As I said in another thread, I think it's obvious what happens at the end, lol.MTV posted this little interview with Leary talked a little about the ending of the film..unintentionally...After those funeral set pics came out in Dec.
"I'm not allowed to say anything about the ending of 'Spider-Man' or the ending of 'Rescue Me,' " he told us at the opening festivities for the Tribeca Film festival. "It's verboten! I can't tell you!"

So let me get this straight--the lead from "Rescue Me" who plays a crazy, self-destructive firefighter, a guy who built his rep as a chain-smoking, foul-mouthed, sarcastic blue comic, may be playing the part of Gwen Stacy's dad?
Seriously, what the **** is with the casting on this movie?!
Which kinda bugs me. I wish many of these films would actually allow proper space for stuff to unfold. I think [blackout]having Capt. Stacey die in the first film is rushing it. We want to care about him and have it make a lasting impression(even moreso when Gwen dies). It'll be harder to make Stacey's death have a lasting impression in this film than it would be if he made it through ASM and then bit it in a sequel.[/blackout] It takes TIME to make that happen in such a way that it really wallops the audience emotionally.
E. G. : Darth Vader telling Luke that he was his father wouldn't have had near the impact if it had happened at the end of A New Hope.
I wish these studios(and ALL have been guilty of it to one degree or another) wouldn't blow their wad like an over-excited teenager after the prom but accept that they're in this for the long haul and give these special moments from the comic's stories the proper room to develop for maximum effect on the audience.
Ok, rant over.
I think its more about how us caring about how it affects Pete and his relationship with Gwen more than actually caring about him.
This Spider-Man is darker, but is there some humor in it as well?
LEARY: It’s a darker story, but there are some very funny things in it. Some of them were scripted, and some of them came out of the work.
George Stacy actually really hates Peter Parker in the comics, but what did you think of Andrew Garfield?
LEARY: I loved Andrew. I really did. I thought he was great.
What did you think of him as a superhero?
LEARY: He’s terrific in the role. He was trained as a gymnast, when he was growing up in England, which came in handy. Most of the stunts in the movie are done live, in front of the cameras. There’s a ton of stuff. He’s just a terrific actor. I really loved working with him. I thought he was great. Same thing with Emma [Stone]. They’re actually more mature than I am, so that says a lot. They’re really incredibly talented and really professional. She’s 22 years old. I don’t want to tell you what I was doing when I was 22 years old. I was very impressed by her.
Are you definitely set for Spider-Man 2 and 3?
LEARY: Yeah. I guess they officially announced it yesterday.
Does Captain Stacy have the walking stick, like he does in the comics?
LEARY: No. Not yet, anyway.
Did you read the old Stan Lee comics to get familiar with them?
LEARY: No, I didn’t. I’m more of a Batman guy. Not the ‘60s Batman, but the really dark Batman. My wife was a Spider-Man nut, which is why I went to the Tobey Maguire ones. I have a good friend, Jeff Garlin, who is a Spider-Man freak, and he was the first guy that said to me, “The first time I met you, I thought you were George Stacy,” and that was 30 years ago. He had an old comic book frame on his computer and he showed it to me, and I was like, “You’re sick!,” and he was like, “No, I’m a Spider-Man freak.” People take it very seriously.
Is your hair the same, or does it go grey like Captain Stacy’s?
LEARY: I don’t know if I’m allowed to say. Every time you say something about this ****ing movie, they go crazy.
Is it really that different from the Tobey Maguire films?
LEARY: Yeah. The tone is very different.

It f---ing better be.LEARY: Yeah. The tone is very different.
Good question. I think it might be Uncle Ben, but in the trailer, you can see Gwen looking up towards the camera at the funeral. She could be looking at SPidey, which leads me to believe it may not be Uncle Ben.So I guess no one caught that comment: Collider,"So you are definitely set for TAS 2 & 3? Dennis,"Yeah, I guess they officially announced it yesterday."
Which begs the question, Who's funeral are they attending, since it now appears not to be Captain Stacey's?
