Just so you know, Shlee and GL, I'm posting tomorrow afternoon. If you want to contribute, it's up to you to get something up before then.

Next time you do a roster update, Trusty, you can remove the following posters...

SonnyBlack - Black Adam, Bullseye
Watchman - Moon Knight, Brainiac
Shannow - Typhoid Mary, Rictor
SuperFerret - Mr. Immortal
Carnage27 - Human Torch, Dr. Octopus
Librarian Thorne - Green Arrow
Master Bruce - Magneto

It's kind of sad when five of the six villains in the RPG are played by two posters. :o

I know I planned on straying away from third characters, but this is someone that I've wanted to try for quite some time.

"One Universe" RPG SEASON III SIGN-UP FORM

Screen Name:
Eddie Brock

Character you would like to play:
Dr. Harleen Quinzell

Powers:
None.

Brief biography of the character's history:
A recent graduate from Empire State University, Harleen Quinzell wasted no time landed a job at the infamous Arkham Asylum - putting her newly-earned degree to work right away. Harleen has also recently started a relationship with her superior, Dr. Tim Dini. This has earned some scorn from her peers - who believe that she's using him to get her job. All-in-all, though, things are going great.

However, it wasn't always this easy with Harleen. As a child and young teen, she was diagnosed with antisocial disorder. Coming from a well-to-do family, Harleen couldn't be seen as mentally ill. Her desperate parents attempted a risky maneuver: electroshock therapy. Fortunately, it worked. Harleen continued the rest of her life as a normal girl. In fact, her brush with insanity motivated her to pursue her career as a psychologist.

List a few reasons why you have chosen that character:
Harley is a criminal underused and unappreciated character. Whereas the Joker is just pure chaos and hopelessness, Harley never quite goes over the edge. She's always fighting her inner demons - even before she becomes obsessed with the Joker. Playing her now, as a psychologist, gives me a chance to make her fall a little more powerful.

What can you bring to this game?:
Puddin'? I guess the generic answer of 'enthusiasm' and 'reliability' should suffice.

Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech:
Red Arial Narrow (Bold Red Comic Sans in the future.)

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG:
As many as I deem fit.

Please provide a sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 5 paragraphs long and contain at least 3 line of dialogue):

I was alone in my office, filing another report on Sergei Kravinoff. I regret to say that I don't think I'm getting anywhere in my sessions with Sergei, but it doesn't hurt to try. His obsession with the hunt is...a peculiar one. It would be a harmless hobby if he didn't choose humans as his big game. But that's why he's here, and it's why I'm trying to treat him. I expected it to easy, really. I could start by transferring his obsession to regular game hunting. He hasn't responded well to that. I'm honestly running out of ideas.

"Dr. Quinzell?"

I look up from my desk to see my colleague, Dr. Paul. He's looking frazzled, as usual. I will admit that this job isn't an 'easy' one, but he especially seems to have a hard time dealing with the stress. Every time I talk to him, I try to understand where this anxiousness originates from, but there's something about psychologists. We know when we're being psychoanalyzed - and most of us don't care for it.

"It's Roger Hayden," he explains quickly.

I roll my eyes. Now here's a treat. "Babbling about the 'multiverse' again?" I ask, sighing deeply. Dr. Paul just nods. Roger Hayden is another...unusual case. We seem to have more than our fair share of that around here. He calls himself the Psycho-Something-or-Other. I don't take time to learn their quaint little 'aliases.' But doing that, you only encourage that kind of irrational behavior.

Quickly grabbing my pen, paper, and a tape recorder, I get up and follow Dr. Paul down the hollow corridors of the building. Our footsteps echo - his pace only slightly quicker than mine. After descending a spiral iron staircase, our scenery drastically changes. From the quiet hallways that house the staff rooms, we transition to the grimy corridors where the inmates reside. The decor is so hopeless and lost that I'm surprised I don't have more suicidal-tendencies.

Dr. Paul and I come to a halt in front of Hayden's cell. What a pathetic man in such a pathetic environment. Huddled in the corner, Hayden is shaking and muttering things to himself. He looks up and sees me, and I can see the madness in his eyes. Jumping at the bars, he reaches for me desperately. The guards start to move in, but I wave them off. I can handle myself. "The Crisis! It's coming! It's coming again!"

I try not to show my annoyance. "Well, then, Mr. Hayden, we don't have a lot of time to talk then, do we?" I flash him a pleasant smile as I reach for the tape recorder in my pocket.

Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards?:

Approved. FYI, I made Ashley Kafka the new head of psychology at Arkham (taking Crane's old post). Other than that, the hierarchy of the Asylum is still a blank canvas.

Well, Harleen is new to Arkham, so I hadn't planned on putting her high up on the food chain.

Why wouldn't I be pleased?

Other than the fact that you're still posting, of course. :cmad:!

Syn, you're approved as Q. Just read up on him before hand.
I have, my friend. He's going to sound and act differently at the moment because it's his origin. All will be explained soon and the Q everyone knows will emerge.

When I picked up The Joker back in June, I did so with the caveat that should Karem return, the character would be his. He told me that he'd be back in early July, so I'd only be taking the reigns for two weeks, three tops. I've had the character for two months now, established plans for the rest of the season into next, and given the character my own style, tone, and feel. That's why I'm wondering if it's okay for us to remove the aspect of my playing the character that insists that, should Karem return, I have to relinquish him.

Just a thought/request.

Having done a bit of reading up, I've decided that perhaps a character as steeped in the mythos of this RPG as Hulk, is a bit of an overwhelming character to play with right now. With so much back history to consider, I think a newb like me would be better to a more minor character... I'll be posting a new app for a more open character shortly :D

...I... honestly think that's more of a matter of your own personal loyalty to such a deal, rather than some kind of official policy.

He must do what he feels is right, of course.

Unless we think it's wrong, in which case we'll never let him forget it.

...I... honestly think that's more of a matter of your own personal loyalty to such a deal, rather than some kind of official policy.
I just don't want Karem to come back after four or five months and demand that he have his character back after I've invested quite a bit of time into him.

Then...drop him now? That's about all your choices, dude.

I just don't want Karem to come back after four or five months and demand that he have his character back after I've invested quite a bit of time into him.

He'd have no right whatsoever to do that. Whatever right he had to the character was relinquished when he gave him to you. If it were a reserve, that would be quite different, but this game has no reserves. You're playing The Joker now. That means the only person who has a say in the matter is you, and you alone. The only way he could get the character back from you is if you felt obligated to give him up, which is a choice on your part, not anyone else's.

It'd be the same if I suddenly decided I wanted Spider-Man or Superman back. That wouldn't be my decision. It'd be EBJ's, and given how dedicated he is to both characters, I'd be screwed. But that still wouldn't give me the right to just suddenly say "I want _______ back!" and get them.

It's in your hands. :hoboj:

You know, I had actually written out an application for Ra's Al Guhl when I realized he was DC, and that I already had two.

Then, I searched the previous season for anything done with Mr. Sinister, but found nothing. After typing out that app, I double-checked and found that he had been used.

I am this close to a nervous breakdown. :csad:

So here goes my third character;

"One Universe" RPG SEASON III SIGN-UP FORM

Screen Name:
Senseiofyo'mamma.

Character you would like to play: Devos the Devastator

Powers: Devos wears a powers suit. The suit is highly impervious to damage and grants him superhuman strength. The suit also has various offensive weapons, such as wrist blades (A la Wolvie), energy blasters, frost grenades and poisonous gas.

Brief biography of the character's history: Devos is an extraterrestrial, an intergalactic vigilante that has decided to bring peace upon the entire galaxy. He does this by killing anyone whom he deems a threat to galactic peace, but holds the rather warped view that this applies to everyone, every being and every race, capable of waging war.

List a few reasons why you have chosen that character:

I wanted to play a villain, and a big one at that. Not a thug I'd be done with after one fight with the hero, but someone bigger than that. Ra's was no dice, Mr. Sinister had already been established and I'd especially wanted to do his origin. So, after a LOT of searching through the jungles of Marvel villainy, I stumbled upon Devos, who's motives interested me.

What can you bring to this game?: Decent writing, good interaction, and a whole lot of testicles.

Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech: Fixedsys, bold, purple.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: I plan on never, ever posting. Except two or three times a week.

Please provide a sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 5 paragraphs long and contain at least 3 line of dialogue):

<Come on, machine man, come at me!> the foul smelling behemoth of an alien roared at Devos, spittle raining out of his large mouth with each hate-laced word.

In the alien's three-fingered hand, which, admittedly, was larger than Devos' head, it held a makeshift axe composed of several pieces of scrap metal. Presumably taken from the ship the monster had attacked.

<It is because of filth like you that the world is in such disarray.> Devos stated with contempt, the translator in his helmet making short work of identifying the alien language.

The alien laughed. Cold, menacing. Slowly, Devos let the two wrist blades slide from their place in his armor, the sound of metal rubbing against metal filling the air. Under any other circumstances, the blades would take less than one second to fully eject. But Devos wanted this beast, this murderer, to see what was coming.

<HAHAHA! Your little tin suit does not scare me! I will twist your head off your shoulders, just like I did the pathetic little maggots on this ship!>

<Tell you what, big man.> Devos spoke through gritted teeth, his words angry and venomous. Just as slowly as the blades had come out, they were retracted into his suit. <How about you show me just how big and strong you are. Drop your weapon. That is, unless you think you desperately need it to kill me.> he continued, a smile forming beneath his helmet.

Even with the immense power and speed the suit he was wearing granted him, Devos knew that judging from the size of the alien standing opposite him, if it got it's hand on him he was a dead man. This, it seemed, the alien knew as well.

<HAHAHAHAHA> it bellowed and snarled. <If you wish to die with honor, that is something I can afford you.>

Devos' smile widened, hidden from view. He nodded, a gesture the alien returned, as it opened it's palm and let the axe drop to the ground.

It took less than 2.4 seconds, the analysis from his helmet would later tell him. Before the axe even hit the ground, Devos had produced in his hand a small, round, explosive charge. As the sand beneath their feet began to make way for the axe's arrival, Devos hurled the grenade at the alien.

PSSSAAAAFFFF

The alien stood, frozen in a large block of ice that covered it's entire body. It hadn't even had time to wipe the smirk of it's face. And finally, as the axe settled on the ground, Devos reached with lightning fast reflexes to his belt, grabbing his energy blaster and taking aim. A near-blinding light and a loud, warped bang sent a blast of crimson energy zooming towards the frozen alien, and, upon making contact, shattered the beast into a thousand pieces of ice.

Devos smiled, satisfied with himself, as he lowered the gun to it's holster. "I win."

"Ss...S..Ssiiirr....hheeeh...heeeelp...." a small, almost inaudible, voice reached Devos' ears.

Turning, he looked down to see a fragile being, easily five times smaller than himself, dragging itself to his feet with one arm. The other had been blown, or torn, off, blood pouring profusely from the wound.

"Mmmyyyy....wwouunds...can be heaaaaaled...savior....getttT...me to..the shhhhiippp...and I willllll....repay...yooooouuu..." the being begged, finally coming to a stop and reaching up with it's one arm for Devos' help.

Devos the Devastator looked down at the helpless alien and tilted his head. "I saw the insides of your ship. Weapons capable of unimaginable destruction. I borrowed some."

The alien tilted it's head, not comprehending what was happening. "You can not be allowed to corrupt this universe any further. Your weapons, and your war, is what is making this universe and all life in it kill itself. Your are a dealer of death, monster."

Devos used his energy blaster to take the other arm off the alien's twitching and convulsing body, before re-entering the ship and murdering each and every surivor in it.

Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards?:

He was used! I distinctly remember it!
Pfft, I don't even know who he is...

I almost killed you, MB.

...almost.

And neither do I, to be honest with you. I found him in the depths of searching for "Fantastic Four villains" on wikipedia. I guess that's what being a DC guy gets you.
