The story is very much like that of Logan's Run. I can definately see the movie's sci-fi influences.

May give it a try eventually (don't have much time during weekdays, but maybe the weekend).

transformers the number 1 movie of the year domestic?

NO CHANCE.

a) too much competition.

Anyone watch the MTV movie awards? POTC2 won best movie what best movie. Which sucks because their was no way in hell that movie was better than 300 or Borat. Teenage girls must have stuffed the votes.

I make sure that I don't watch MTV at all let alone their awards which have always been a joke.

I hope Die Hard bombs. That looks like a disgrace to cinema. Horrible story and pathetically fake action.

Come on dude, its die hard nobody wants it to bomb but it looks as though it'l be a brainless action movie, nowhere near as good as die hard 1. That pg-13 rating doesn't help either. However, John Rambo looks like a cot damn awesome movie, its look violent as fu*k, can't wait to see it.

Did my spelling mistakes some how make us not ok?

Far to often people seem to forget this is the internet typo's happen and I don't plan to spend more time than I need to on a post to make sure there are no errors in spelling or grammar. I have better things to do with my time and I simply don't care.

As I said, now we're okay. :hyper:

It just looks pathetic. It is no better than any crappy average action movie, and seeing those bomb always brings me a smile. It look terrible, and the action looks incredibly fake.

Should never have done it.

Oh, and the title sucks, too.

In all of the trailers I have seen the action looks fine I don't see it as anymore fake than any other action movie. Not sure which trailer you have seen. The title does suck though I'm worried about the PG13 rating as well.

So how about that Spiderman? (don't want to get in trouble for not talking about the same exact box office number every 5 second of the entire day.

That car hitting the helicoptor is horrible. As is that car flipping and smashing into the two cars (where Willis ducks).

Yeah, Spider-Man...doing real good at that BO.

'Pirates' Sinks, 'Knocked Up' Scores

It was rough sailing for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End in its second weekend. The supernatural swashbuckler had one of the steepest post-Memorial Day opening drops on record, falling 62 percent to an estimated $43.2 million.

Fending off potent opener Knocked Up to top the box office heap again, At World's End's tally stands at $216.5 million. At the same point, predecessor Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest was down 54 percent to $62.3 million for a $258.4 million total. Earlier in the season, Spider-Man 3 was off a precipitous 62 percent in its second weekend, though it made $58.2 million for the frame and its total was at $240.2 million.

At World's End is on course to fall well short of Dead Man's Chest's $423.3 million by the end of its run, joining Shrek the Third and Spider-Man 3 as hyped sequels in major franchises that failed to live up to their previous movies. These pictures are popular and may be profitable despite massive production and marketing costs but, since they are sequels, a key measure of their success is performance in relation to their predecessors. Significantly lower attendance adds a layer of disappointment.

Among holdovers, Shrek the Third slipped 50 percent to an estimated $26.7 million, while Spider-Man 3 faded 48 percent to an estimated $7.5 million. Both trail their previous pictures by wide margins.

Hasnt SM3 now SURPASSED both it's previous movies?

Worldwide yep. These reports make me sick. They don't tell you the whole deal. It's making less than the other two domestically "It's a failure" Oh yeah, it's made more worldwide in a month than the other two during their entire run! Explain that!

^ Do yourself a favor and watch The Island. It's not a typical Bay film and has influences from all the best Sci-Fi films including Blade Runner, Star Wars, Logan's Run, Anthem, Total Recall, etc...

Bad Boy and Pearl were crap to me as well though I thought Armageddon (though ridiculous & had Affleck) was very fun.

You do know the Island was basically an unauthorized remake of a little known 70's Sci Fi flick that MST3K lampooned called Parts: The Clonus Horror right? Dreamworks settled with the director and producer of Clonus in an out of court settlement.

I think the Island was an okay movie that should have been directed by someone else. Not A Bay hater, but his style didn't fit to me. I think it's perfect for Transformers though. That could end up being his best movie.

What drives me nuts is the statement that both Shrek 3 and Spidey 3 trail their franchise's previous installment by WIDE MARGINS.

POTC 3 will finish about $135 million away from POTC 2's gross ($300 million to $435 million)

Shrek 3 will finish about $140 million away from Shrek 2's gross. ($300 million to $445 million)

Spidey 3 will finish about $25 million out of Spidey 2's gross. ($345 million to $373 million)

$25 million is HARDLY a wide margin. Jesus, sweet christ. How can a professional writer group these films together in such a context as to say they will finish far away from their previous installments!? Shrek and POTC, yes! Spidey? HELL NO!

Spidey 3 is a roaring success, even domestically--and even in the context of Spidey 1 and 2. $340-350 million is one hell of a run for a film, especially considering the bashing Spidey 3 has had to endure.

Agreed! How the heck can Spidey 3 been seen as a failure!?! That is so stupid!! With that being said, I think Shrek 3, and POTC3 companies should be shot! To release all 3 of these movies in the same month within a 4 week time frame is stupid! They should have not had so much of a big ego to see who would budge first. It's stupid but you may the same thing next year in May with IronMan.........and some other movies that I forgot!
Back to the SM3 bo, I know a lot of studios who would love for their marque superhero to have similiar numbers..........especially the ones who fly around in little red capes. :woot:

That broke my feelings :csad:

I love the movie of the one that flies around in little red capes

And the previous spidey movies didn't have such a strong competition, IMO

it's like the only total that matters is domestic :whatever:

In America it usually is. Not a knock on any other countries but when your in America the numbers that you hear the most are the domestic numbers. Most people only go by domestic numbers unless of course they really like a movie and want it to do better and in the other countries it is. Then they say

it's like the only total that matters is domestic :whatever:
