What do people want from Jones, go around saying he's gonna lose each fight? Talk gangsta so he be keepin it real, would that get more respect? I don't get the hate for this guy other than he's the new guy and he's been beating everyone's passed heroes.

It trips me out that people go to great lengths to talk more about anything Jon Jones does besides the fighting. Here we have someone who might be the best young fighter in MMA history destroying elite guys without much of a struggle, and what is it that people want to talk about? "OMG he's so cocky! He's so arrogant! His haircut is not the right fade! Arghhhhhh!!!!!!!"

The picture perfect scenario for showing how ******** people are about Bones is the Machida finish. People really got upset because he just let Machida fall to the ground instead of gently laying him down, but what did these people do when Machida knocked out Rashad?

"Hahahaha! Rashad sucks! Shad Face! I'm going to post this pic every time Rashad's name is spoken! Hey let's get Machida to autograph it! Tee hee!" Nobody complained that Machida was celebrating instead of tending to Rashad. Nobody brought up that ******** at all.

When Jon Jones put Machida to sleep it wasn't about how Jones once again finished another top fighter in impressive fashion. People wanted to talk about all kinds of other **** besides the fight...except when Machida tagged Jones hard. We can talk about that **** all day, but don't you dare bring up Jones actually winning the fight.

I'd be fine with Jones if the UFC wasn't marketing his 'personality' so much. It irritates me to hear him talk. He sounds like a gargantuan tool, in my opinion. Now, that doesn't take anything away from his fighting ability and accolades, but I soooooo don't want to hear him spew more a paragraph within a month's span. I can only intake so much bulls**t.

At least with Rampage and Rashad, you knew what you were getting. They didn't hide it or deny it.

I have Evans winning by KO this weekend. I know, probably not going to happen, but one can still have faith!

But you really don't have to hear him talk. It's not like Nick Diaz where his ******* nature is present when he's fighting. With Jones you just avoid the interviews. Even then I really don't get how he rubs people the wrong way. He comes across as a goofy nerd to me.

I don't get why people dislike Jones. He always gets the job done.

You know who I think is fake? Rashad Evans. Look at all the trash he talked about Rampage Jackson and how he was going to knock him out instead he had that garbage fight where he just barely won by laying and praying on Rampage and almost got knocked out in the third round.

Jon Jones has been running through higher caliber opponents as of late than Rashad Evans. The kid is a phenom.

I'm sorry but making statements like these don't exactly make him a likable fellow:

“This might sound different, It actually feels like I’m helping people as I punch them in the face. I’m beating weakness out of them, I’m making them a better person. In my opinion its the highest art of expression and that’s what honestly expressing yourself is.

I don’t look at it as if I’m hurting my opponent, my enemy, its really like we are brothers and were painting this picture together.”

Please, if that isn't pompous and immensely egotistical, then I don't know what is...

Don't get me wrong, he ain't no Diaz brother, and he did came across as a goofy nerd (back before Bader fight) but he's not the same dude he was a couple years back.

I mean really, you refuse to sign a fake title for your fan simply because your ego gets in the way? What kind of a**hole are you?

jones is just plain arrogant outright saying stuff like rashad has a weak chin

or shogun has overrated bjj

and even saying he was the ufc lhw champ before he even fought shogun

You just gotta understand the way he thinks. Here is a recording of Greg Jackson and Jon Jones right after training.

Shogun's BJJ and attack off his back has never been that good. I think he only has one or two submission wins.

So what if he's got an ego? Most professional athletes do. Are you guys going to tell me Michael Jordan didn't have an ego? Kobe Bryant doesn't? Shaq?

You guys say arrogant and yet he's the light heavyweight champ since Chuck Liddell to defend his title more than once.

Someone name me one fighter, just ONE who had a better calendar year than this:

1. Ryan Bader
2. Shogun - WON TITLE
3. Rampage -DEFENDED TITLE
4. Machida - DEFENDED TITLE

Beat a top 10 guy in Bader to get a title shot. Then beat 3 UFC champions. All in the same year. I don't know a single fighter that has had a year that impressive ever. Jon Jones was fighter of 2011 for a reason.

my problem is'nt that he is cocky and arrogant

my problem is he is cocky and arrogant and act likes he is'nt

that is what we call FAKE

It was nice seeing Rashad and Jon Jones on NBA on TNT last night. It was the usual fun segment from those guys, and one thing I really loved is that you had two black men who are well spoken representing MMA to a potential new audience. You could see Shaq and Barkley's enthusiasm too. Rashad calling out some combos for Shaq was hilarious!

