The casting news is really moving now. Hopefully we get official Brian Blessed news and Warriors Three casting soon.

So now that's 2 Roles that have been casted that we have no idead who they are playing...... Hmmm Curious..... Very Curious....

So Nat Portman is the only "name" casting so far? Interesting.

Yeah, it's weird when I've seen some mainstream sites reporting on Thor as "The Marvel Comics film starring Natalie Portman." :oldrazz:

I still think that guy from Chronicles of Riddick is gonna be Ymir. I'm certain of it, mark my words people and if I'm right you will all have to worship me as a Norse God!!! :thor:

BTW bad ass avvy Corp

The more I think about it, the more I come to the conclusion Brian Blessed would be perfect for Volstagg. If the rumors about him being involved in the film are true, I actually hope this is the role he's playing.

Volstagg? Odin don't you mean.

Gleeson would be PERFECT for Volstagg.

No, Volstagg.

Stellan Skarsgard to me is a better fit for Odin, in how he's portrayed as a character in Marvel Comics. Sure, some artists drew him on the tubby side, but he was still an intense, powerful, at times world-weary figure, a kind of role I think Stellan is ideally suited to capture.

Brian Blessed, meanwhile, is a wonderful character, but in recent years has become known more for that over-the-top persona than his serious acting. He's a big, fat, jolly luvvie, with the ideal amount of booming bluster to perfectly inhabit a character like Volstagg and turn him into a scene-stealer. Next time you read a Thor comic, imagine Volstagg's lines proclaimed in Blessed's voice: it's PERFECT.

only time will tell what role skarsard got, same with that other older guy blanking on his name, and if who we think got odin is odin or not.

You speak a lot of sense here; so much so that you've changed my mind on the whole issue - Stellan Skarsgard would be a better fit as Odin, now that I've given it some serious thought.

As would Blessed as Volstagg.

I don't like this new trend of actors' casting being confirmed but their characters not being revealed. :argh:

I've read he plays a human... A doctor actually.:o

I'm really getting frustrated!
With Stellan Skarsgard already cast and if the fan speculations are true that he may play Odin, it would be even more of a shame that his real-life son Alexander Skarsgard wasn't cast as his son Thor! He seemed so obvious of a choice for me even before his father's casting (especially after seeing him as a viking warrior in flashback on True Blood) Heck, he supposedly even shares the same management as Branagh. What gives, Marvel?
Don't get me wrong, I like Chris Hemsworth a lot (he seems to be a quality actor in his own right) but I feel that he would be much better suited to play The First Avenger. (despite his being an Aussie rather than American) I'll still support him in the role, I just think Marvel might have dropped the ball by not giving the part of the Odinson to Skarsgard instead.
Perhaps this might be a ploy by the studio to keep us confused and guessing? (Doubt it though)
*SIGH!* In a "perfect" universe....:whatever:

^ I wondered that as well when I had first read it. We obviously have no idea if the source SWAT got it from has any merit or not, though.

Thor - Official Casting Call

[MARCY LEWIS]

(20) Is a college student. Aloof, jaded beyond her years, she thought her internship with scientist Kate Spelling would be an easy 6 college credits. However, she's been stuck for months in this small New Mexico town and relegated to a wide range of unglamorous activities. Kate has been particularly hard on Marcy, making it her personal project to see that Marcy lives up to her potential. Marcy deals with her situation both by using subtle irony and by being an overt wiseass.

I'm guessing this won't be the biggest of roles, probably just a friend for Natalie Portman's Jane Foster

EDIT: Here's another new casting call, this one was from yesterday (the Mercy one was from today)
[WARRIORS] A fearless warrior race, where size, strength and ferocity define a member's rank in both the social and military hierarchy. Warriors born in this society face the harshest ecological conditions imaginable and thrive in environments where lesser creatures, including humans, quickly perishes. Theirs is a world created to cull weakness from the universe to ensure their supreme sovereignty spreads across the stars. MUST BE 6'2 OR TALLER sptv050769, NO BODYBUILDER TYPES. SAG ROLE BUT NO LINES. MUST BE COMFORTABLE WEARING PROSTHETICS.

Why no bodybuilder types for the warriors, I wonder? Maybe they don't want to risk random warriors being more muscley than Hemsworth's Thor.

I think it's because they want NATURALLY strong looking guys. Not overly ripped guys, you know?
