And here it is, the history (thus far) of the One Universe RPG! As always, if corrections need to be made, contact me or post in the thread!
There was a flash, and a boom. And two that were separate became one.
One Universe RPG history
The One Universe is a melding of the histories of both DC Comics and Marvel Comics. Every aspect of history is merged, every character affected.
Cosmic
Thanos, Galactus, the Asgardians, and every god and goddess of both Marvel and DC are present. The Fourth World, with New Genesis and Apokolips, exists in a separate dimension, wherein Izaya, Highfather of New Genesis and arch-foe of the dread god Darkseid communes with the Source, an aspect of the One Above All. Thanos remains in love with lady Death, though she is an Endless, his love for her knows no bounds, and all of his schemes culminate in her loving him. Galactus was created by the One Above All from the miasma of creation to be the counterbalance to life. Galactus is an enormous, planet consuming being and the embodiment of the Power Cosmic, and he uses heralds to find the most suitable worlds for consumption. Still there are Watchers, a great society of cosmic beings who have pledged to record all that transpires in creation. Their quest is that of ultimate knowledge, a quest that can never truly end. They have recorded everything since the dawn of creation, from the Final War of the Old Gods to the formation of the galaxies and planets. They remain neutral entities, forsworn only to observe; never to interfere.
The gods and goddesses all exist as part of the realm of the Dream King, Morpheus, their power waning and increasing dependent upon how many worshippers they have. There was, in ages long ago and unrecorded, a massive battle between the Old Gods, as they are termed. After this cosmic conflict, ended only by the intervention of Morpheus who sought to preserve the dreams of all, the gods decided upon new paths while the One Above All created the Fourth World of the New Gods, who existed outside of the realm of dreams. The Asgardians chose to protect Earth and watch over it, for many were the legends that the next gods would arise from that place. They had only uncountable millennia to wait before they saw the beginnings of mankind's godhood.
Earth
1939-1946
In the 1940s, the so-called Golden Age of the Mystery Men. There, legends like the All-Star Squadron and the Justice Society of America fought evil the world over in the age of the World War. Heroes such as Namor, the Sub-Mariner from Atlantis and the Human Torch, a living robot who could become wreathed in fire, acted as a Dynamic Duo against the Axis powers. Captain America was a founding member of both the JSA and the All-Star Squadron, and Green Lantern, the Emerald Knight of Gotham City, stood as the shining example from his age. With the end of the war came the death of Captain America and Bucky Barnes, deaths of such great magnitude that it rocked the fledgling superhero community. Shortly afterwards, both the All-Star Squadron and the JSA disbanded in mourning. With the coming of the Cold War, the mystery men faded into obscurity due to the wave of McCarthyism that seized the United States. Both the Human Torch and the Sub-Mariner disappeared mysteriously around 1949, leading to many conspiracy theories about their disappearance.
2005-2006
The Superheroes Return & The Invasion of Earth
It began, fittingly enough, in New York City. There, a man gifted with the powers of a spider was seen, a marvel of his time. The appearance of the Spider-Man heralded the opening of the floodgates as dozens of costumed champions and horrible villains emerged. The Superman in Metropolis, the villainous Doom in Latveria, and ever more. The heroes were a disparate group, not acting in a unified manner until the monstrous Hulk appeared in Star City during a gathering of the rich and powerful in the mansion of Olliver Queen. Unknown to many, the superheroes were in attendance, figures such as Tony Stark, Clark Kent, and Reed Richards all there. Superman, Iron Man, the Flash, the Batman, Mr. Fantastic, the Thing, and Black Canary all worked together to put down the Hulk. In the aftermath of the colossal battle, many of the heroes were left questioning their purpose. In the melee, Olliver Queen's mansion had been annhiliated and the performing group The Flying Graysons had been killed, leaving only Dick Grayson behind, who was taken into the care of Bruce Wayne. Shortly following this event, a group of explorers in the Arcitc, working for Lex Luthor and Wilson Fisk's LuthorFisk Inc uncovered a shocking discovery. Frozen in the arctic wastes was the long thought dead Captain America, who was quickly reviatlized and brought up to speed on the new world he found himself in. As the world hailed the return of one of it's greatest champions, ominous portents began appearing.
