One More Day Discussion Thread

My first experiences looking at Larsen's art was his run on ASM, and he tried to be too "McFarlane-ish", in my opinion, which might have been the editorial mandate of the day.

I tried to read Savage Dragon, I think I have the first dozen issues or so, but I really couldn't stand to look at it...

But I like him as a person though...

:yay:

that's how i felt about his work as well. if you look at the ASM covers at the end of his piece, it kinda gives a good idea. my first run-in with him was when he took over for McFarlane on Spider-Man.

the other art of his that was posted looks different and i like that his work has evolved over the years.

I agree. You can't keep the 616 on a non-aging, sliding time scale forever, and if you do, you're a fool.

The existance of marvel, dc, disney, warner bros animation, the works of shakespeare, the simpsons and lots of other stuff I don't have room to type seem to contradict this rather arrogant assertion.

Marvel's got plenty of opportunities with other comics to tell stories involving younger characters.

Sure if they want to make comics that don't sell and don't feature any of their big name characters cos they've died of old age/retired (well apart from wolverine he's always going to be around).

cept it made sense in terms of character and universe...

Hey I was just thinking of something, i was re-reading OMD and remember that lady in red? We never found out who she was but she said i'm a posibility yet to occur...Could it be scarlet witch? In OMD she was talking about making probabilities into possibilities, wasn't that scarlet witch's original power? I dunno, maybe that was forshadowing that potentially scarlet witch will play a role in peter's life later?...

Um.

No.

The woman in red is Peter and MJ's future daughter, otherwise known as May Parker otherwise known as Spider-Girl.

It said so very explicitly on the page that you're looking at.

Um, no it isnt. Look at that page again dude. The little girl, yes that was may. But the grown woman in red was never revealed. She said quote " I'm a possibility yet to come. But thats a discussion for another time." They never told us who she was.

yeah. it asks why they didn't ask about her and that train of thought leads them to think about the girl. that woman could fit into many different theories: older version of daughter, Scarlet Witch, a hint that the orchestrator is Mephisto.

Um.

Noooo.

The tell us who she is when they continue discussing the exact same person in the very next panel. The little girl is the woman in red. Why would Peter freak out over the identity of the little girl when faced with the vision of the woman...if the two have nothing to do with each other? Why in the world would a random woman even remind him of the little girl unless they were connected? That would make no sense at all. The "possibility yet to come" is a direct reference to the fact that she's their possible daughter. It's the same conversation.

Not to mention the fact that she looks exactly like Mayday Parker (and nothing at all like the Scarlet Witch, I might add). This isn't some mysteriously subtle Jedi mind trick rocket science, people. It's literally right in front of our faces.

Ok fair enough, my mistake. I guess i just mis-read it. The way it was written, it seemed like they introducing a new plot thread. The whole " But that's a discussion for another time." thing threw me off i guess. My mistake.

Maybe that "discussion" is The Amazing Spider-Girl. It takes place in another time.

The impression I got was that Mephisto was just being Mephisto. "Ha ha I'm gonna tell you about how you just made the single biggest mistake of your lives...but I won't really tell you about it." He knew darn well that baiting them like that would get them riled and freaked out and desperate to know more. It's not as if Peter was going to be like, "Oh, discussion for another time? Sure, okay, I'll catch you later then."

"I'm surprised you forgot to ask about me" is pretty self-evident. How could these two be so blind as to sell their relationship without asking the children that they'd lose? Mephisto's having his last laugh.

How could they be so blind as to accept a deal with the devil in the first place? Best not to put too much thought into it. Joe Q and JMS sure didn't.

I dunno, I think Quesada actually put a lot of thought into making sure this pisses off as many fans as humanly possible.

It's sounds almost comical -- uh, no pun intended-- when I put it like that, but seriously. Why in the name of sugar would you even add in an extra scene specifically devoted to wiping Mayday out of existence if not as an extra fck you to all the Baby May devotees and MC2 fans? It takes a ridiculous amount of thought and preparation to be such a massive fck; I can't believe it just comes naturally for Quesada without any work at all.

OMD is the black spot on the Peter Parker character.

Eh, May getting wiped out of existence doesn't bother me. They're still publishing Spider-Girl. It's just clearer now that it absolutely does take place in an alternate universe, which most of its readers had figured out about an issue into the series anyway.

I have this strong desire now to read Spider-Girl. How much of a jumping on point was the new #1?

I saw Spider-Man and Jackpot making eyes at each other in the preview for one of the next few issues.

I couldn't get into Spider-Girl, probably because of my fascinating Spider-Man hate.
