Crudup is like 50 and Blunt is 42- so I'm not sure about those two. Sucks, because Crudup was my choice 10 years ago
Lily James, yes. The rest? No thanks. Blake Lively just kind of phones it in for every role and I’ve never been wowed by her acting. It never feels like it’s coming from a real place. Allison Williams was good in Get Out and could be a good Sue but I feel like it doesn’t quite fit Sue.

Vanessa Kirby would be a good actress to play Sue.

I don't get all the doubt about Blake. She is a great actress. Has anybody seen any of her movies post-Gossip Girl? She has matured immensely as an actress. She was critically acclaimed in the 'Age of Adaline', and she carried the Shallows for two thirds of the entire movie entirely by herself. She'd be a great choice for Sue imo.

As for Allison- her real life personality is pretty close to how I imagined Sue should be but Get Out proved she's an amazing actress who could be soft and sweet but also a complete badass whenever she needs to be.

RDJ was pushing 42 when he filmed Iron Man and that wasn’t a problem then and it isn’t now. I don’t see why these characters can’t be in their 40s. I’ve always imagined them these days being that old.

BTW. Theron hasn’t aged in a decade. With or without makeup.

Just because you've imagined them all in their 40s doesn't mean they are. When has Sue ever been in her 40s?

Reed is okay for that age, but only him and perhaps Ben. But not the other two.

Honestly, how old are they really supposed to be now? Marvel’s comic book timeline is a catastrophe. I keep thinking Spider-Man’s 35 nowadays.

Sue has never been 40 years old. She was actually younger than many people realize, In her 20s. But she has ALWAYS been younger than Reed In most mediums. 40 is simply too old for her

Even if all that’s true, it’s Hollywood. It’s not about how old you are; just how young you look. Certain actresses maybe Christmas cakes to you all but as long as they can act and are at least youthful looking enough, the parts are handed to them on a silver platter. Don’t know if that’s sexist of me saying that but it’s true.

Mainly, I think, we picture these characters as mature adults, being that Reed and Sue are the heads of their own family and, indeed, as some see it, as the heads of the entire Marvel “family.”

That’s really what we’re asking for here, in regards to live action casting. A good way of differentiating them from The Avengers and The Guardians would be to introduce them fully realized. As an already complete unit (which has been part of my reasoning for wanting an actual married couple like Krasinski and Blunt for the leads. Chemistry is the most important part, remember, and I acknowledge that.)

But Marvel has never cast an actress over 34 as a main hero. They've always been in 25-34 age range when initially cast. Sue most likely will fall in the same bracket

Benedict Cumberbatch is what I would imagine an actor vying for the role of Reed Richards would look like age wise. How old is he? Somewhere's around late 30's early 40's to me. He's 42 and he just started a franchise a year ago. I don't want to hear that 40 is too old to start a franchise.

I have seen Age of Adaline and The Shallow and the trailer for her new film with Anna Kendrick and it just seems to be the same character... over and over. She’s not bad but I feel like every role she takes lacks an energy.

Cumberbatch was 38 when he was cast in 2014, so I imagine Reed being in a similar age range as that. 37-41. Sue will probably be younger

I like Matt Smith as well and I know some say he'd be too nerdy for Reed but that's pretty accurate to what modern 616 Reed has become.

That sort of range sounds good. And it’s more the age the actor gives off than what age they actually are for me.

He was 40 when the movie was released.
I know but he was 38 when he was cast and 39 when they filmed the first movie, the time-frame when Marvel was taking age into consideration. Someone who is 43 right now will be 45/46 by the time the first F4 is filmed assuming the movie even comes out in 2021. So actors who are in their late 30s now would be ideal.

I could see the age difference between Reed and Sue looking similar to the age dynamic of RDJ and Gwyneth Paltrow

You know, there's a name that might actually be an interesting pick for Sue.

He can play nerdy but he can also play cocky and commanding. And I think that huge, manly jaw alone saves him from ever coming across as weak character.

They are deliberately vague about 'Marvel time' and it's ever sliding time scale but it's around 12 years since the FF came back from space and started the ball rolling. Parker in the comics I think is around 27 these days, give or take.

With the sliding time thing this means the modern Marvel universe (all things post FF) kicked off around 2006 relative to real time.

My new top choices for Reed and Sue. I really don't get the appeal of Krasinski as Reed. He just seems too.... friendly. Age-wise, I think mid 30's for Sue and late 30's - early 40's is good for Reed.

I wouldn’t be adverse to Terry Crews being Ben Grimm.

Instead of Yancy Street, Ben could be from Bed Stuy before the gentrifiers came in lol.

I like how Krakinski looks as Reed(from the fanart I've seen) but I don’t know —he kind of comes across as friendly jock(I also think he’s too conventional movie star handsome for the part to the point I would kind of find it distracting). I think Isaac would be able to pull off the darker obsessive qualities of Reed while maintaining the patariachly leader.

Plus I don’t buy Kraksinki as a scientist. While with Isaac I can see as a shut-in scientist that buries himself deep in his work as he has shown in Ex Machina.
