Hmm...I think the most equitable way to settle this is a fight to the death.

To the Arena!!!

Well, I'll get the ball rolling. Here are my awards for the One Universe RPG, Season 3, thus far:

BEST STORYLINE - THE SYMBIOTE SAGA
In the wake of "Spider-Man 3", Eddie Brock has done a stellar job of rehabilitating the story of Spider-Man and the symbiote, and retelling it for our 1U continuity. He successfully made Spider-Man - while under the influence of the symbiote - become increasingly dangerous and aggressive, rather than annoying and bratty, an all-too-common pitfall. I really enjoyed the battle between Spider-Man and Captain America, in particular. And the story ain't over yet. Now Peter Parker is in the fray as Venom (Eddie Brock is Spider-Man, Peter Parker is Venom....weird....), which means this should head in some exciting directions.

BEST HERO - DAREDEVIL (Peter Parker)
I should start this by saying, wiegeabo came INCREDIBLY close to getting this award for his top-notch work as Batman. Wiegeabo is just so consistently excellent and in tune with the character that I could probably shell out Best Hero awards to him indefinitely, I'm sure he'll be getting more in future. But this time round, I want to acknowledge someone who has really come into their own with their hero this season, and taken their writing and character development to a whole new level. And that person is Peter Parker, with his work as Daredevil. That first scene we did together with Matt and Harvey was a joy to write and be a part of. Every post you make is engaging, and you do well exploring the intricacies of Daredevil's powers. I look forward to seeing where you take him next!

BEST VILLAIN - DOCTOR DOOM (Johnny Blaze)
I think it says it all that I went back and forth between two villains in trying to pick one winner for this award, and both the villains are written by Johnny Blaze. But as great as your Green Goblin is, JB, I think your Doctor Doom is just that little bit better. You totally get the character, and you really portray him as a dangerous force to be reckoned with. And the scary thing is - he's just getting started! I have a feeling that when Doom really kicks things into full throttle, the s**t's gonna hit the fan big-time!

BEST DEVELOPED CHARACTER - WONDER MAN (SenseiofCheese)
Sensei, like with Zachary Zatara in DC, you have taken a character I knew/cared little about, and made them utterly compelling. And again, your characterisation is flawless. We knew that Simon William's actions against Tony Stark were wrong, but at the same time, your nuanced portrayal meant we could understand why he was doing it. Simon's growing hatred and resentment of Stark just felt so palpable and human and real, and the confrontation between you and Stark (kudos to Catman too) was just dramatic dynamite. And now you've portrayed his rebirth as Wonder Man in convincing fashion. Before, I talked about how being one of the best newcomers in these RPGs, but that compliment really won't do now. Surely, with this level of consistency, you must now be considered among the top tier of ALL the writers in these RPGs.

BEST NEWCOMER - SHLEE (Barbara Gordon)
It's hard to believe that you are a newcomer to comics, Shlee. As you stepped into these RPGs, and just instantly nailed the character of Barbara Gordon. You did it first in DC, but now you've brought her over here to 1U and effortlessly slipped into the Gotham ensemble. Your fight with the Green Goblin was exciting stuff. I look forward to seeing where you go next!

BEST FIGHT - DAREDEVIL VS JOKER (Peter Parker and Karem-Knight)
I think it was fairly obvious that I'd pick this fight for this award, seeing how often I have sung its praises in OOC. This perfectly encapsulated the sheer excitement and intrigue that a Marvel/DC crossover game like this offers, with these two characters from different universes just meeting and clicking and playing off each other so well. The build-up was great, with The Joker calling out Daredevil, and Daredevil showing concern at this intruding scum from Gotham spilling blood on his turf. And the fight itself was just BRUTAL! No punches pulled here, just all-out, bone-crunching violence. Stellar work, by both Peter Parker and Karem-Knight.

BEST POST - SUPERMAN SAVES LEX LUTHOR'S LIFE (Master Bruce)
Master Bruce is like the Daniel Day-Lewis of RPers. He doesn't appear too often, but when he does... boy, is it worth the wait! Here was a post so epic....he had to divide it into two posts! The whole thing was like a self-contained issue of a Superman comic. If I had bought this story in graphic form in a comic store, I'd feel like my money was well-spent. The characterisations of Superman and Lex Luthor alike were note-perfect, and the action and sheer spectacle was brilliantly realised. Everyone should do themselves a favor and read this post - both parts! - if they haven't already. And any time someone starts alluding to how they should just steal Superman from Master Bruce, it should be posted, and followed by "You think you can top this?"

As much as I blush and totally appreciate your nominations, I feel so inadequate to receive them! Especially with how little I've been playing lately. :(

Thank you very much, Keys, your words are really very seriously touching to me. <3

I just realized that I didn't have Shannow on the list for Ronin and Typhoid Mary. Shannow hasn't posted since they were accepted on the 29th. Anyone heard from them?

Ok, the 24 hour app period for Robin is up. Time to announce who gets the character.

It was a tough call. JB and I discussed it and came to a decision. Our new Robin is...

is................................

Green Lantern.

As he requested, he'll be dropping Iceman to take on his new role, so that character is now up for grabs.

I expected as much.

Well, I'll get the ball rolling. Here are my awards for the One Universe RPG, Season 3, thus far:

This, however, came as a pleasant surprise.

Good to see Robin in good hands, GL. Guess you got what you wanted all those months ago..

I also think it might be important to note that I'm going to be out of town for a while. I'm in Orlando right now for vacation, then, two days after I get back, I'm going to the SDCC, and, after that, I'm going to New York for a bit.

This is the only game I'm posting this notification in, as I'm incredibly tired and lazy right now.

Congrats, GL, you deserve Dick!

...that came out wrong, didn't it?

And Keys, thank you so much for the award. Praise like that coming from you really means a lot.

Aaaand there's my first Cyke post. Sorry if I sped things up faster that others intended, but neither GL or Nightfeathers had posted in a long time, so I figured I'd speed things up.

Thanks GL, that means a lot.

Hey, who knows, maybe sometime I can borrow your Dick and play with him a little :yay:

Here are my awards, children;

BEST STORYLINE - The Defenders VS Dr. Doom

This has got to be one of more fun arcs I've read. It's, quite literally, got the most awesome of both worlds. We've got Dr. Doom trying to mess with the Source Wall on one side, and on the other we have an assortment of badasses from both companies trying to stop him. I just love how this arc has come together, and a big kudos to all of those involved.

BEST HERO - Harvey Dent Keyser Soze

Two-Face is my favorite villain ever. He's arguably one of Batman's two most recognizable villains, yet he is so often left on the backburner. It's a real treat to see him played so extensively and written so brilliantly by Keys. It'd be a real temptation to skip through to Harvey being Two-Face, but Keys has really taken the time and dedication to show us exactly why Batman's most tragic villain is so tragic. Showing Harvey as the hero he truly is makes the knowledge of what he's going to become like a dagger to the heart.

BEST VILLAIN - Doctor Doom Johnny Blaze

JB has made yet another VERY memorable villain come to life in his posts, the other being his incredible work with Brainiac over in DC. JB, you just NAIL the good Doctor on every level. The way he acts, talks and believes himself so far above everyone else; it's like reading a comic published by Marvel. And not only that, but you have him doing something that, when I read, I literally couldn't wait to find out more about. I mean, Doom trying to get at the Source Wall is a brilliant story, and you've delivered in spades.

BEST DEVELOPED CHARACTER - Harvey Dent Keyser Soze

I don't have much to add to the reasons as to why I think Keys should also get this award. Keys' development of Harvey has been a treat to watch.

BEST NEWCOMER - Shlee Barbara Gordon

Like Keyser Soze said, the fight with Green Goblin was thrilling stuff. You're often pretty self-deprecating about your writing, but everyone here will testify to the fact that whoever you write you just seem to get. It's always a joy to read your stuff, and I just hope to be able to RP with you in the future.

BEST FIGHT - Dr. Doom vs Metron Johnny Blaze

This is just another reason I came to love JB's Doom. The fight was as awesome as it was short. Metron, a New God, came in obviously not believing a mere mortal to be much of a threat to his personal safety. However, Dr. Doom showed the God why he's DR. ****ING DOOM.

