I could see Peyton Reed going for FF. But I think it's interesting to maybe have Faverau give a go for it. I think the 1st IM is still better than most of the MCU.

I'm not sure Jon Favreau would be right for it. Personally I'd go for Brad Bird.

I hated that story! It was so freakin' unnecessary, not to mention ridiculous. But that describes so much of Byrne's run. (Lyja, Malice, the female Thing, etc.)

Lyja and female Thing came after Byrne left the book. He did create the Malice persona for Sue though. Only used in one issue.

Yeah, Female Thing and Lyja were Englehart's run later. Lyja came back along with Malice after that in DeFalco's run.

For Cosmic characters, Annihilus would be a good starter. He's a big enough bad guy to get his own movie, but not so big to detract from Galactus or someone else more iconic later.

Yeah, I think something like this might have already been filmed. There's no real legal restriction preventing them from filming something like that - the only concern would be that Fox might sue them when the film comes out.

Since this has been in the works for a while, Feige could have briefed the Russos on how he intended to introduce mutants and the FF if/when they got the rights, and they could have penciled some dialogue that would be consistent with that as alternate takes/scenes that could either be used or left on the cutting-room floor depending on the situation during editing.

It may be unlikely that they went to that extent, but there wouldn't be any real legal barriers preventing them from filming some alternate takes.

Yeah maybe, but I don’t know if they will want to risk it. I remember marvel waited til their was an absolute guarantee they could use Spider-Man before flying out the door and interviewing as many high school aged actors as possible. It would be horrible to run into legal trouble this late in the game for whatever reason.

Oh god I hated the Lyja thing. There’s almost something incestuous about Johnny Storm hooking up with the Thing’s girlfriend even if it really wasn’t. Don’t know why.

I remember Bendis said the skrulls think Reed Richards is like their osama bin laden. He terrorfies then on a warrior level. Plus there’s something about that shocked eye just hanging there

I know it wont happen but i want the Avengers 4 post credit scene to be silver surfer watching the avengers defeat thanos from the distance he flies back to some world and reports Thanos defeat to Galactus says something cool like "master its time" (less cringe obviously lol) And like Thanos we we get a quick glimpse of Galactus. Cut to black. Hype level increase over 9000.

That was the biggest problem for me. Even if she was a Skrull, Johnny wouldn't do that, because it would still be Alicia to him. Alicia was not only Ben's girlfriend, but someone who Johnny would have known in an unromantic way - like a sister or aunt - since he was a teenager. So your "incestuous" comment is right on.

I associate it with Byrne because it was around the time he was there, but I don't remember exactly when he left and what happened when.

Yes. It was during the 1st Secret Wars where the main books picked up after right the heroes had returned home, but the event still had over a year of issues to go. So there was fallout in the main books that we had to wait & see how it went down in the Wars themselves. One of them was Ben not returning with the FF and She Hulk taking his place (Black suit Spidey was another).

As Secret Wars unfolded we learned Ben had gained the ability to change back & forth to human at will on Battleworld, and decided to stay there when it was over.

In his absence Byrne did have Johnny hook up with Alicia. I dont know how far he intended to take it as he left around issue 295 or thereabouts, but by issue 300 Roger Stern had them get married.

Don't know who was writing when the Lyja Skrull reveal came along (wasn't reading he books by then. The 90's was a progressively awful decade for comics so I just gave up on them all).

Yeah I was getting a little bored right before Byrne, then he came in and got my attention again, then sometime with the whole spikey Thing and Ms. Marvel Thing, I gave up and only picked up an occasional comic book after that.

When this Marvel Two-In-One came out, I started buying those in anticipation of the FF return, but after the first couple seemed promising, the story from then on has just felt like a random meandering and filler/stalling until the FF come back. It's like every issue just sort of ignores the previous one and starts over... and then doesn't do anything interesting.

I'm hoping it will all work better once we see where it's going, but I'm a little afraid I just got sucked into reading crap because of all the hype of the FF returning.

Tom DeFalco was the writer by then. So blame him I guess.

FWIW, I always liked Lyja's outfit once she was a full-on Skrull warrior. (Maybe a little too much exposed leg looking at it now).

I really like Marvel Two-in-One. I think I enjoy it more because I didn't expect the FF to return in it tbh.
Now I read it as a "how Johnny and Ben deal with the loss of Sue and Reed" book.

Silver Surfer is a safe bet. Besides him the only cosmic characters that are under F4 rights is Galactus and Super Skrull. You can't really have super skrull until the F4 appear, you don't want to show Galactus too soon. I bet Silver Surfer and Galactus will get an easter egg in Guardians 3. They could do a post credits scene with Silver Surfer selecting a world, but I don't think they'd want to hint at Galactus so soon.

I would love for Silver Surfer to come out of nowhere, specifically in the middle of Secret Wars. Heroes & villains are going at it, until BOOM! Silver streak drops in and the audience collectively sh**s a brick.

You can't really have super skrull until the F4 appear, you don't want to show Galactus too soon. I bet Silver Surfer and Galactus will get an easter egg in Guardians 3. This is the tricky thing with SS. If he actually is SS (as opposed to Norrin Radd), he's linked to Galactus. You can't just have him hanging out in a bar having a beer.

I can imagine him being mentioned and maybe even shown briefly in GOTG3 as an omen or harbinger of death, and that would be sort of cool, but I can't quite see how he would be featured with much screen time...

... unless the really want to tackle the whole Galactus thing already and maybe have him eat something.

They could introduce Norrin Radd, pre-surfer, but I'm not a fan of that, because I'd like his first appearance to be the real Silver Surfer, and then I'd like to go back and see who he was before.

Seeing him as NR first will take away some of the mystique of the Surfer.

Somebody, somewhere had pointed out (and I apologize I can't remember who), that if half of Galactus' food supply disappeared in an instant, he would certainly take notice.

It may be too soon, from a logistical point of view, to bring Galactus in, but it would certainly make sense to have the finger-snap - coming from Earth - attract his attention.

They could call back to the snap when they introduce Galactus. Say he was off in a very far away galaxy when it happened, he traced the origin of the source of half his dinner being dusted, and started heading our way munching on some planets on the way. When the snap is/was undone he continued on his path curious to see what power could have done all that.

Reed can be more an an engineer and she could be an alien biologist. They could even say she did freelance work studying the chitauri or even the skrulls

Reed - Physicist, Asto-scientist, robotics/rocket/tech engineer (basically anything scientific that isn't biological)

Sue - Doctor, Astro biologist (I really like the idea). She's the teams medic.

Johnny - Mechanical engineer. He helps Reed bring his inventions to life but mostly works on the vehicles like the Fantasti-car

Ben - Best pilot in the world. He can fly/drive any vehicle Reed creates like he's been doing it all his life

That's how I see their roles playing out on the team professionally. All of them share one trait though and that would be being adventure junkies. They all love going to new places never seen before and meeting new creatures.

Here's where I think they should cameo:

Johnny mentioned or appears in a Spider-Man film - Because of their comic friendship

Ben appears or mentioned in Captain Marvels film - Because of his history of an Air-force pilot like Carol

Sue appears or mentioned in Dr Strange (if she is going to be a doctor/biologist) - Dr Strange used to be a surgeon so he would have heard of her

Reed can appear and be mentioned in almost any film tbh
