One Universe RPG: Season III OOC Thread

Just putting it out there that I really don't want to lose Elektra, but the people that I would be RPing with are presently engaged in game, or with very valid reasons OOC to not be posting (<3 PP, I hope everything works out for the best honey). That said, give me a little leeway to get posts up please for her, until I can actually interact with people. I was put into a precarious spot with the way the speed of the RPG has been. Don't take her from me! *cry*

I think Harvey and Elektra should have a seedy affair while Bruce and Matt are occupied elsewhere! :cwink:

I'm posting for both my characters now. Sorry for the hold up, school has been rough.

I'm getting the feeling that I want to sign back up to this mo'fo, but my tastebuds aren't tingling for either Rids or Hulk.... I think I want to go with a 'human' non-super powered dude, preferably Marvel, and not a crap load of history to have to honor. But I'm not so sure who it'll be...

Any ideas peeps?

Pretty definite that I'll be back later on today as Wally. Have to think of a few things before I can tell you whether I'll be going on with Waller or not.

The Sentry and Vision on a secret mission to Khandaq plotted by Amanda Waller who has ulterior motives?

Why, you'd have to be CRAZY not to apply for Vision!

"One Universe" RPG SEASON III SIGN-UP FORM

Screen Name: Optikal

Character you would like to play: Matthew Risman

Powers: None

Brief biography of the character's history:
A trained sniper, Matthew Risman was in the middle of a hit when he suddenly received a call telling him to return to his home. Leaving his target, Risman rushed home, dragging his wife and daughter from their home seconds before a mountainside collapsed on it, completely obliterating it. As the trio looked at their damaged home, the man who had informed Risman of the coming disaster, William Stryker appeared. Convincing Risman that he had access to knowledge of future events, Stryker recruited Risman into the Purifiers, a group who believed it was their holy mission to eradicate all mutants and meta-humans.

List a few reasons why you have chosen that character: He's human, allowing me to tell a story without falling back on super-duper powers. I wanted to play an everyday man that could stand up to the challenge of facing off against the more spectacular characters within the 1U.

What can you bring to this game?: Enthusiasm and the ability to tell a good story. I also do good sucky sucky... ten dollar.

Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech: Century Gothic, Dark Blue

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: as many as needed

Please provide a sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 5 paragraphs long and contain at least 3 line of dialogue):

"And the Good Lord appeared to me, and proclaimed that the demons were put here on Earth by Lucifer himself! To test the faith of the good, and the pure and the holy!"

Sat upon a stage to the left of a large golden dias, Matthew Risman stared at the speaker. The man upon the dias was covered from neck to toe in long black robes emblazoned with a brilliant white crucifx, his arms spread out over the crowd as he spoke. His name was Reverend William Stryker and he held a captivated congression in the palm of his hand.

Risman glanced over the crowd in front of them and shuffled in his seat a little. Matthew knew first hand that Stryker was a great man, and more of a saviour to the hundreds of people in the room than any of the super-powered freaks that were falling out of the sky.

"And as the world bends and cowers to their will, we will not yield! We will stand strong! Our faith is our power, our purity is our strength and the Lord upon high is our guidance!"

"AMEN!" a random member of the congregation hollered.

"PRAISE THE LORD!" the rest of the congregation joined in.

Matthew glanced across at the white haired leader and smiled, He was the epitmoy of strentgh and power, and every syllable he ushered was spoken with the absolute conviction that was needed to rally people to their cause. The meeting came to an end and the Congression filtered out of the hall. Risman remained in his seat until the room was mostly empty before getting up to approach the Reverend.

He pulled back the deep hood that had covered most of his face and stood, nodding in appreciation. "Another brilliant speech Reverend. Each day more and more join our following. Soon we'll have enough followers to begin our mission in earnest."

Stryker smiled, his eyes glistening. "People are weak alone, they need certainty and leadership in these dark, uncertain times Matthew. That leader is God himself, I am merely a messenger for Him".

Stryker began to walk towards a small side door leading into a small study in the back of the building. Matthew fall into step just behind him. "And your position is a great one Reverend. The Lord is indeed wise and good and we are eternally for him saving the lives of my family."

Stryker stopped in his stride and turned, grasping Rismans shoulders at arms length and staring into his eyes. "God loves you Matthew, as God loves all of his children. He gave you a gift and in return He merely asks for your faith. You are a good man Matthew and in turn, you are destined to do great things".

