Maguire and Dunst are hardly the only talented young actors in Hollywood.

True but all the young actors out there arn't talented and there is a good chance we will get the untalented ones. Not to mention there are plenty of untalented directors that we could end up with if we don't get Raimi. Who's up for an SM4 version of X3 ?

You really don't make any sense to me. There is no rational or logical explination for that thought yet you still have it. There is not one reason to think that Shrek three will beat SM3 at the box office in fact all logic points the other way and yet you still refuse to go with logic.
And just what do you think Shrek will end up making, domestically?

About 10M less. It will be sort of close at best but it won't beat Sm3. SM3 will be some where around 335 - 338

Shrek will be in the 325- 330 area at best. It may not be as far behind as it was but the fact of the matter is it is still behind.

Yeah. The same people who gave us the talented actors for the first 3 movies will do something totally opposite and give us untalented ones, just for the hell of it.

And your right, Raimi is the only good director out there who likes Spider-Man, no one else could possibly have a better vision for Spider-Man. Raimi has that perfect let's make Sandman Uncle Ben's killer vision, let's link every single villain to Peter Parker vision. Oh it's so beautiful!

Hmm your sarcasm is wonderful I was being very polite and just simply disagreeing.

Raimi did an amazing job with the movies the third wasn't perfect but that was because he was trying so hard to please everyone instead of just doing what he wanted like he did in the first two.

As far as the studio going the other way lets be honest they didn't cast the movie. They said ok we will accept this choice that was it. So if they bring in a ****ty director you know the type like maybe a Brett Ratner type guy he will do the ****ty casting. Tobey isn't the only good young actor but he is the only one I can picture as Peter Parker. I don't see anyone else who actually looks the part that can actually act.

I can't speak for him but I'm guessing he was making fun of the few who believe Spiderman 3 failed at the boxoffice.

Spider-Man didn't fail and it's obvious he was joking to me. Look how overcrowded May was. Hell Shrek and Pirates all 3 weeks apart like that? Jeez. If you don't have totally fresh content people will wait for the DVD after seeing it once. Not to mention piracy.

Who said it failed? I don't believe one person has said that. We are all just saying it didn't do as good as was expected Domestic. I don't think there is one person in the world who thinks it flat out failed.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Pirates 3 now has $ 904.7 million worldwide, putting it at # 1 in terms of WW box office for 2007.

It's true. BOM already has the updated numbers.

600k for Spidey domestically this weekend. Total is not $333,691,000

SM3 underperformed? Maybe to the fans. But the studio always projected only above $300 million. They never said 400 or more than SM2. Most likely they were targeting $330-$350 taking in the law of diminishing returns for sequels.

The surprise was it was a bigger hit overseas making it near $900 million million WW, the largest take of the trilogy. It may not have topped fanboy desires and dreams of breaking $400 million or $500 million, but it did as well as expected in the US and even better out.

SM3 beat both of its previous movies worldwide, you can't really ask for a better cume for a third film of a comic book franchise. Sony is extremely content, no doubt.

Fanboys were pissed that SM1 didn't beat Titanic, how foolish are they?

So why exactly, after bringing in someone with passion for the first 3 movies, would they bring someone totally left field without a passion for Spider-Man for the next 3 movies?

That's really unfortunate Tmag is the only actor you can see as Peter Parker. Let me ask you this, before Spider-Man was cast, who did you see as Peter Parker? Did you already envision Tobey Maguire? Because that's what you basically said in your post.

And the movie you said would get critically killed is doing pretty good so far, Transformers.

Not to mention that, as we speak, Sony is already talking about the next sequel, that´s a clear indication that they´re happy with the result. The movie more than compensated its domestic drop with the international gains, and even its domestic loss was considerably more moderate than the ones Shrek3 and POTC3 had compared to the previous installment.
