Eh, it's a big deal on the face of it... but I have no doubts it happens far more often than is generally acknowledged. These guys are using PEDs up to a point where they have a reasonable certainty of it not being detectable in their system.

That goes for all sports.

In the words of Chuck Liddell, Overeem got caught. They never do drug tests at press conferences, so they really caught him off guard.

one advantage he does have and i has nothing to do with skill

he will push forward and be aggressive

rashad and rampage were in a defensive shell for like 3 rounds

alot of guys just stare at jones and watch what he is gonna hit them with

hendo wont be awe struck he will get in jones face

True that. And pretty soon, if Jones beats Hendo, every fight he has at 205 will be like the ones Anderson has at 185. Guys waiting for Jones to make the first move and play into his fight.

A guy like Jones, you have to be aggressive as hell. If he gets his distance set, the fight is pretty much over.

Hopefully Hendo is working on his TDD. But I believe Jones can get anyone down at 205. The guy is just powerful with his takedowns.

He missed a test before the Lesnar fight and part of the deal of getting a license then was that he agreed to be subjected to two random tests. His guard should have been up.

The easy way out of it was to not take roids in the first place. After "missing" that test he should have just given it up and used legal supplements. As a matter of fact he should have just stopped using once he knew he was going to fight in the U.S. where roids are illegal. If he wanted to roid up while in K-1 it makes sense, but knowing that he was to fight in Strikeforce again back in 2010 he should have just given up the stuff. Easier said than done, I know, but he's got no one to blame but himself.

I don't even know why Overeem is still trying to get bigger. He's already at the limit of 265. He just ruined his image and he's going to blame it on medicine? Yeah, right. I don't know what the UFC is going to do with him now.

Don't take my post as me defending him, as I'm far from willing to do that. I merely meant that he should have had his guard up since he specifically agreed to do surprise testing two times before the next time he would fight.

He got exposed as a cheater and I don't have much tolerance from that. Especially not since he tried to drive away when he heard that there would be testing after the press conference.

Sonnen vs Silva has been moved to UFC 148. Boosh!

That's some ole ********! The UN should know better than to mess with a Spider jacking into the Matrix in front of 80,000.:cmad:

So, Overeem tried to skip out on the random drug test. Sure, honest mistake. :D

Hector Lombard(31-2) Officially Signs With UFC
hector-lombard-11.jpg

Longtime Bellator champion Hector Lombard (31-2-1 MMA, 8-0 BFC) has officially signed with the UFC.

The 185-pound standout today announced the news via Twitter.

UFC president Dana White had expressed interest in the Cuban-Australian fighter, who recently fulfilled the terms of his Bellator contract after an 8-0 stint in the organization that's part of an overall 24-0-1 run in his past 25 outings.

Lombard didn't disclosed a debut date or opponent, and UFC officials haven't formally announced his signing. However, Bellator was in a matching period with the fighter, and according to MMAFighting.com, Bellator CEO and Chairman declined to match a lucrative UFC deal that includes pay-per-view bonuses for Lombard. (Only the UFC's top talent gets such PPV deals.)

With Lombard vacating the title, Rebney recently told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) No. 1 contender Alexander Shlemenko will fight the winner of the current season-six middleweight tournament for the belt.

The UFC nearly brought the 34-year-old Lombard into the fold in 2007, but visa issues halted the possible debut at UFC 78. He's since fought primarily for Bellator and regional promotions in Australia. With Bellator, he he won a season-one tournament, made one title defense, and also won four non-title fights after winning the belt.

While losing a top fighter such as Lombard is a hit for Bellator, the organization's business model doesn't allow it to truly capitalize on big-name talent. Instead, the tournament format and newly di such as Lombardinexpensive) regional and international talent are the star attractions.

Additionally, Bellator has struggled to find quality competition for highly ranked fights such as Lombard, and with the organization's move from the little-watched MTV2 to the bigger Spike TV delayed until 2013, most of their plans are geared toward the future, not the present.

ALISTAIR OVEREEM DENIED CONTINUANCE, CONDITIONAL LICENSE BY NEVADA ATHLETIC COMMISSION
The Nevada Athletic Commission voted Tuesday to deny UFC heavyweight star Alistair Overeem’s request for a continuance to present his case, as well as a subsequent request for a conditional fight license.

Overeem will now be prohibited from applying for a license in Nevada for nine months, post-dated from March 27, meaning that Overeem may not apply again until Dec. 27.

Quality I've seen a handful of his fights & he looks like a beast in the cage, the UFC though will be a massive jump in competition particularly near the top of the 185 division.

Good, I'd strip him of that win over Lesnar as well while there at it, there was a problem with his drug test for that as well & he couldn't provide a sample when they asked him for one, instead he skipped the country & had good only knows whos piss tested in some lab in Holland to gain a temp license.

I don't think they will be able to change the Brock decision because he did not fail the post-fight test.

But yeah, it is pretty obvious he was avoid the test until he was off his cycle.

I'm glad we'll finally see how good Lombard is. He's always looked impressive, but you just can't tell because of the low level of comp he fought. I'd say give him the ultimate gatekeeper in Leben, but he's still suspended. Stann wouldn't be a bad match at all. I say either Stann or Munoz.

Overeem was tested pre-Lesnar fight and he passed but he was only granted a conditional license. He was told he could be randomly tested again before he gets licensed for his next fight.

Lombard is finally in the UFC!!!!!!!!

Hector has been crushing cans for awhile, but the guy is a f**king bloodthirsty pitbull with explosive Judo takedowns, a granite chin (yet to even be rocked once in his career) and nasty haymakers.

His first fight will be a crucial one. If he destroys a guy like Stann or Munoz, Lombard could very well get a title shot.

This is Lombard's chance now. Let's see if he can really prove he's top level.

This is the big stage now. He's not going to get any gimmes anymore.

i think they should give him brian stann since he always comes to fight and all the other top MW are locked up

Brian Stann/Hector Lombard would be an excellent first fight for him, you'd get to see what sort of level hes at pretty instantly. Also a win for either & you could near enough make a case for a title shot.

I suppose it doesn't matter a great deal seeing as Lesnar's packed in MMA but if he had beat a guy still competing & in contention for a title shot I'd pursue getting the decision turned into a no contest.

It's pretty clear that there is/was something very fishy with the circumstances surrounding him getting the temporary license to fight Lesnar & considering his failure of the following test I think he knew fine rightly that he'd have failed a drug test if he submitted it when they asked for it.

Stann seems quite likely. Its a great match up, in my opinion. Both Hector and Stann love to stand-and-bang.

Either way, I see Lombard taking the decision victory, unless Hector's blitz proves to be too much in the first round.

Definitely. Hector has fought one-dimensionally for a good minute thanks to the competition he faced at Bellator. I'm hoping he hasn't forgotten to practice his Judo throws/sweeps and BJJ. Lombard hasn't put those skills to use in his recent bouts.

It's great to see Hector in the UFC so he can get some high level competition. Both because it's interesting to see what he can do, plus that him fighting lower level competition rhymes badly with how he has a big reputation for being a real bully in the gym.