Matthew nodded in acknowledgement. "I know. I will do whatever it is that He asks. And I will do it in his name".

"Good Man". Srtyker smiled.

"One Universe" RPG SEASON III SIGN-UP FORM

Screen Name: Peter Parker

Character you would like to play: Peter Parker AKA The Amazing Spider-Man

Powers: Peter Parker is naturally intelligent. His IQ rivals any of his peers. After being bitten by a radioactive spider at a scientific demonstration, Peter was granted all the amazing abilities of a spider.

  • Tremendous strength
  • Wall-crawling via adhesion
  • Precognition - affectionately known by the term 'Spider-Sense'
  • Incredible leaping abilities
  • Lightning-fast reflexes
Peter also used his ingenuity to invent 'web-shooters,' which fire an organic substance similar in consistency and properties of a spider's web.

Brief biography of the character's history:
High school sucks. For some, it's a struggle against grades and extracurricular activities. For Peter Parker, it has been a struggle against himself and his peers.

Left in the care of his Aunt May and Uncle Ben after his parents, Richard and Mary died, Peter has never lived what some might call a "normal" life. He is, without a doubt, brilliant. As such, he has never fit in with his contemporaries. Sympathetic teachers tried to help the young boy fit in, but, as everyone knows, kids will be kids. He made one friend: Harry Osborn, a boy who needed Peter's help. Befriending the "rich kid" only made Peter more susceptible to the rantings and ravings of the school jock, Eugene "Flash" Thompson.

Refusing to go to the school ball games, or dances, Peter passed his time after school by going to museums and scientific demonstrations. During one such demonstration, illustrating the power of radioactive waves, a spider slid into the path of radiation. From there, it crawled along the ground, and up young Peter's side, stopping on his hand. There, it burrowed its fangs into his flesh, injecting its altered venom into his bloodstream.

From then on, Peter realized he had developed unique abilities. He could crawl on walls, sense Flash's punches from a mile away, and the stacks of books he carried home from the library weren't nearly as heavy as they had been for so many years. He put one and one together and got to spider.

In keeping with the development of his abilities, he used his vast scientific knowledge to develop wrist mounted gauntlets he labeled "web-shooters." He created a synthetic compound that had elasticity, adhesiveness, and could be contained in tiny cartridges in his belt.

The cliché of "personal gain" came next for Pete. He did the late-night talk show scene, wrestling, and was even able to earn some cash. With his power, however, came arrogance and narcissism. After a gig, Peter had the chance to stop a common thug, a robber. He didn't lift a finger to stop the criminal, though, thinking that it didn't matter... it was another faceless criminal who simply got away.

The only father figure Peter had ever known, his Uncle Ben, was killed that night. Using his new powers for himself once again, Peter sought vengeance. As he stood over the beaten killer's form, he saw the man's face. It was the very same man he had let go. Peter's sloth and hubris had been the direct cause of his uncle's, an innocent man's, death.

From then on, Peter has lived with a phrase in his heart since the night his Uncle was killed. They are words that have defined him, and a motto he lives his life by.

With great power there must also come great responsibility.

It is his gift, and curse. His burden, his power. Peter Parker has dedicated his life to using his power for right, for good, and for the hope that one day he'll make up for his biggest mistake.

He's Spider-Man.

List a few reasons why you have chosen that character:

1. When I was in first grade, I went on a vacation to Canada. I remember the second morning of the trip, I woke up and turned on the television. As I lay surfing the channels, I came across an episode of Spider-Man: The Animated Series. Like that, oddly, an obsession was born. Since then, I have had toys, posters, games, puzzles, books, art, and any other medium that the character has appeared in. I see myself in Peter Parker now more than ever: he is a bright young man, who has been dealt a harsh hand by life, and he doesn't know how to handle things at times. He's still, at his core, a good individual, though. He is compelling to write, and an iconic character.

2. My username has bounced back and forth between characters plenty of times. Sure, I had a Daredevil phase, but, when it comes down to it, Spider-Man means more to me than any other character I've seen in fiction.
Period.

3. I think that writing well stems from a love of the characters involved. Spider-Man is a part of who I am, as nerdy as that sounds. I'm not going to pass up my shot.

What can you bring to this game?: I love everything about the character. my writing for him will be the best I can produce each and every time I write.

Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech:
Peter Parker - Red, Comic Sans, 2 / Spider-Man - Red, Comic Sans, 2, Bold

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG:

Manhattan, New York
10:47 PM

When people look up into the buildings and rooftops they walk between every day, they see me: a guy hanging upside down in his spandex on the underside of a gargoyle.

A young man was perched upside down overlooking the streets of New York, New York.

He was dressed in a red and blue outfit, draped with a web pattern over his chest.

Perfectly normal, right?

People walking on the sidewalk looked upwards and saw him. Some smiled, some gasped, some just stared. The Daily Bugle, nuzzled safely under most of their arms, was the number one source for news in the fair city of New York, and, as usual, a picture of the masked man hanging upside down beneath the gargoyle was on the cover.

Right.

In a split-second, Spider-Man dropped, gracefully falling through the air. His motions were rooted almost on instinct now, and he moved with unsurpassed agility.

But, hey, for a kid who's gone toe-to-toe with maniacal billionaires, aliens, and psychotic six-armed doctors, anything goes.

Sirens rang in the distance, and he extended his wrist as he fell. Contorting his fingers, he pressed down on a mechanism in the palm of his hand.

Here we go again.

THWIP!

Webbing rocketed out of his wrist, and stuck to the side of a building, pulling taught.

Lights from police cars blazed up avenues, as Spider-Man swung high in the night's sky, only a few blocks away.

How typical. The masked hero thought to himself, firing several more weblines out ahead of him.

He heaved downwards on a web, soaring several stories higher. The webbing swirled around him as he flew upwards towards the peaks of the skyscrapers.

The police below him weaved in and out of traffic as they rushed towards an erraticaly driving vehicle.

Time to go to work!

Within seconds, Spider-Man was a mere two stories above the ground, fifty feet above cheering civilians.

"Don't mind me folks, just saving a few lives." He jested, waving a few times. "Now, watch me do my Spider-thing."

Spider-thing? He hissed inside his own head. Parker, you've gotta come up with catchphrases that aren't so suggestive.

A tingling sensation crept down Spider-Man's neck as he glared at the speeding vehicle.

From the rear passenger seat, a man leaned out quickly, brandishing a shotgun.

Oboy. Spider-Man thought.

The gun fired and echoed through the streets, but none of the shot hit Spider-Man; he had already allowed his reflexes to take over, and he was rolling through the air with ease.

With a thud, he landed on the trunk of the car, face-to-face with the man who had just tried to kill him.

"Come on, now." He quipped, firing a shot of webbing into the man's face. "Didn't you get the 'you'll shot yer eye out!' speech when you were younger?"

He gripped the goon's collar and heaved him out of the seat of the car, tossing him onto the sidewalk in a cocoon of webbing like a lifeless doll.

"Huh." He said, peeking into the car through the rear windshield. "Guess he didn't get that speech as a youth."

The driver, now more panicky than ever, slowly started mounting the curb to avoid traffic.

Time to put a stop to this, Spidey. Peter Parker thought to himself. And fast.

He ducked out of sight, crawling onto the undercarriage of the racing car.

"Hiya, axle." He said, nodding at the bar between the two rear wheels. "Where's Slash? Rehab again?"

THWIP!

"Such a shame."

The tires screeched as all of the car's power and momentum suddenly stopped.

A lamppost was conviently in the path of the car, stopping it, and the driver, from evading the police any more.

Spider-Man withdrew a camera from his belt and tossed it to a nearby woman, whose jaw was hanging.

"Do ya mind, miss?" He said, hanging upside down in front of the unconsious driver's window.

"Say 'cheese!'" Spider-Man said to the unconscious goon.

The flashbulb went off, and Spider-Man hopped down from the web, taking the camera from the shocked woman and placing it back in his belt.

"Thanks!" He said.

The police arrived on the soon a few seconds later, and barreled out of their vehicles.

One officer sprinted up to Spider-Man, now sticking to a nearby wall.

"Thanks, Spider-Man." He said, relieved. "We owe you one over at the 22nd precinct."

"Well, I don't think they'll be giving you too much trouble from now on." Spider-Man replied, gesturing to the car and the cocoon a few blocks away.

A clock tower echoed in the distance, and Spider-Man glanced about.

"I have to get going, officer."

"Off so soon?" The cop asked.

"My biology homework won't do itself."
Peter Parker replied, as his mouth pulled into a smile behind his mask.

"Biology?" The sergeant muttered under his breath. "Well, thanks again!"

"Don't mention it, sir." Spider-Man called, firing a webline out into the canyons of steel and mortar.

"After all... it's all in a day's work for your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man."
