Would Spider-Girl fill the niche of a married Spidey

Yea, I don't think it would fit either...but it is interesting to note that it seems like each Spider title would now have a distinct difference to them all..

USM - Teeny Bopper Spidey in high school

SG - Married Spidey with kid (though it is more about May then Spidey)

ASM - Umm...no comment til further clarification

Now who in the spidey universe has a red costume with red gloves?

Candidate 1: Daredevil
Likelyhood: Low

Daredevil is often partners with Spidey, but his inclusion in this storyline would seem king far out as he hasn't been involved much with Spidey recently.

Candidate 2: Jackpot
Likelyhood: High

Red-headed superhero who guest-starred in the FCBD Spider-Man Swing Shift. Obviously supposed to be MJ, Marvel iffy on where or when this issue fits into continuity.

Candidate 3: Madame Web
Likelyhood: Medium

A storyline heavily deling with Spideys life and fate could likely include Madame Web, but most images I've seen of her are gloveless.

Candidate 4: Dr. Strange
Likelyhood: Medium-High

We all know Dr. Strange will have some role in this story, Even though he usually rocks the yellow gloves, he will be showing up somewhere.

Hey,you never know. Close saga references have been popping up as well as the name "scarlet spider" being used in both Avengers: The Initiative and New Thunderbolts. What if MJ Married the wrong Peter? What if Jackpot is an MJ clone from that time that no one new about, or maybe the current MJ is a clone or a skrull?

There's a sixth possibility of whose hand holding that fragment is: the Spider-Man from the future as depicted in Amazing Spider-Man #500. That Spidey wore red gloves, and JMS has been reported as saying that ASM #500 will tie in to "One More Day" in some fashion apparently.

Quoted for truth. Though I don't read Spider-Girl (yet), I've heard enough good things about it I'll be picking it up instead of this new 10-times-a-day ASM Marvel will be shipping if 616 starts featuring a single Spidey.

Yeh....i don't think too many people are clamoring to have Pete and MJ walking around OBLIVIOUS to the fact they're married...and MJ somehow turning into a superhero as a bonus face-slap.

But at least JQ will be able to let everyone know that if they want to read NEW SINGLE OBLVIOUS UN-MARRIED (but technically married) SPIDEY DATING HIS OBLIVIOUS MINDWIPED WIFE AND OTHERS....they can do that in the ONLY title out: "Amazing Love Triangles Of Spider-Man 3X".

I console myself with the fact that if they do tear apart the marriage, i KNOW they'll be retconning THAT mistake in a year or so. Then Pete and MJ will be happily married again, they'll not remember cheating on each other in love triangles, and we'll all have wasted a year moving backwards instead of forward. Then we can listen to JQ's new rumors of how he can NEXT break up the couple.

Ah yes, but if time travel is going to be used for "One More Day" like it was in that story (since it appears that the only way for Joe Q to dissolve the Spidey Marriage without making Spidey a widower or divorce is some kind of DC style alteration of the space-time continuum a la "Superboy Prime's Retcon Punch"--which I thought Marvel once claimed it wouldn't resort to such tactics because it was essentially cheap way of fixing things) you could have one of two possible scenarios:

a. future Spider-Man, just at the moment he gets shot, goes back in time to the day Aunt May was hit by the assassin to prevent her from dying, having made a deal with the "Lady in Red" courtesy of Dr. Strange to have "One More Day" to fix something in his past but at the cost of erasing something else. Or

b. Mary Jane from the future decides to only way to save her husband from death is to go back in time herself (and she's the "Lady in Red" somehow and prevent her marriage to Peter from ever taking place.

Not trying to give any weight to the Future Spidey theory or anything necessarily, but who's to say that it's not Future Spidey before the events of AMS #500 took place?

Well, Mephisto could very well be those "hands of death" (great, Spidey's making deals with the devil. Like THAT'S going to go over well.) But as for the hand in ASM #545, take a look at these for comparison:

It's got to be a red herring. Too much is leaked, Joey Q has been too obvious. Something is gonna go down but I think it'll be something we didn't see coming.

Either way, this is all shaping up to be another JMS-style, "Nothing will ever be the same" arc. I think, since it's JMS's last issue, it should be changed from, "End of an Era", to "The End of a Reign of Terror".

yea but i cant wait to see who it is going to be. Also yea i agree i would hate to see marriage end. The only thing i would like to see happen is somehow the world gets mindwiped of his id and the only people who know is mj,may and what ever heroes/villains who knew before the reveal in civil war. It would be silly to reboot spidey since no one else is getting a reboot in 616 verse from what i know and also with the skrull invasion story coming would be silly to do it.

I wouldn't mind them if Spidey didn't look like the alien from "Destry All Humans" in a Spidey outfit. I wish Joey Q from 9 years ago were drawing this instead of Joey Q "who needs anatomy" of today.

I like the "Classic" look, but I would have preferred them to get a more classic artist for the covers. John Romita Sr. doing to covers would have ensured that I would buy them.
