It may happen because we don't get Tobey and Raimi back, who really knows? Personally, 885M is above and beyond what I thought SM3 was going to do. I thought that it would struggle to make 700M worldwide. Beating out your previous movie by 100M worldwide is a damn big deal.

is the re release at then end of the Summer with added venom just rumor or fact?

Supposedly longer and cut differently

Spidey got an increase in theater count that's why. It went from 181 to 447.

885 million is simply astounding. Eat your heart out Warner Brothers.

I haven't checked the box office lately. How are Transformers and Harry Potter doing? Do they have a shot at all of beating Spidey 3 for top box office draw this year? From what I've seen, those two films are the last released that could threaten Spidey's numbers.

I remember hearing this back in May too. Yea that was just a rumor.

Absolutely.

I guess Transformers has a slight chance to reach or at least get very close to Spidey 3in the domestic BO, but it´s gonna need really great legs.

Hmm...Transformers is looking at a 338-342M domestic tally. Depending on how well Harry Potter does this weekend, it too could cross the 300M mark.

No Potter film since the first has made over $300 million, and I'd bet a paycheck that the latest one is as heavily front loaded as the last few. I think it'll gross between $290 and $300 million despite it's huge start.

I personally thought Transformers was the better of the two films, but I just don't see it getting to $330 million. This weekend will be THE definitive telling sign of it's legs, but I think it'll die out around $312 million... slightly ahead of Pirates AWE.

Update. :)

Domestic: $335,156,910 37.8%
+ Foreign: $550,909,507 62.2%
= Worldwide: $886,066,417

Did you forget movies like Chuck and Larry, Hairspray, The Simpsons, Rush Hour 3 and Bourne Ultimatum are being released in the coming weeks. It would have to have some strong holds and legs to reach that.

That's true. Sometimes I do forget about these other films. Damn, will they ever stop releasing movies one on top of the other this year?