On Asteroid M, Magneto was sent to another dimension, leaving the mutant nation of Genosha leaderless. In Star City, the Green Arrow fought a shadowy assassin named Kanto. Iron Man's armor, aided and enhanced by a Motherbox of New Genesis, gave Tony Stark warnings of impending doom and knowledge of a nightmare world called Apokolips. Finally, the watcher Uatu warned Reed Richards of the coming of a being known as Darkseid.
A day later, it began. With a boom, an invasion fleet unlike any other assaulted Earth. From Tokyo to Paris, LA to NYC, the ships came. At their head was the dread god Darkseid, immortal ruler of Apokolips and master of the Omega Effect, had come to Earth seeking conquest. Against his nigh-omnipotent might stood the assembled heroes of Earth. Wolverine, Nick Fury, Sabretooth, Spider-Man, and the Green Arrow boarded Darkseid's command ship, while Lex Luthor and Captain America attacked it in LuthorFisk developed aircraft. But despite the resistance from Earth's heroes, Darkseid would not be denied his conquest. Darkseid manhandled even Superman and Thor when they attempted an assault on him. The fight was so furious that a three hundred foot crater was created by the battle. It was not until Reed and Sue Richards of the Fantastic Four arrived that Darkseid stopped his assault. Reed Richards held the most powerful weapon in the universe, the one thing that gave even Darkseid pause.
The Ultimate Nullifier.
Reed was given a choice by Darkseid. Hand over the Ultimate Nullifier and Darkseid would leave, or use it. Realizing that if Darkseid was given the Nullifier it would only serve to make him more powerful, Richards decided to use it. The energies of the Nullifier came in contact with the Omega Effect, and in an astonishing display of cosmic power, the Omega Effect won out. Darkseid and his forces, instead of being Nullified, were returned to Apokolips, momentarily shattering the minds of Darkseid's soldiers. Unfortunately for the heroes who had boarded Darkseid's command ship, they were returned to Apokolips along with the ship. Together, Spider-Man, Sabretooth, Nick Fury, Wolverine, and the Green Arrow made their way across Apokolips, eventually infiltrating Darkseid's fortress. There they were taunted by a seemingly more powerful Darkseid and were in danger of death until a team comprised of Johnny Storm, the Black Canary, Iron Man, Juggernaught, and the Flash Jay Garrick arrived on Apokolips. Storm rushed into battle with Darkseid, as did Juggernaught, but both powerful heroes were swatted aside by Darkseid. That was when the Flash and Black Canary launched their own plan, which saw Jay Garrick grab the stranded heroes while Canary unleashed her most powerful sonic scream, buying the heroes the time they needed to get back to Earth. It was them decided that a group of heroes should be formed to follow in the footsteps of the Justice Society of America.
Since Apokolips, Earth has become a battleground between heroes and villains. In Europe, a plague of zombies sweeps across the continent, created by the evil magicks of the wizard Mordru. Thor, Norse god of thunder, has been exiled to Earth by his father Odin, and has begun combatting the zombie plague. The newly formed X-Men, consisting of Cyclops, Wolverine, Charles Xavier, Beast, Gambit, and Rogue have opposed the villain Magneto as he attacked a nuclear missile base in New York state. Mysterio, with robotic versions of Captain America, Superman, and the Incredible Hulk has launched attacks across the United States. Such an attack has led the Juggernaught to confront the real Man of Steel in Metropolis, where the wizard Mordru forced the two into a battle. The battle raged for moments before Superman was able to stop the conflict, prompting Mordru to summon a massive monster to oppose the two. Working in concert, Superman and Juggernaught defeated the magical creation, only now to be confronted by the evil Mordru himself.
In Gotham City, the Batman has found himself opposing all manner of insane villains, including the incurably mad Joker. However, Batman was surprised by a new arrival to Gotham City: the Punisher, an ex-soldier with an axe to grind against crime. The Punisher came in search of the mobster Bobby Gnucci, and the Dark Knight Detective and skull-emblazoned warrior have gone into the investigation together.
