OFFICIAL: Theatrical Trailer Thread

Caught it on youtube. Very good trailer. Silver Surfer looks awesome, loved the part where he takes on the missles. Would have liked a bit more of Doom, but no biggie.

SURF'S UP: NEW AND FANTASTIC

I'm gasping for air. Not because the new Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surver trailer is that good, although I think it is pretty damn spiffy. No, it's because I've been forced to consider the possibility that the film itself may be an absolute blast. I may have to go in with an open mind and enjoy the hell out of this. I've already ordered the Tim Story effigies and they weren't cheap, I tell you (Priority Mail for 30 of those is a *****). So why now do they have to pull the rug out from under me?

I kid. Tim Story may thus far be a very mediocre filmmaker, but he's one of the few black filmmakers who get the chance to do material this big, and based on this trailer, he's defying my every low expectation. It starts off with a slow build to the arrival of the Surfer, but once he gets there, this thing hits the pedal and doesn't let up. There's a silly aside where Ben and Johnny switch powers briefly, and that's exactly the sort of craziness that evokes the spirit of the book, but will annoy fanboys anyway (In fact, it leads to a brief shot of Johnny showing Super-Skrull-esque multi-powers). Morpheus The Surfer speaks a smidgen. The stakes look to be so much higher. Doom makes his presence known. And best of all, it ends on a pretty nice money shot of The Surfer treating ground-to-air missiles like gnats.

The trailer is nice, but so was X3 - At this point, it's a wait and see based on Tim Story's pathetic first film. Let's hope he can release a film this time around that actually gets some respect and has an actual story with good performances....

Milk, you make my day. Why can't you just give it a chance ? Pathetic ? I don't think so. Try it, you might like it.

Yeah it's not a SSkrull at all. It's Johnny with his Torch powers and thing powers combined.

And maybe a little Reed... the way the fist seems to get larger and the arm stretches back there...

Sure it's no SSkrull, but at least we'll get to see something similar to one in this movie(regardless of who it is).

And that is enough for me.

I must say that this trailer rocked and in the spirit of comparison, let's see how the visuals have improved over the course of a few months.

I must say while the teaser had near perfect SFX, the final trailer has definiately improved on all aspects. I'm glad SS doesn't have those hollow eyes and white pupils. Plus the texture seems alot smoother and glistens more with reflection. thank god Weta is doing the visuals.

I think Spiderman 3, Pirates, Harry Potter and Transformers are in tough competition for best SFX oscar this year.

Great trailer!! I hope the film turns out to be as good as the trailer implies.

The trailer looks GREAT!!! It's nice to see the second flim is taking itself more seriously!! The action has taken a HUGE STEP UP and everything looks promising!! But so did others before...but there's still hope right?:csad:

I though the trailer was actually pretty good. I might go see this in the theaters

Milkman was giving it a chance, read his post next time and don't just jump on people when they say something negative.

the story of the teaser was far better

the surfer didn't come off as such a big threat and i wished they would have shown doom's tie in a bit better

but they have other trailers to showcase this in.

ooo now that everyone has been talking a super skrull story line would be pretty damn awesome to see on screen. It really needs to be done sometime soon.

I have to say - the trailer looks awesome. I'm hoping this film will be what X2 was to X-Men. A bigger, better movie. So far, it looks that way! It looks alot darker with crisis being on a worldwide level - not just NYC. Glad to see it kept some of it's humour, cos' Fantastic Four was always a little cheesier then the other comics. I'm glad they didn't show Doom or Galactus, I would like some things to be a surprise. I hate trailers that basically show the whole movie.

I officially can't wait for this movie to come out.

Do u think we all might have to congratulate Tim Story for doing something right? Scary thought!

LUV the trailer!!!

Not sure if this has been covered befor or not but will this trailer play for Spider-Man 3?

Yeah, it will be playing with Spider-Man 3. :)

Whoa, the difference in the graphics on the surfer are cool! I never noticed them before!

Gotta say I love the new trailer, but I have one problem. And not with the film itself. Just a little personal quirk that always bothers me. It has to do with this shot.

The x-ray hanging just to Sue's left is what is referred to as a K.U.B. (kidneys-ureters-bladder shot). Several things are wrong here. The film is fogged (therefore undiagnostic), the bladder is clipped, and the film is hanging UPSIDEDOWN!!!!!!! The pelvis is on top of the spine! I hate that crap!

Just like the first few seasons of Scrubs where the chest x-ray in the opening credits was hung backwards (with the heart on the wrong side).

It's not that big of a deal, but if you're on the crew and you go out and get a viewbox for hanging x-rays, and then you go out to the local hospital and get tossed away films, just ask somebody how to hang the films.

Also there is a lower leg film (distal femur, knee and proximal tib/fib) that is hung upside down. And there is even an MRI image of a T1 sagittal brain that would never realistically be filmed as one-on-one like it is.

It's not a big deal, but it pulls ME out of the moment.

:yay:

Other than that... GREAT TRAILER.

I gotta say, I saw the trailer, and I don't reckon Johnny has other powers. To me he looks like he's simply mimiking the stretchiness and size with a fist of flame.

Thats just me and I'm prob wrong.

 Are those nipples? Did Joel Schumaker have a hand in this?

That's really cool DP! Thanks for the comparison. I thought the Surfer looked a lot better, but that really illustrates it.

o_O

Wow.

The trailer does look like a MARKED improvement over the first movie, BUT, some of the spoilers i have read in the novelisation thread sound REALLY poor.

OMG...Norrin does have nippleage. LOL :p

He hereby is dubbed the most anatomically correct Marvel Movie character evar.
