I took you for a *****ebag who doesn't know what he's talking about. For that I apologize.
No problem, I mean I AM trying to convince people
Kevin Nash would make a great THOR

t:
Honestly I'm not surprised by the response I've gotten.
The wrestling stigma is worse than pornography, once you go down that road people think you're an idiot even though your intelligence might transcend theirs a great deal.
That said, I believe that a director like Branagh won't sign on unless he wants to make this movie. If he wants to make it, it won't be because he wants to do a B action flick. It'll be because he sees very resonant and fascinating themes in the story and characters.
I agree with you here, but we can't lie to ourselves.
MARVEL is recruiting grade A talent (Branagh, Norton, Downey) and inevitably reducing their gifts to please the masses.
These guys haven't been able to take these characters to the level they could because the studio isn't willing to get that serious with the material.
When I saw
Dark Knight, I was shocked at the idea that I was watching a studio picture. And to make things more out of place - a comic book movie.
I am positive, that Norton and Downey wanted to go the Ledger route with their respective characters but couldn't in order to maintain the tone these movies are evidently displaying.
Don't get me wrong, I really liked
IRON MAN and I liked
The Incredible Hulk despite the implications of it getting the shaft.
But these movies are STILL at heart "summer vehicles".
They are not Oscar caliber pictures.
Of course, if you're going the "expect failure and you will be pleased by mild success" route with the hype here, I understand that choice.
I'm not expecting failure on
THOR, but I AM very concerned with this casting choice.
If they go with a cultured, up and coming actor under 6'5", I am simply not going to be able to buy into it.
I LOVE what Gavin Hood did with Sabretooth by casting Liev Schreiber, but this is a very different case.
For me Thor needs to be larger than life.
When you meet
Kevin, you feel like your standing next to something larger than life.
He knows that too, which is funny cause he never takes advantage of it.
Coolest giant I've come across.
