possibly not if some sort of funding is factored in....
I still don't think anybody outside the wrestling world takes the WWE seriously. Hollywood doesn't. The USOC has real sports, while the WWE is scripted. A deal could help Linda McMahon's Senate campaign though as I would think supporting (and maybe even funding) the US Olympic Movement would be seen as a huge positive.
However, I am skeptical that the WWE and the USOC will come up with a deal. And the only sports that the WWE could take athletes from would be wrestling, taekwondo, judo, weightlifting and boxing. They won't take soccer, swimming, gymnastics or Track and Field (except maybe discus and shot put guys). Besides, female track and field athletes are not what the WWE looks for in their divas (blond, white and huge racks).
I can see female gymnasts being a potential fit for the divas division (some of the best divas were tiny, tiny women). The huge racks can be purchased later.
I could see it if they wanted to add some athletic Divas. AJ looks like she's built like a gymnast. I don't know who else among Olympic athletes who could be potential fits though outside the sports I have mentioned. I follow track and field, and while there are some fairly attractive women in that sport (especially on the American side), I don't know if they can fit that WWE Diva mold.
To be perfectly honest though, how many Divas in the current roster fit that stereotypical "Diva Mold" even now? Basically Kelly Kelly, and that's it, and I hardly see her on TV anyways. Beth, Nattie and Kaitlyn are blonde but are built like powerlifters, Aksana is a little Reubenesque, one could say, and is herself built more like a weightlifter than like Pamela Anderson. AJ is a skinny gymnastics chick, and Layla is kind of a traditional pinup diva, but is also noticeably ethnic and is a fairly good worker.
The way Cena is booked sometimes I think this is actually possible:

Here's a Bret Hart interview. Bret's answered these questions before but at least now he acknowledges Flair as a good worker. Flair seemed to be having personal issues at the time. [YT]7T1zNhhbcGU&feature=player_embedded#![/YT]
Which makes me wonder... will Kharma ever return?

Which makes ME wonder..why the hell didn't they bring Kharma back briefly to destroy the Bellas on their way out of the company after they lost to Layla?
This wont get you the next HBK and Steve Austin, it'll get you guys like Brock and Goldberg who have no passion for the business.
I was thinking that myself. Its a real crapshoot. You can't always take top athletes and entice them with money and hope to teach them how to be a wrestler. The best thing is the best of both worlds. Go after good athletes and people who want to be wrestlers or good athletes who want to be wrestlers. More guys like Dolph Ziggler.
Maybe Kharma wasn't able to crush the Bella Twins because she wasn't mentally ready to come back? Remember, she had just lost a child and that can cause someone to go into "mental shock" if you will. Losing a child, especially right after birth is one of the worst things imaginable and she probably needed time to cope and she is just now both mentally and physically ready to get back into shape.
I think Layla returning and winning the divas championship was "Plan B" because I think they thought that Kharma would be ready (both mentally and physically) to return. Yes, she appeared at the Royal Rumble, but that was when we all thought she had just given birth to a healthy baby boy. We later found out the tragic news.
Physically, she may have been ready, but I doubt she was ready mentally to return to squash the Bellas. I don't blame the WWE entirely for this. Plus, why risk rushing her back into things if she's not mentally ready to come back?
Also, I applaud the WWE for allowing Kharma all the time she needs to mourn her loss. There was no sense in rushing her back just to squash the Bellas if she wasn't mentally ready to return.
Dude, like you said she came back for the Rumble and when the Bellas left Kharma had been saying herself online that she WANTED to come back around that period. This was AFTER we found out she had miscarried. She's been wanting to come back for a while even in a short term capacity. The reports have stated that creative just hasn't had anything for her and thats why she already hasn't come back even for a one shot deal before her full time return.
This is the same company that couldn't keep the story straight on the Big Show firing and rehiring by Laurinaitis. And even if Kharma came back now the divas roster is even thinner than when she left. Not as much fodder for her to goo through before getting into a big program. Its just been poor planning all around. They don't seem to hav eany direction for Beth right now even though thats the big money match and they should have her on some kind for trajectory to that long term future confrontation.
Its also the same company that offered Kelly Kelly a bigger contract after considering outside ventures when they fired Maria for doing that very same thing. Its because she was more marketable in their eyes. The divas division just isn't handled consistently.
I don't recall those reports that she wanted to come back after the miscarriage. If she did, then it's another example of Vince possibly having early signs of Dementia, except that nobody wants to tell him that he has it.
