Very valid & interesting points danielisthor! I bet you are right that he will not be portrayed like that in a movie, though. If they are going for "realism" they might, but I doubt it. The source comics didn't.Not that it will even be thought of by the producers, but there is a drast contrast between the "look" of a Norse God to that of a Roman/Greek God. Where a Roman/Greek God would be tall, lean and cut much like what the Trojans looked like in 300, but a Norse God would be tall and thick much like an NFL Lineman. The Norse Gods lived in a violent world, not just in their wars with the Frost Giants and the Trolls, but with the elements. They feasted nightly and drank many a horn of mead after thier daily battles. Norse Gods were born and bred for brute strength and war and should look it. Tall with thick necks, broad shoulders, and barrel chested. They wouldn't have six pack abs and probably even have a touch of a stomach, and large thick legs.
Thats my take on what Thor and any "Asgardian Male" should look like. Except Loki.

I would like the same actor as well. But you don't even need to go into having the actor lose & gain weight. Crippling the character is good enough. Just because an actor has muscles, doesn't mean he can't look weak due to a serious injury.Wouldn't u guys rather someone who can REALLY ACT as Dr. Blake and then put on the muscle and once again ACT as THOR also?? For all of you who THINK THOR wont have to act and will just slam a hammer, fight and brag about being thor...u r WAAAAAY off... Thor will have to emote and go through some trials and tribulations also, so some muscle head will NOT due!
Here's a recent pic of Alexander from a promo of Trueblood.

^Urban would be a great choice!

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm tONle?A real novel, oirignal, outside the box casting choice for sure...![]()

Not bad. I think it has been suggested before. Between LOTR and Pathfinder he definitely has experience in this type of roles.I don't know if he's been mentioned before but how about Karl Urban, Eomer from the last 2 LOTR movies?
Some really good shots of James Preston Rogers from his MySpace page. I'd definitely screen test this guy.
