The Amazing Spider-Man Dennis Leary in negotiations for George Stacy

Hey guys, just thought I would let you know if you join Denis Leary's facebook you can see an interview with him from about a month back. Anyway, he basically says that his character in Spider-man acts as something of a mentor to Spidey.

Link to his page please?:yay:

I like this

OK, well if he's chasing Spider-man and hes a mentor to him, then maybe he acts as a Jim Gordon in the new Batman (based on the end of TDK); he likes Spider-man and knows what hes really like but for the public image he chases and treats Spidey like a ciminal.

That could be a really interesting and fun plot line/sub plot. Let's hope they follow through with it.

I'm liking the sound of this. Again, it seems like they're taking ideas from Spectacular Spider-man, something I'm very firmly in support of.

just looking at the images that have been released so far (peter and gwen, the suit and now capt stacy) you can definetly feel this movie will be set to the more modern society and way of things. no officers running around with hats and just cruisers like the previous trilogy. im sure they will have more of a real enforcement vibe to them (they way it should be). and im hoping they dont kill george off in the first film. his character aiding spider-man would definetly be a nice change of things. i dont want to see it use the same angle that gordon and batman have tho, maybe by the end of the film he will decide to aid him. i think itd be cool to see him pursue him through the film tho until the end.

A mentor to Spidey? That's awesome.

Stacy always liked Peter, and Peter looked up to him a bit so that's no real surprise, is it?
And it was portrayed that maybe Stacy knew Peter was Spidey.

You know what's sad, we're gonna hear Begins / Dark Knight comparissons of Gordon / Batman relationship when the Stacey / Spidey relationship was there in the comics...

... I can't wait for the ignorant media and critics to point that one out... .oyy

I really hope there's a scene where Captain Stacy expresses his love for the Yankees. Denni's Leary is from my town in MA, and he's the type to wear Red Sox jearsey's in the middle of Time's square. That would be really funny to me.

So... do you think they are going to kill him off by the end of this movie? I really hope not.

Hopefully, they'll build him up as a beoved supporting character and, if there's sequels, kill him off brutally in the second or third to tug away at the heart strings.

I think the Spidey/Captain Stacy dynamic will be a great part of the film.

Well, the first sets pics we got with Gwen (one with Flash beside her as well) with a bunch of police officers at a funeral seems to indicate he will die by the end of this movie.

It's entirely possible that stacy chases Spidey AND befriends him. At first with jjj stacy thinks Spidey is a menace but when he sees the hero in Spidey he becomes spidey's friend in the police.

Very true. I'm just so happy to hear it, lol.

They could have at least given Leary a mustache. Why make him younger? I mean with how faithful the new and better Marvel movies are I'm surprised they cast him. Look at thunderbolt ross in The Incredible Hulk, they made sure he looked just like him. Mustache and all.

I just don't like any differences after all the other movies were such crap, even the old Spidey movies weren't all they were cracked up to be. They had too many awkward moments, and Tobey sucked as Spidey. He was just too weird looking and too dorky even for Pete. I never thought of Pete as that nerdy, brainy at times yes, but not a flat out dork.

I'm glad they rebooted Spider-man. The new guy looks like Peter Parker. Younger and he just fits.

Oh well, I guess I can over look a younger Stacy, since I'm sure the movie will be much better. In league with the new faithful Marvel Movies.
