Mark Ruffalo isn't even 6ft tall.

And your point being?

Because my point is as I said above that I said Ben Grimm not the Thing. Citing Ruffalo is as if to try to make the argument that he's not too short to be Hulk since they use CGI. But I didn't say the Thing who would be done by CGI but the human Ben Grimm who is more of a football player. Banner on the other hand isn't known for being a big guy like Grimm.

It seems rather silly to be concerned about the height of a character that will be CGI for 90% of his screentime.

My reply was late. Mostly responding to the comment saying he's a tall guy.

But I will say jaime bell being a small baseball playing guy, really took me out of believing he was Ben Grimm.

I'm excited for what costumes they'll get inspiration from.

I'm hoping for the blue and white one's or the recent one's above.

Hedges is good—I’d like him in the MCU at some point. I could see him doing Torch justice
He's a very good choice.
But then, John Watts is in charge. I'll doubt he would go for that kind of actor.
After HC and FFH he might be self-confident and cast Fantastic 4 just the way he'll like it (If Marvel don't stop him). That could mean he even might alter the characters to his own liking.
It can turn out that any look-wise similarity between Lucas and Johnny would be thrown out the window.
But with Watts now onboard, the film desperately needs actors like Lucas to hold it together.
Not just exclusively him, but actors in general that are on the same level.

Alan Ritchison (38)

Good suggestion!
But he looks like he could be Lucas older brother. They can't cast them both then.

If I can suggest what I prefer, it might get backlash.

I want the old classic design like in the pic below, the same design, blue with the big logos in a white circle.
But with new fabric/materials and being more up-to-date with current superhero outfits.

You might as well overlook the last sentence because people won't really pay notice of it. They will think I want exactly the same suits from the pic, that the studio should pick them up from wherever the suits have been stored for 26 years, and re-use them for the upcoming film
That's what people will think I want. And it will make them see red.

I'm sure you can understand that the folks who have been waiting decades for a quality FF movie want Ben to be depicted accurately both in the flesh and while clad in orange rocks. We want someone who looks like they could have been a collegiate football star and fighter pilot, and it helps to cast an actor who is not a wee fellow.

I do like the new ones a lot, but I’m hoping for multiple suits throughout the film. Maybe that’s asking too much for their first outing, especially if it’s origin/set in an early adventure, but I’d prefer it.

One note though, I’d hope that Thing’s main look is his trunks/shorts. Let’s see them toes

Im rewatching the OG F4 and I still love it even if it isnt the best. I hope the castings are as good/better than Alba/Sue, Evans/Johnny (ESP this casting), Gruffudd/Reed, Chiklis/Ben.

Hah I actually put the first movie on the other day, but didn’t end up getting past Reed’s pitch to Victor. I still think that movie has its charms and, you’re right, the casting was excellent.

I still would have taken a sequel with Franklin & Black Panther in the mix tbh

Considering how bad Alba was generally agreed to have been by many (including me) it won’t be a tall order to find casting that’s better than her. :o

I’m sure you don’t agree with my opinion on her performance, but yeah one of the most unfortunate miscasts in comic book movie history. Even if I buy that her version was based on early 60’s Sue, I never thought Alba was good in the role or written well. She’s hot but that’s about all she has going for her. Not to mention the dyed hair or wig, and blue contacts making her look like a life-sized Barbie doll...oof. More than a little distracting.

I think it was the writing and the crazy blue contacts/wig—especially both in the 2nd film—that didn’t do Alba any favors. But agreed, the bar isn’t set high for the next actress and we can easily do better.

I think Alba was a fine actress in the 1st one. A lot more enjoyable then the power house of an actress that is Kate Mara.

She looked absolutely fine in the 1st one (imo) but they really upped the whiteness in the 2nd which everything about her look was just bad.

Sure, it didn’t do her any favors but I think she’s a bad actress in everything I’ve seen her in so it can’t just be because of the writing, imo. Some of it falls on her just not being a very strong actress. Can you tell me what movie she was ever remotely good in?

To each their own, I thought wasn’t any good in any of those. She was always the weakest link in those movies for myself.

Tbh I think it’s just the Fantastic Four movies that I’ve actually seen from her filmography. I think her chemistry with the rest of the cast was fine enough, it’s just that Tim Story was interested in keeping her as the pretty face & really held back any character development. Who knows if she could have carried any of that though. I think in the 2nd one, she’s just mad because the Silver Surfer is distracting Reed Richards from their wedding plans?

I did always like the way her powerset looked when she deflected Doom’s blast in the first film, though—and did like that we were seeing her and Reed as exes when we were first introduced to them; that seemed interesting if they had a better way of writing their relationship:

Lol “Jessica Alba was a good Sue Storm” is not the hill I want to die on—I would have taken any of the rumored picks: Charlize Theron, Rachel McAdams, or Elizabeth Banks.

And you know what, that cheap $5 Corman film is probably still my favorite F4 film to date. That aint sayin much at all but, you know, LOL.

Jessica Alba came off as too immature and too snarky to me, but that’s probably as much the fault of the script and director as Alba.

Snarky is often her personality though, and she also does that scowl which is not very becoming.
