Anderson Silva is a legend beater and he is also a force of nature. He submitted Hendo who is still one of the top fighters in the world to this day and is a living legend.
yup and while we compare them

hendo KO'd Fedor who was a HW and dan was still basically a LHW

while anderson subbed hendo

MMAth = w1n :D .

Yeah so I mean there you go. Not like Silva hasn't beaten SONS OF WAR.

Sons of War? Where is this nickname for Franklin coming from? He should use it against Cung Le. Lol

Actually, during the Pride days Fedor, Nogueira and Cro Cop were nick-named the Sons of War in Japan. That's where the Sons of War thing came from in the discussion.

I've interviewed these fighters a lot. For them it's not easy to do. More than just fighting but the thrill of winning to them is a drug and an addiction. When they win all they want is to win again to get that feeling back.

Even a career journeyman like Chris Lytle was making bank at the end of his UFC run and he finished his UFC run on a high run and won like his last 5 out of 6. Wouldn't surprise me if he tried to make a comeback run at some point if he doesn't get elected to public office.

Yeah, other than money, it's also about the thrill of the fight and victory. No fighter ever truly wants to stop or retire indefinitely. A break here and there labeled as 'retirement' is a more likely scenario played out in their heads or think they retirement is something they want... until they miss the little things.

I don't think I'd ever want to stop myself either (if I were a professional fighter). Being a fighter/warrior is apart of their identity.

Since Brock went back to wrestling I'll go ahead and get the flames started.

Brock>Mir>Nog>Hendo...Fedor

Dun dun dunnnnnnnn!!!

FACT.

:D

Nah really though, just heard that he was at Wrestlemania or Raw & I'm kinda disappointed to see him go back.

I assumed he was retiring from MMA due to his stomach problems.. I mean getting knee'd & kicked hard in his mid-section wouldn't do his life longevity any favours I'm sure, however if hes gonna go back & start wrestling every week & getting dropped on his back multiple times per night then I don't understand his logic.

I don't follow wrestling at all so correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't The Rock go back now & again just to more or less hype up 1 matchup between himself & John Cena? What I mean is even though hes been there he hasn't been actually wrestling actively? I can only surmise that Brock would have been given some similar terms to get him interested again because didn't he talk some wicked **** about working in professional wrestling full-time during UFC interviews..? Then again, money changes things & I'm sure hes getting millions for going back.

Well Brock's schedule is supposed to be ultra light. Even though he is signed for a year he's only supposed to show up a couple of times a month. I doubt he'll be as athletic as he used to be. The dude used to do some crazy stuff in the ring when he debuted. I think the diverticulitis would probably still be an issue.

And yeah, the Rock came back basically for one more match. He'll probably do two more matches between this year and Wrestlemania next year. I bet Vince paid out the ass to get Brock back. They have had problems building new stars for years, and their top guy, Cena, gets booed a lot. I'm pretty sure Vince got in the Brock Lesnar Kiss My Ass club.

I can't imagine Brock went back for buttons, I read that when the WWE got Mayweather to do some sort of show for them they paid him like $20m.. I imagine they are paying The Rock & Brock Lesnar something crazy like that given that both are massive PPV draws.. even moreso now given their career success outside WWE.

As far as MMA goes Lesnar is in many ways a missed opportunity & has a massive what if cloud hanging over his head.

If MMA had been a little more mainstream when he was coming out of collage around 2000 & he'd chosen to go down the MMA route rather than the WWE route he could have been a real force in MMA. He came into the MMA game very late & managed to beat a handful of respectable guys & win a title when the division was just getting re-established with very little MMA training whatsoever.

In some respects if he'd come into MMA at 20-23 off the back off collage, he could very well have been along the lines of what Jon Jones currently is to the LHW division.

I would have loved to see Kurt Angle and Shelton Benjamin in MMA. Shelton is about as gifted athletically as Kevin Randleman, and I'm thinking he would have been smart enough to put it all together. Kurt would have been great because he's Kurt ****ing Angle. Oh it's true. It's true.

Oh, it's damn true!

I heard Angle manhandled Lesnar a couple years back in a friendly freestyle wrestling match backstage. I, for one, believe it. Kurt was that gifted in Greco-Roman Wrestling.

Unfortunately, the closest we'll ever see Angle in MMA bout is in the film 'Warrior' (which is perhaps the greatest fighting movie ever made).

Nothing unfortunate about it. Angle's old and injury prone and he frankly should probably be retired from wrestling as well or at the very least only working part-time.

Not surprised he's already "injured" from competing in the Olympics. Doubt he'd have passed the physicals and drug tests anyway.

Angle would end up like Lashley. IT'S TRUE IT'S TRUE.

No denying that, but he could've had a decent career in MMA if he chosen to fight professionally instead of choosing a Pro-Wrestling career.

Possible, but think about this. He went over to pro-wrestling in the late 1990's. MMA wasn't thriving as an industry in the US or really all over the world like it is now. The scene was burgeoning in Japan due to Pride but that's about it. When ZUFFA bought UFC, it was practically dead.

Overeem failed a drug test. NO! Likely he is out of UFC 146.

Dammit! I really wanted to see that fight. It would be nice to see two top strikers going at it.

And just like that... Overeem's career is irrelevant to me. K-1 title, Dream title, Strikeforce title, Pride wins, ADCC trials, win over Lesnar, etc are forever tainted.

Back to 0-0 with me.

So with the pathetic Overoid out, who takes his place?

Velasquez? Mir? Silva?

Not surprised.

It should be Mir. Velasquez just fought and lost to JDS. Mir's on a 3 fight streak and is the most winning UFC heavyweight ever. Easy fight to make.

Better this happens now than just a couple weeks before. Easy to shuffle this card and change it to Mir.

Eh Mir has appeared too cautious and stagnant as of late. Frank was hesitant to pull the trigger with Cro Cop and sluggish against Nelson. I don't know. Dos Santos-Mir doesn't excite me at all.

*sighs*

It's getting harder and harder to stay a combat sport fan. If GSP, Silva and/or Fedor were to ever test positive, I'd be done with the sport.

Doesn't matter man. Mir is a former champion. He's won his last three fights. He submitted Nog in a great rematch. Sometimes you just have to make the best fight that you can and this is it.

Mir is the most winning UFC heavyweight ever and he's a former champ. That counts for something. His fight with Cain was a title eliminator anyway. It's a reasonable match-up to make.

Why are you so sad Doomsday? Was Overeem one of your heroes and did you believe it really was horse meat?

You can mock all you want but we live in a society where it must be 'innocent until proven guilty'. If I were to accuse a few names out there, I would have to suspect everyone. In that sense, what's the point in watching these fights if I suspect everyone is juicing?

It's not about Overeem being a hero, it's about Overeem being apart of a highly-anticipated bout that now will cease to exist.

That's on Overeem man.

And just remember this is not just MMA. It's been prevalent throughout all professional sports.

This is why Mark McGuire broke the home run record.

I'd have no problem with Mir/JDS as a replacement bout. Still a fight between two world champs. Mir at least has won the UFC title unlike Overeem. Overeem has also lost to pretty much everybody in MMA.
