I've found that ppvs are easier to deal with financially when I split it with my brother and a few friends. We buy it in HD and split the cost between us and pizza, so in the end we end up spending $10-15 depending on how many people show up and pitch in. The only downside is that they are more into specific fighters. If it's an Anderson Silva ppv they're like, "Shut up and take my money now!" Next week I've been convincing them that the card is super stacked, and they like some of the names, but it's not so automatic. Buffalo Wild Wings does show it, and I end up only spending about $13 on my meal. Since I don't drink my bar bill is much lower. lol

One alternative might be ordering on XBox Live. The GSP/Condit card was only $35 in HD because they had a special going on for that card in particular. I imagine that they'll be doing more stuff like that in the future. It went off without any problems except right before the main event. The show looked excellent, but then when they were doing the promos for GSP/Condit it froze. We were panicking like crazy, but the good thing is we only missed Goldie saying the same **** he always does. :hehe:
 
Rampage needs to retire. I think he has peaked. I think if he stays he risks further damage and getting hurt more and further longterm damage later in his life.

I mean he could have a career rebirth. He used to be so naturally talented and he was strong, but now that he is older and not training as hard all that has caught up with him.

Rampage trained in England with Wolf's Lair and focused too much on his boxing. Big mistake. The training in England is not as good.

I honestly don't know what he was thinking. I know Ibarra was taking too much money but Rampage was the most feared LHW on the planet under his wing. Jackson gave UFC fanboys a shock when Jhe TKOed Liddell. Nowadays, he's losing fights that he would win.

That's the main thing that makes made me sad seeing him lose on Saturday, because Rampage is a better fighter than Glover Teixeira. I don't think it's old age either, I think it's all down to his training regime & whether or not his head is in the fight or not.

The bottom line for him is he either needs to rediscover his passion for fighting, suck it up, train hard as well as broadly ie TDD, kicks etc & get some finishes in his next few fights.. otherwise he should just retire because I don't want to see him stick around the way Chuck did & start getting knocked out or submitted by guys he should never be getting beat by in the first place.

The last time I saw the real Rampage was the Wanderlei KO, that's the Rampage I know.

Not to take away from his performances against Lyoto or Rashad because I thought he looked alright against Lyoto considering he's such a pain in the ass style striker & against Rashad, while he did look abit ring rusty, he showed great TDD & was unlucky not to finish him in the 3rd after he hurt him.

If Rampage was the better fighter he would have won. Let's not get carried away here. Rampage has always been an emotional fighter, and that is why he would still lose most of his losses even if he was with a better camp. When he gets frustrated it shows, and guys would capitalize on it eventually if he didn't get the knock out. The worst thing for Rampage is people filling his head up on his knock out power after that Sports Science segment. After that people were all, "OMG you can't stand with Rampage. He'll knock you out if he hits you once!" While he's definitely has some serious power it's not like the guy has crazy power to put anyone away with one shot. Sure he has the capability of doing it, but it's not some automatic thing like many people have been saying. I'm pretty sure Rampage's entourage has filled his head up with this hype, and training with Wolfslair and their mediocre gameplans has made him the lazy fighter that he has been for a few years.

Rampage needs someone that can keep him level headed enough while training that he creates good habits to overcome his emotional flaws. The problem is that he's got a ton of athletic talent that he could get by on that if he felt he's been worked too hard. Too bad he had the fallout with Ibarra. I don't blame him at all for leaving a guy who you feel is taking money away from you, but the decision to train at Wolfslair was a big mistake.

It's as I've always said. Rampage and B.J. are so similar it's uncanny. Both guys started out with grappling backgrounds. They refined their boxing so that they didn't rely on their grappling alone, and they both have similar boxing styles. Both guys fell in love with their own power and hype, and as time went on got more predictable just looking for big knockout shots instead of gameplanning and forcing the opponent into their game. Both guys surround themselves with yes men and make tons of excuses for their losses. Both loss to a Greg Jackson fighter and accused them of cheating instead of accepting that the other guy was the better man. lol

I think Rampage still has enough left in the tank to beat some scrubs, so I wouldn't mind seeing him go to Bellator. He really needs someone that's going to push his ass though. I can't remember if he left Wolfslair or not, but he needs a tough love type trainer that's not going to let him get away with a lot of things.
 
I think BJ Penn really should've just gone back to lightweight instead of trying to stick with welterweight again. Lightweight is really his weight class. He had a couple good wins at welterweight, but he's just a natural lightweight and always has been. And at lightweight he was dominating everyone except Edgar. I mean maybe some of these newer kids could've beaten him but I would've liked to see Penn in the mix with guys like Donald Cerrone, BJ Penn, etc.

It's already been rendered useless though by Dana White who said he still planned to make the fights that the public wants to see. Meaning fights like GSP/Nick Diaz, Jon Jones/Chael Sonnen, Frankie Edgar/Jose Aldo will all still happen in the future regardless of what the ranking system suggests.

Aldo's speed might be a determining factor for him but still pulling for Edgar.

I usally go for the underdog but I want to see Overeem/Cain. Hope Overeem isn't overconfident, it would be a big setback if he loses.
 
I just don't see how Aldo beats Edgar. If he doesn't finish Edgar in the first two rounds, he'll be exhausted.

Assuming Edgar sticks around to receive them. Frankie showed improvements in the Bendo rematch. So Jose might have to rely on something else to beat Frankie. If Edgar can drag Aldo past the third round, it's over.

Not really. Plus, Aldo is gonna be way quicker than Bendo with dealing his leg kicks out. People are saying Edgar has a speed advantage. Yeah, at lightweight he did. Not here.

Yes, really. Aldo's endurance is questionable, at best. If Jose can't finish Edgar in rounds 1-3, then he's royally screwed. Quote me on it. Let's see how fast Aldo will be in rounds 4 and 5 when he has less than 25% left in the gas tank.

Aldo still wins on points. And he won't be royally screwed. Even if he does gas, the damage to Edgar's legs will already have been done.

Edgar beat Henderson once, if not twice, and booted one of the most talented fighters in the UFC out of the division. He surprised me with how easily he was able to take down Penn. Basically, a 145er taking it to a guy that could fight at 170.
 
I really can't wait to see Edgar and Aldo tonight. Both guys are so damn good that I make it a point not to count either out. Both guys are very skilled technically too, so it's more than likely going to be a good fight in my eyes. I can see Aldo's kicks being the deciding factor here, but Edgar's wrestling could negate that and wear Aldo down. It's such a fun matchup to think about! I have Aldo just because his kicks are so damn quick and devastating, but I can see Edgar winning it as well. This is a really tough one to call.

Also as the resident Rashad fan I gotta say that I'm going with Rashad by decision. Lil Nog is still durable, but I don't think he's good at handling speed. His wrestling is better than people give him credit for, but his problem is that he doesn't do much to wrestling besides to defend. He doesn't really go after anything offensive, and with Rashad's speed I think he'll take it.
 
I can see Rashad even out-striking Lil Nog. I definitely give Rashad a speed advantage and I think he can use that to his benefit to maybe even knock Lil Nog out.
