. So far, it looks like Alvin's done a solid job integrating a theme of revenge into this movie. Something else I Find interesting is that we still have responsiblity being played upon, as Peter says, "he has to stop it." He's got this power which leads him to horrible acts of revenge and yet still, in the end by facing Venom, he has to confront it and take responsibility for his actions.

I think this is a great idea for a thread. I am also always interested with the writers of films, but I never thought to analyze one who is working on a film not yet released. So far, the dialogue is amazing. I think that every single line in the new trailer we got is incredible. You can find out a lot of what the story will be like by just looking at the writer. This guy has done some great movies, as well as the previous Spider-Man, so I have no doubt in him. Also, all of his movies seem to have a hidden aspect of comedy in various parts; such as Hero and What About Bob. I just can't wait for the actual movie; or next trailer that is.

spider-man 2's script owned spider-man 1's script and alvin wrote that one so i say keep him.

If I liked Spidey 2 script, then I will like this one.

Besides, I loved dialogues and all these stuff about vengeance in trailer.

I really hope this one tops Spidey 2's script. We'll see.

I don't know about topping, but it should surely be it's equal.

I'm only worried that there won't be enough humor in this one... the last one was held together by great little jokes and quips... all we have confirmed for this one is chris tucker... bleh.

^^^

I hope this time there will be less jokes and campy scenes.

Spidey 3 is gonna be the darkest Spidey movie, which should also stay as very serious drama film.

Even serious movies put in a few jokes... otherwise, interest is lost.

Yes, sure there should be a few jokes, but not so much.

I just believe that the jokes were a major strong-point for the last film. I think the screenwriter should stick with what works. Of course I'm not asking for a chinese lady to be singing spider-man while someone is dying or something, but yeah... there should be a good balance of light-hearted scenes.

Even the serious Spider-Man comics were campy and had lots of jokes. This is Spider-Man not Batman.

It better not change much.

Raimi is more responsible for the jokes. Just look at the video on MTV overdrive with his assistant.

His assistant has a small role in a class room scene and is torturing Peter by reflecting light into his eye.

also I think Alvin Sargent won an Oscar for Ordinary People or something. Or maybe he was just nominated. Whatever the case he is alot better than David Koep who has always been simply mediocre.

oh yeah koepp is very safely safely middle of the road sort...I dunno why speilberg keeps on using the guy and for Indy 4?! wah

Comics don't matter, it is the movie.

And besides, Spidey 3 is the darkes Spidey movie in Raimi's trilogy, so it should become much more serious movie than previous were.

Of course, there also should be jokes, but not so campy.
