GRAPHIC WATCH AT OWN RISK

Miesha Tate has some massive stones on her.

Hopefully Rousey works on her striking more. Besides that, she's a beast.

Thiago Alves has to be the dumbest fighter since Joe Riggs. He's going to be nothing but a gate-keeper, at this point in his career.

Any news on when McCall/Johnson are fighting again?

I heard a rematch might be planned for UFC 145, not sure though.

Has anyone taken Judo classes before? Not Brazilian Jiu Jitsu just Judo. I'm assuming that striking, if at all, is limited?

Josh Barnett has a chance to be Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion? Has hell frozen over?

Nope. The Strikeforce Heavyweight division is being absorbed by the UFC. If he wins the GP, he might have a chance to become UFC Heavyweight Champion again.

Doesn't Josh Barnett have issues with Dana White?

Striking is extremely limited in Judo. In my six years as a Judoka (at a local Dojo and YMCA & Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu), strikes were rarely presented to me. The instructors typically don't teach strikes simply because strikes are illegal in competition, BUT strikes are found in katas.

We usually spend most of our time with warm-up and transition drills, Nage-waza (throws), Katame-waza (grappling and submissions), and Randori (sparring).

to be honest i feel bad for Tate because lets put this in perspective :

- Ronda talked trash in the build up
- Ronda pushed Tate at weigh ins
- Ronda outgrappled Tate - which is Meisha's Strong-point
- Got Judo thrown like 3x - she claimed wrestling trumps Judo
- Got Subbed 1st time in mma career
- Got her arm broken
- Tate lost her title
- Gets trash talked after fight with Ronda saying she did'nt feel bad for breaking it

not good to be Tate at the moment LOL

Why should she feel bad for breaking it? Tate wasn't tapping and Rhonda had to keep on it. I mean, that's the name of the game. You don't tap in a submission move like that and you just might get a serious injury. Tate refused to tap literally until her elbow bent the wrong direction.

I've never taken a Judo class myself however I've seen several of them when I'm at the gym it just so happens to overlook the hall room were there are some Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, "Boxing" (pad work) classes as well as a handful of others & from what I can understand, the Ju-Jitsu & Judo instructers don't focus on striking at all. I believe I've seen them teach some strikes here & there, however it would be things that would be pretty basic or limited as you say. Both are after all grappling/submission based disciplines.

I imagine the strikes are only taught for the people doing those type of classes for self defence because as far as I am aware in competition strikes aren't allowed at all for Judo or Jiu-Jitsu.

i think down the line we need to see Ronda Rousey vs Sara McMann

Both Olympic medalist's Ronda in Judo & Sara in Wrestling

both 5-0 but Ronda is a bit younger

because i am of the opinion that good wrestling cant beat elite judo

ronda/tate fight proved this

and shields/akiyama also proved this

Even though they're both 5-0, McMann is still really green in the sport. She's basically Koscheck from when he was on The Ultimate Fighter: A wrestler with nothing else. She needs time to develop other aspects of her game. At this point, it probably wouldn't be much of a contest. Ronda would submit her fairly easily. If I remember correctly, Akano had McMann in some tough spots during their fight, and her judo isn't nearly as accomplished as Ronda's is.

Edit: I misread you initially. I see you did say it shouldn't be until down the road a bit.

Edgar/Bendo II is happening now. Boo!

People say what next for Edgar if he loses to Aldo, well what if he loses this one?

Wow, that's the third straight rematch for Edgar. At some point, you need to just let the judges' decision stand and move on, for the good of the division.

Good stuff, Edgar/Bendo was quite a close fight.. I think I had the fight just slightly in Henderson's favour because I felt even though it looked like Edgar caught alot of his kicks he'd actually already taken the hit & had grabbed onto it before Henderson could bring his leg back home.. he did probably catch around 30-40% of them though without taking a really hard blow.

However at the same time I think Henderson did just about outland Edgar however Edgar took Henderson down 3 or 4 times albeit briefly, it was a very close fight though I think I had it 3-2 Henderson from what I recall. Looking forward to seeing a rematch.

It really would have been quite unfair if they didn't give Edgar a rematch considering the fact that they made him do 2 instant rematches with BJ & Maynard.

I loved the fight, and I'm sure it'll be exciting again. I just want to see Frankie fight someone else for a change. I understand why he wanted the rematch, but man Dana should have given him a can and an easy title shot in the name of variation. At least with Bendo/Pettis 2 we haven't seen that in a while, but alas it's not such a bad consolation. It's just that we really don't need to see constant rematches for the title in a division that's very deep.

Dana basically said that the winner of Miller/Diaz is getting the next shot, so Anthony Pettis once again goes from being basically promised a title shot, to having to fight again to earn it. Hopefully he doesn't get Guida'd a second time.

He was never really promised a shot.

But what are you going to do when your former #1 champion who had two back to back rematches whines and cries to Ariel Helwani about it when he could've gotten a free featherweight title shot?

Well, he wasn't promised a shot, but Dana did basically say the shot would go to Pettis at the UFC 144 post-fight presser. Nothing official, but it definitely got Pettis' hopes up... again. Such is the nature of the sport though.

If Pettis feels he is the best he should have no problem continuing to prove himself.

He arguably didn't deserve the lightweight title shot fresh off the WEC run either as the Guida fight proved. He's still got work to do and parts of his game to improve.

Bendo actually earned his shot.
