Let's compare:

Huh? Nothing in production? It looks EXACTLY like a modern, albeit beat-up, Freightliner Argosy.

Now I'm not sure how you choose to define exact, but this can't honestly fall under that heading.

If you remove the Autobot symbol, it still looks like a truck to the untrained truck unconnoisseur.

so i will do a test today....i will drive home(Jacksonville Florida to Daytona via I95) and I will count the long nosed trucks to the flat nose and I will give a fair and accurate count....and we shall see which truch is more prevalent

Do that. If one of 'em transforms into a big ass robot, take a pic.

yeah but a truck from one of those crappy futures like Blade Runner or Aliens

i think I'll be too busy getting the F*** over and taking a nap because i've been on the road too long if i saw that

yeah, it does have a bit of a futuristic vibe to it, not that there's anything wrong with that.

My CELL PHONE has a futuristic vibe, so why not a big nose truck?

That's not the point. If they wanted to base the movie in the near future, then they could take all the liberties they wanted with the vehicles. They have chosen to make it based an actual vehicles in existence now. That animated truck, while sharing similarities such as windows, tires, and a flat nose, looks nothing like a production vehicle of any kind. It looks like a Mad Max style rig.

so it's not ok to change his alt mode into a long nose truck but it is ok to give his alt mode a futuristic vibe(thats a very good way to blend in)

Remove the fuel-tank cover and the top wind spoiler... it's the SAME truck. Fine... a modded and somewhat not-2007 version of it (the above is modern).

if I saw that thing on the highway I would be asking myself what the hell it is?????

oh boy. okay, hang on, I'll photoshop the glaring differences for you I guess.

besides peterbilts are really excellent looking trucks, and a very suiting alt.mode for a transformer. i think it's perfect for prime, i'm not a big fan of the flames (i don't hate em), but the truck mode in itself is fine.

But that's not the truck from the actual movie, that's a truck from a fanmade flicko.

I don't get it.... now flatnoses are wrong because they're so old that they look futuristic???

In any case, I think you guys are letting the colors and mods or whatever details color (pun intended) your opinion. On the road these trucks are boring as dirt.... just the other day I was looking at a flatnose plain brown UPS truck in the middle of the city when I realized "holy sh* that's Optimus Prime."

All I know, is the truck in the movie is 1) not seen on the road.. 2) not Optimus Prime. It might be "cool" and badass or whatever... but that doesn't change the fact.

Don't bother. I have eyes.

Modern trucks don't even have those chimneys anymore.

I've never seen Hulk Hogan's custom painted long-nose truck on the highway, no.

now who is the one "letting the colors and mods or whatever details color (pun intended) your opinion."

I'm not a truck connoisseur so I don't give a **** if they're futuristic or vintagistic, all I want is to see em transform and roll out.

well look at it this way, it's not like they changed primes alt mode into a harley davidson motarcycle with ultimate warrior painted on the sides.