The reason I dislike him is because he admitted he was a snitch in high school. Plus, his whole attitude about not staring at his opponents. The only reason he does that is to disrespect them, he may give some BS reason, but that is why. Like, "You're not worthy." That's why he finally gave Rampage a proper stare down was because Rampage was talking all that trash.

Yeah, he's running through the LHW division, and I don't see anyone beating him anytime soon, but I just dislike him. As a fighter, starting on his hands and knees, if someone did that to me, I don't care, I'd run and soccer kick the hell out of them. If I get DQ'd, I wouldn't care, got to blame the guy for coming out like a doufus.

And as a person, I can't stand him, he just annoys me.

WAR EVANS!

So what?

You know who did the same thing CrypticOne? Takanori Gomi. Before a fight started when it was time to touch gloves he refused to look in his opponent's eyes.

I could care less if he looks at them or not during the weigh ins. It's a ****ing fist fight. This isn't ****ing Ring of Honor. To me it makes the fighters or the fight more interesting when stuff like that happens.

What I find worse is Anderson Silva's behavior. CrypticOne, if you dislike Jon Jones, then you should HATE Anderson Silva for his behavior in the cage.

Jones is the man. Deal w/it people. I still think Rashad can give him trouble because of his wrestling. Jones will find a way to finish him tho.

Props to Eddie Alvarez

I think that's the right call, glad UFC stopped dilly dallying while there was still time.

I think they should've just made it Mir a couple weeks ago when this whole mess first started.

I wonder what happens to Overeem right now.

I'm not going to derail this thread, or come off like the angry black guy, but check my sig, saying that isn't really complimentary. It really means that you feel two black men aren't customarily known to be educated or able to articulate. Athlete, entertainer or otherwise, I think that's kind of a broad stroke, whether your black yourself or not. If you are, that potentially makes that statement even worse.

But as far as Jones goes, I kind of like that there's a growing sentiment towards him. Whether people have a vested interest of seeing someone lose or seeing them win, it does nothing but help with revenue and media attention. And besides, nobody in their right mind will be able to take anything away from him if he keeps winning in dominating fashion.

I think Evans will be Jones's toughest fight to date, hes got good head movement, decent striking, excellent wrestling & is very explosive.

So far Jones has only fought guys that want to strike with him, Evans will want to strike, dirty box, wrestle & ground & pound.. Machida's speed was giving Jones some problems & Evans is just as fast, he also looks like he would hit harder.

Jones is a phenom though thus far, superb reach & has been striking with 3 of the divisions best strikers, we'll had to see how he does against one of the divisions more well rounded fighters.

I'm gonna go against the flow & I'm gonna take Evans to win via decision. I think he'll grind out a win by smothering Jones & out working him.. similar to what we saw against Phil Davis. It's a very interesting fight though as both guys are so well rounded. If theres a takedown in the match, it could be decisive for whoever gets it & neither guy has really been on his back for extended periods of time.. Jones I think has only been on his back briefly in his MMA career ie less than 30 seconds.

There are plenty of replacements for Cain. Bigfoot Silva or Fabricio Werdum.

I see it being a closer fight than expected that Jones will edge out by decision.

I think the fight is closer than oddsmakers will give credit for. Evans is still a former champ with really good boxing, punching power, and footwork. And he's got a strong wrestling base.

I'm accustomed to articulate black men. After all I am one myself. *poses for 5 seconds*

What my comment meant was that sports media are so quick to put a microphone in a black man's face when they are saying something stupid, but when they're well spoken they shy away from it. With Jones and Rashad they just let them speak instead of trying to get them to act as clowns.

My picks are:

Rashad by decision
Rory Mac by 2nd round TKO
Schaub by decision
Torres by decision
Hominick by 1st round KO

Touché! I just wasn't sure where you were going with that, but I definitely agree with your meaning behind it.
