Aw, that makes me sad and amused simultaneously.
yea he probably didnt make it in the lastest draft of the film. But there is still others we didnt hear about either. So maybe they just wanted to hold off on a few for sequels.
According to IMDB (I know, about as reliable as the local weatherman) Mathias Schweighofer is rumored to be involved. He'd be a good Balder, if that's the case.
if balder was to be in the film it probably would have been announced already.
If they ever use Balder, just get Liam Hemsworth lol
I hope they treat Balder the same as they did in the first draft.
Having not read the 1st draft, I have to ask:-
How did they treat him?
From what I've heard, Balder was an old fogey in the first draft. I definitely hope that's not how they treat him if he is in the film.
He was not that old... he was like an older brother to Thor, like 5-8 years older, already married, more responsible. IMO, he didn't had much to do in the first draft.
He even got killed accidentally by Mjolnir at the end of the first act. But "killed" in a way that you know he's coming back in the sequel.
Sounds lame because it doesn't actually sound like Balder. At all. Might as well take a frost giant and name him Balder, for all the similarity that description has to the actual character.
Yeah, I didn't like the way he was portrayed either. I'd prefer if they save him for a sequel, where he gets more screentime and all that stuff.
Balder certainly deserves better treatment.
yea he is likely out of the film among a few other asgard characters. So they have things to do in possible sequels if they get more.
Eh, not particularly happy about Balder possibly being out of the film, but it's certainly better than having a terrible portrayal of him shoehorned into it. I'd rather wait and hope they bring him in next time around.
Balder will be the War Machine of the Thor sequel, in a way.
Rhodey was at least in the first Iron Man film, though. Maybe Balder will have a little cameo in Thor, at least...
Is the start of the film set in the past? Maybe Balder is still a kid Asgardian at that point. Then by the time Thor returns to Asgard after being banished he is more grown up or something?
I can't see Balder being like War Machine though... Beta Ray Bill but Not Balder..... though it is Saddening that we have yet to hear about Balder being in the film or not
I would be quite shocked to ever see Beta Ray Bill in live-action. I love Bill but I just can't imagine how he wouldn't look either too horrific or too silly.
Thor and Balder are around the same age. They grew up together and were best friends.
Well that's what i mean, maybe they are changing it in the film so that Balder is Thor's younger brother.
But that would suck.
Not saying it wouldn't. Just seems strange that there has been literally no word about Balder at all.
Well most of the entire First draft except for maybe five minutes of the end of the film was set entirely in the Viking era. We have no idea exactly what is going on time wise now, nobody's seen the newer script. They could show different incidents that lead up to Thor being banished in our period.
well i still say if we havent heard anything now and that film has like a month or so left of filming. They probably left out that character so it could be something brought in for sequel like a few other characters we know are not in the film. Though i could see the character getting a mention.
Yeah well I hope he hasn't been Cut myself. They need to at least mention Balder in the Film.