"Now...Now come kneel before Doom."

That moment there made me go "OW HELL YES!". Good stuff, man, good stuff.
BEST POST - Superman saving Luthor Master Bruce

I can't really say this any better than Keys did. Characterization, action, drama...this post had EVERYTHING. I could just see this whole post coming to life in my head, and I found myself hoping some exec over at Warner Bros would read it and put it in the new Superman movie. While reading the post, admittedly very long, I didn't once actually feel like I was reading a two-parter; a true testament to MB's ability to suck you into his writing and make you completely lose yourself in it.

Wow! Best Hero AND Best Developed Character! It really means a lot to me that you'd give me thse awards, Sensei, especially considering the stiff competition in both categories. I hope Harvey's transition from hero to villain doesn't disappoint!

Thank you both for the nods. That definitely mean a lot to me, and I appreciate it.

Should, hopefully, have my choices up before the weekend is out.

BEST STORYLINE - (Will edit in later)

BEST HERO - Spider-Man
Eddie Brock is Spider-Man (an odd thing to say, but, in this case, true). He's captured the character, including everything from his selfless sacrifice for family and strangers alike, to that eternal Parker luck. And he's damn good with the Spidey quips. But just owning a character doesn't get you a Best Hero nod. It's what you do with it. And Eddie's done just that. He's brought Peter back from the clutches of the symbiote and turned him into the heroic wall-crawler we all know and love.

BEST VILLAIN - Doctor Doom
Two words: Doctor mother****ing Doom. Two more words: Johnny mother****ing Blaze. That is one hell of a scary combination. JB has the gift when it comes to making truly villainous villains. If he wasn't playing Doom, I'd be giving this to him for his work as Osborne. But, since he is playing the dictator we all love to hate, and is on the verge of destroying all of existence, I think Doom gets the Best Villain vote this time.

BEST DEVELOPED CHARACTER - Harvey Dent
Keyser has made Harvey Dent into such an interesting character that I'm actually hoping that he doesn't become Two-Face. And I'm serious. Not only because he's built the character up so well that the inevitable tragedy we all know is coming is unimaginable, but I'd actually be interested just to see Harvey grow and continue on as his own character. I've never thought much of Two-Face, but I do now. I applaud your work Keyser. (Could we possibly make another character Two-Face? Maybe? Please?)

BEST NEWCOMER - Shlee as Barbara Gordon
She may say she doesn't deserve it, but we've all seen her do it before. Shlee comes in, takes a character, and makes it her own. And it never takes her long to do it. Now that she's survived her first fight as Batgirl, I can't wait to see what's in store for Babs.

BEST FIGHT - Daredevil/Joker
You know in the old Adam West Batman fights how the screen always said "Bam!", "Ooof!", and "Kapow!"? Well, if this fight were on tv, it would have said "Crunch!", "Crack!", "Bleed!" Yes, I know bleed probably isn't a good sound, but these two did a lot of it. Rightfully one or both should be dead, but, not only were they too stubborn to give up, they were too stubborn to die. When you read this fight you can feel the cracking of bone, rattling of teeth, wooziness of a concussion, and that odd feeling that comes with internal bleeding.

BEST POST - (Will edit in later)

:wow:

...

I didn't even know I was standing in left field, but I must be - because that's exactly where this came from. I suppose I can die happy.

No...wait. I don't see TDK until tomorrow night. Okay. After that, I can die happy.

BEST DEVELOPED CHARACTER - Harvey Dent

Thank you very much for the nomination and the compliments, wiegeabo. Since I hold your portrayal of Batman in such high esteem, it means a lot to get this nomination from you. As for what Dent's fate will be, well, you'll just have to keep on reading...:cwink:

I... am now pretty much a red head... maybe that will get me the motivation needed to post as Barbara Gordon!

I am going to pull my hair up in a pony tail with the bangs parted to the side, see if I can find some fakey glasses, and something Batman-ish (or make it!) so I can go as Babs Gordon to TDK tomorrow at 7:30. XD I am such a geek.

Dammit. *facepalm* I'm sorry, Wieg. I've been busy with stuff and TDK completely made me forget. Cap post tonight.
