On Reading Reviews: A Different Vision for Us?

hey i just rewatched rogue's tv spot where she says : i am sorry boby this is just me.... and that's the same scene where she touches him without gloves and kisses him....did that appeared in the screening versions? because i was just wondering that she may kiss him start absorbing his powers, stop and then say: i am sorry boby this is just me... i didn't take the cure, and i don't love you neither... by the way i killed kitty when i saw her in the bathroom...it's just a jock(the final part) i just hope there's a new version where she rocks as much as kitty does...

Rohann said he did not recall Rogue's line "I'm sorry Bobby, this is me." at the press screening he attended.

From what we know, Rogue shows up at the clinic but we do not see her actually take the cure.. They could have shot multiple versions of Rogue and Bobby's final scene, one where she takes the cure and gives in (terrible) and one where she tells Bobby "This is me, I don't need to change" (better).

And so now it sounds like Trask doesn't deliver the "Then you know what needs to be done" line in the press-screenings version...Which is featured prominently in the trailer...Interesting...

^Yes,X4 is a must.

So is it possible that they're releaseing two cuts WHERE one version makes X3 the last, and the other it makes X3 more open ended?

Hey, just wanted to drop by to say...you have given us fans a lot of hope! even if we are misguided...but great work. I also want to ask: Bill Duke has said he had a role (not a cameo) in the movie, but does he play ANY part in the plot?

I guess not from what I've read, which is *interesting* since he said he did scenes with a green screen. Unless they superimposed the Oval Office in the background? We shall see soon enough...but you could ask someone who has seen the press screening version in one of those threads! :D

That would explain a $ 210 million budget... Instead of bringing Duke to the set, Ratner said: What the hell, just put some green screen at Duke's home, let him do the scenes there... Fox is paying!"

According to Anton Oksehud the cerebro door opening is in the final cut.Previous reviews said it wasn't.

From the interview:
"So having seen both films, and then being directed by Ratner, could you tell there if the style will be different?
BD: I think that there are details to a degree. A lot of stuff was against the green screen and I did not get to work with all of the actors at one time, but with the green screen, we were told what happened before and what happened after; so you’re acting to a black screen but his description of that was very dramatic and very vivid."

something is wrong here.

Oh thanks for bringing this up. That quote made me think that the sentinel will be in the final battle. there's no way that it wouldn't. I bet we get a glimpse of Trask Sentinel project.

Can people recall if there was a Sentinel project folder in X2 when Mystique was snooping around?

Yup, Wideawake Project, among other folders (Omega Red, Franklin Richards, Cerebro...)

Here are a couple tidbits provided by Anton Oksehud, who was kind enough to answer questions in his thread... :D

About Secretary of Homeland Security, Trask:

Well the strange thing is, he doesn't do a lot of things, really... Her hangs out with the president, and mostly apologizes, that he hasn't located Magneto yet....

-No sweat...

Psylocke
appears from nowhere (the shadows) at a certain point in the final battle

Phoenix
a vortex is seen appearing in the lake, and a water mass rises up, a shock wave appears, that knocks Scott over, and he sees a bright light, and Jean appears in that light.

Rogue
does take the cure

Angel
is not seen in uniform, but he flies in at alcatraz to save his father at the nick of time, as he is pushed from the roof

And here are more of his remarks about some of the *missing* footage...

The EW articles states Ratner is still working out the final touches to X3. So NONE of the reviews posted can really be trusted as the FINAL version of the film. Again, this movie had a very tight schedule and they'll be working on it til the last minute. Hopefully, one of the changes will be to show Scott survived...

I DO believe there will be a different version when it premieres. I'll let you know.

And again, I think any complaints shouldn't be directed towards Ratner, but towards the writers and studio, Ratner came late to the party and HAD to go with what THEY had.

Really? What date was the EW article published??

We're not complaining at all...Quite the contrary!! To me there is no sense in complaining about a movie you haven't even seen. Unless you just like to complain I guess... :D

I believe that it's the new issue that just came out.

Meaning that the article is probably no older than a couple weeks old.

I agree with tainted.

I don't believe that Fox would hire WETA, the LOTR special effects crew, just to make Phoenix's eyes black. I probably could have done that, and for much less cost.

I am firmly of the belief that we will see something on May 26th that hasn't been seen yet. TOO much has been cut out at these press screenings.

I know that stuff shown in trailers and TV spots often gets cut in the final release, but it seems like half of what has been shown isn't in the film. That never happens.

We're gonna see a different cut. It might not be some 2 hour 15 minute version... but I bet we see something around 1:50 - 1:55 w/o credits. And I'm almost willing to bet that one difference has Cyclops actually making it to the final battle.

Well some people and reviewers are.

In any event, I am very excited to see this film and I already have my ticket for the first midnight showing. It's my first time doing anything this crazy!

I'm not sure about the EW but its brand new because it just came out with X3 on the cover. From the sounds of the article I'd say last week. I think they mentioned that X3's release was just a couple of weeks away and he was putting the final touches on the film... something like that.

I HOPE we do see Cyke in the final battle. If not, I really want an easter egg showing he survived. Even if its him washed ashore on the other side of Alkali Lake and waking up after the end credits. Just give us hope that X4 will include him!

The Ratner quote is more fuel for the fire...let's hope we get an awesome cut of the film next week.
