Yeah, I trust the director with his casting choice. I really can't wait to see what he brings to the character.

On a "the most important thing in the universe" note though, someone suggested an actor a while back that would have been the ultimate and mightiest Thor of all and well sorry, but I just couldn't resist.

Brian Blessed not Odin?
http://www.mania.com/lost-middleman-to-air-comiccon_article_115968.html
At the top of the month we all heard that actor Brian Blessed (Vultan from 'Flash Gordon' - "Diiiiiiiiive!") had been cast in the role of Odin in Marvel's 'Thor' movie. The rumor seemed to have originated from a fan-generated email reporting on an alleged public appearance by the actor where he supposedly revealed he had been cast in the movie.

However, a source for Comics2Film at Mania.com close to the production of the movie told us the rumors are false. Our source didn't get specific with regards to Blessed's purported comments, but when we asked if the rumors are true our guy on the project flatly replied, "no".

well, in that cuase (an I don't really know how this idea might lead with you guys) but, one casting idea I had for Odin (before I thought he was already cast)

what would you think of... David Morse for Odin
(he's alil young then, Blessed, but, at 55, he could still have that look of a old seasoned warrior, plus the guys like 6'4")

just putting it out there

He seems OK... but I don't know why... I always imagined a British actor being Odin. I really hope they cast one for this role.

Morse is missing the potent voice that Odin should have... But as a grizzled warrior in some other vein, he would be great.

I like the idea of David Morse having a role in the movie, especially since I've been multi-tasking, playing Matrix Online (hey, it's gonna end, I want to finish what I started) and watching season 3 of House, which has David Morse as Det. Tritter, never knew the guys name until just now and yet still guessed/thought thats who you were talking about. That's just a sign that it needs to happen.

I wonder if people like Skarsgard, David Morse(not-as-much), Karl Urban, and Jenson Ackles get a kick outta the fact that us fanboys suggest them in every movie.... it's gotta feel good, confidence-boosting...lol

People, please. I'm an avid lifer of Thor for 35 years now and a world wide afficionado on Thor.
The way that thee most perfect choice for Wolverine's character was " Hugh Jackman"
is the way
Vladimir Kultich is thee only true undisputed choice for THOR.
BAR NONE!!!!!
RISE UP ALL YOU VLADIMIR FANS!!!
THE HALLOWEEN GOD

Yea! Rise up, o 54 year old God of Thunder!!!! He's only a few years from where (uncontrollable) farts are the only things he's going to be able to thunder... :hehe:

Seriously though, I'm a fan of his, but he's too old. Simple. Done. Dusted.

So is Blessed not in the film at all, or just not playing Odin? I'm so gutted that it's turned out false :(

If Blessed isn't Odin I still hope he has a part in the film because the guys a legend.

If he is in it - who's to say that Blessed won't end up being Volstagg?

After all, he is highly jovial chap wth a huge beard and even bigger belly etc..................

Speaking of which - Jude Laws been papped recently with a newly buffed and toned bod. I wonder if his friend Kenny has asked him about the possibility of playing Fendral and he's hit the gym to get in shape?

Jude Law as Fandral would be awesome. And he looks kind of badass in Sherlock Holmes, odd as it seems.

Yeah - it would provide some buzz for Marvel - being able to say that Jude Law is in the movie. It would add a marquee name to the film, albeit one who's only going to be in it for a short period of time.

Let's see, Warriors three:-

Fenral = Jude Law
Volstagg - Brian Blessed
Hogun = ?????

I think, so far, that idea is awesome.

Going by the above, would it be likely that Hogun would be played by an actor than Branagh's already worked with? Who fits the bill, given the criteria?

I still think Oded Fehr would make a great Hogun. He's from Israel, though. I'm not sure if that technically counts for the "Asian" look Marvel's supposedly looking for.

Blessed would make a good Volstagg, but they sent out a casting call indicating they want the VOlstagg actor to be in his thirties.

I'm still crossing my fingers that Blessed is Odin.

I wouldn't hate it at all if he were hogun :up:
