This RPG is similar to almost all others on Superhero Hype boards, except in this continuity, both the Marvel and DC universes are merged as "One Universe".

This past year has been full of triumphs, failures, and turmoil.
A new Zoom has robbed Central City of it's speedy hero. But with Zoom defeated, Central City finally has a new guardian running it's streets, as a young man stepped up and took the first steps to fill the hole left by a legend. But with a new Flash came new villains, each deadlier than the last. In New York, a young webslinger fell deeper into the pull of an alien symbiote before breaking away, only for the symbiote to find a new, more dangerous host out for revenge. And young love enters his life as he and Batgirl reveal their identities to each other.

Dr. Doom attempted to attain ultimate godhood in a complex plan that included selling Kryptonian souls to Neron, unleashing his Amazo android against the League, and tricking the New God Metron. Only ragtag band brought together by Dr. Fate stood between Doom and the Source Wall. Together, Fate, the Hulk, the Human Torch, the Atom, and John Constatine were able to trap Doom within the Source Wall.

Young heroes banded together to take down Gotham's mutant slaving ring. Working with Batman and Wolverine, the team of Robin, Nightcrawler, Starfire, Kitty took down the Penguin's operation. After taking technology from Tony Stark, Amanda Waller of SHIELD had Hank Pym create the Vision android and is starting the Avengers Initiative in response to the Justice League. And Supergirl, trained by her cousin, came into her own as a hero during the mutant uprising where the Master of Magnetism called for all mutants to turn against their human oppressors. Magneto formed an army bred for mutant supremacy, focusing his attacks on the US's major cities, centered at Metropolis. He was able to do what few have ever done: bring Superman to his knees. He and his army were eventually defeated by the combined efforts of the Justice League, the X-Men, and SHIELD.

How will the past year affect the present? What dangers will the superheroes oppose as they grow within their roles as Earth's guardians? How many new heroes and villains will emerge?

"One Universe" RPG SEASON IV SIGN-UP FORM

Screen Name: wiegeabo

Character you would like to play: Bruce Wayne/Batman

Powers: No powers. But years of training his mind and body to human perfection, and the resources of a billionaire, have made him into a crime fighter and the world's greatest detective.

Brief biography of the character's history: After witnessing his parent's murders, Bruce swore that no one would have to go through what he did. He traveled the world, training his mind and body for years so that he may return home and take Gotham back from the crime that had infested it.

List a few reasons why you have chosen that character: Firstly, it's Batman. C'mon, isn't that enough. Secondly, I have a number of plans for Bruce, including some great surprises. And after exploring the super heroic side last season, I think it's time to get a little down to earth and start exploring the detective side of his work.

And, maybe, actually give Bruce a life?!

What can you bring to this game?: More than a season's worth of playing the character and integrating him into aspects of both DC and Marvel histories. Some big adventures are heading Bruce's way, and maybe some things he can't handle on his own. It should be an interesting season, to say the least.

Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech: Bruce Wayne (thinking) / Batman (thinking)

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: As many as needed, but at least once every day or two as time permits. I usually do more when the game gets fast paced.

Please provide a small sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 3 paragraphs long and contain at least 1 line of dialogue):

I just stand there, my mouth open, my brain refusing to do anything.

Elektra stands there and just smiles. My heartbeat jumps up. "Um, hi?" I say, clumsily.

She laughs a little. "I know it's been a while since we saw each other at the benefit, but I wanted to stop by. See how you were doing. Keep in touch."

"Keep in touch...right." My brain has short circuited. Come on Bruce, think.

"So, how have you been?" she asks, a questioning look in her eyes.

Dammit Bruce, THINK! And finally my brain decides to kick back into gear. That easy playboy smile spreading on my face. "I've been fine, Elektra." I move out of the way and gesture. "Please, come in. Let's talk."

"I'd like that," she smiles. God, what a smile. She steps inside.

"Me too..."

"One Universe" RPG SEASON II SIGN-UP FORM

Screen Name: wiegeabo

Character you would like to play: Jay Garrick/The Flash

Powers: Super speed, and speedster tricks, accessible by tapping into the Speed Force

Brief biography of the character's history: Jay Garrick has been a hero for decades.

List a few reasons why you have chosen that character: This will by my third season playing Jay in the OU, and I feel like I've really made the character my own. I love the experience and skill that Jay brings with him. I think it's what is going to make him a valuable piece of the new League.

What can you bring to this game?: Seasons of general RPG experience, and experience with this character specifically. And I have a feeling that some interesting times are around the corner for Jay.

Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech: Jay Garrick (thinking...)

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: As many as needed. At least once a day as time permits.

POW.

I spit out a little blood, my split lip already starting to heal. But my pride is still wounded. "Geez, Ted. How the heck do you do that?"

"What can I say, Jay. When you got it, you got it." Ted says as he leans calmly against the ropes of the ring.

Ted and I have spared like this for decades. I can't count the number of times we've done this. But I can count the number of times I've beaten him. Two. The first time, when he underestimated my speed. And once a few years back when I got a lucky shot in. And he's gone hard on me ever since.

I rush at him and find myself laying on the ground after tripping over his outstretched leg. I sit myself up. "There is no way you could have sen me!"

Ted just smiles. "Jay, how long have we been doing this? I know all your moves before you even make them. And if you're serious about getting this League going, you're gonna have to come up with some fresh ones before your new enemies figure them out too."

I check my lip. It's already healed. "New tricks, huh? Like this?" Ted goes to make a move, but stops himself short when he sees ten of me standing in the ring.

"What the f-" I tap Ted and the shoulder and deck him as he turns around. He just looks at me with shock as he feels the cut on his own lip.

I shrug my shoulders. "Something I came up with when fighting Lobo. I've gotten really fast. By the way," I hold up my figners. "That's three."

Ted smiles.

"One Universe" RPG SEASON III SIGN-UP FORM

Screen Name:
Eddie Brock (formerly Eddie Brock Jr.)

Character you would like to play: Peter Benjamin Parker
/Spider-Man

Powers:
Peter's powers correspond with the abilities of a spider. As such, he possesses incredible strength, the ability to stick to and crawl on nearly any surface, a precognitive ability Peter affectionately calls "Spider-Sense," and incredible acrobatic skills.

In addition, Peter is something of a scientific whiz kid. His uncanny intelligence led him to design his web-shooters - small devices he straps to his wrist that fire a web-like fluid he designed. The web is sticky, elastic, and possesses incredible tensile strength. These characteristics, combined with Peter's intelligence and imagination, help Peter come up with creative solutions to many of his problems.

Brief biography of the character's history:
Peter Parker led what you could call an unfortunate life. His parents died when Peter was at a very young age. As a result, Peter was raised by his loving Aunt and Uncle, May and Ben Parker. May and Ben treated Peter as if he were their own, and they instilled in him a strong sense of morals and ethics. Peter is who he is because of their care.

It's not that easy, however. Peter was gifted with an almost prodigal intelligence that placed him on a much higher plane than his peers. What should have been a gift quickly became a curse. Peter always had his nose in a book, which translated into a target on his back. His bookworm, wallflower nature made Peter an easy target for bullies like Eugene "Flash" Thompson at school. Life outside the home was miserable for Peter.

One day, Peter's luck seemed to continue. On a routine field trip to a scientific laboratory, Peter was bitten by an experimental spider. He became very sick - giving Flash and his buddies a few laughs in the process. Peter went home and passed out. When he woke the next morning, nothing was the same.

It started with his eyesight. Peter realized he no longer needed glasses. It was strange, to be sure, but Peter thought very little of it. He was more intrigued by the fact that his bite mark had seemingly disappeared. It was as if he healed overnight. But it didn't stop there. In a confrontation with Flash, Peter discovered strength he had never felt before. He actually beat Flash in the fight. Instead of joy, however, he felt terrified. He didn't know what was happening to him.

Over the course of a few days, Peter discovered even more abilities. A buzzing sensation that warned him of impending danger. Acrobatic skills he never possessed before. The ability to stick to walls! As bright as he was, Peter was able to piece the puzzle together quite quickly. That spider, whatever it was, had changed Peter's DNA. It had made him stronger, faster, better!

Well, kids will be kids, and Peter did what any kid would do. He tried to exploit his new skills. Mind you, his intentions were pure. He wanted to earn money to help around the house. Bills were piling up, and though they'd never admit it, Peter knew that Uncle Ben and Aunt May needed help. Peter started wrestling, and he gave his proceeds to Uncle Ben and Aunt May - while keeping a little for himself.

Fate, it seems, had plans for the newly arrogant Peter Parker. The wrestling promoter was robbed at gunpoint. Peter could have done something - anything - to stop the robber. However, he simply didn't care. Why was it his problem? The wrestling promoter promptly fired Peter, which didn't sit too well. Peter went home angry. It didn't stay that way.

At home, Peter discovered that Uncle Ben had been shot and killed. Peter eavesdropped on the police radio and heard where the gunman was hiding. Peter knew what he wanted to do. He wanted revenge. Bloodthirsty and vengeful, Peter set out. To his horror, he soon learned that the gunman was the same robber he could have stopped.

Uncle Ben's timeless words rang out in Peter's head. "With great power comes great responsibility." Under this mantra, Peter promised he would right his wrongs. He would never shun his responsibility again. Taking on his wrestling name, Peter became the amazing Spider-Man.

List a few reasons why you have chosen that character: I love Spider-Man. I love everything about him. The everyman persona, the powerset, the supporting cast. There isn't a thing I don't love. He's a superhero with real world problems. He has to figure out how he's going to pay the rent (in his later years). He has to find time to study when he's not sparring with the Green Goblin or Doctor Octopus. He lies through his teeth to Aunt May and hates himself for it. He has serious self-confidence issues, and he has experienced more loss in his young life than many people deal with in a lifetime. Yet, most amazingly, through it all, he keeps a smile on his face and a quip on his tongue. Who wouldn't want to be like that?

What can you bring to this game?: As I hope this application shows, I am hopelessly passionate for the character of Spider-Man. I feel like I know him well enough that everything I do, I will do faithfully. I will be ashamed if I'm ever called out for doing something out-of-character for Spidey. That's how serious I am. I'm dependable, as I'm sure others can vouch, and I'm seriously trying to improve with every post.

Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech: Blue (for a change) Comic Sans MS for Peter/Blue bold Comic Sans MS for Spider-Man

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG:
I don't expect much more than once a day - just because it sometimes feels like overkill. Besides, I don't want to rush through my arcs. I want to take my time and make every post meaningful - rather than taking up space.

Please provide a sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 5 paragraphs long and contain at least 3 line of dialogue):

Mrs. Watson puts an arm around Aunt May, who's still sobbing uncontrollably. It's painful to watch. That's part of the reason I needed to step away. Seeing Aunt May like that, it just tears me apart. I mean, she's such a strong woman. She's been such a fixture in my life, through the good times and the bad. When it looked like the world was going to Hell in a handbasket, Aunt May was calm, cool, and level-headed. I admired her for that. I admired her for many things. Yet this is far beyond her. As strong as she may be, she cannot simply shrug this off. Who could I blame her?

I hover near the entrance to the kitchen, staring painfully at the floor. Cops are moving here and there, blocking my view. Even so, every so often an opening clears up, and I see it. That white chalk. I've seen chalk many times before. On blackboards, on sidewalks, everywhere. It never affected me before. Well, other than the occasional times when it has read, "POP QUIZ!" Still, it's just chalk. This time, however, it's not just chalk. My eyes trace the outline, and I find it hard to swallow as I realize what shape is made.

Uncle Ben.

If Aunt May was a fixture, Uncle Ben was the cornerstone. Even on the occasions when Aunt May went off the handle, Uncle Ben always managed to bring her back down. I don't think I've ever seen a couple more in love than those two. I sometimes feel guilty that I got in the way of their "happily ever after." I'm sure when they planned to settle down, they never planned to have to deal with a moody teenager.

They never complained. Not once. Not to my face, not behind my back. Never. Those two, they loved me more than they loved each other - which, if you knew them, means a lot. It never once felt awkward around them. It never felt out-of-place or forced. As far as anyone was concerned, I was their son. End of story. Don't take me wrong. I would give anything to have my real parents. I've spent many nights asking God why He took them from me. It's hard. It's hard to believe in a benevolent God when he does something like that to you. It's hard to believe there is good in this world.

That is, until I got to know Uncle Ben. He did everything for me. He put off retirement so I would have food, clothing, and shelter. And he was so stoic, so kind-hearted. Here he was, a man in his sixties, waking up at five in the morning to go off to work so he could support a child he never asked for. I hope that if I'm ever a father some day, I can be half the man Uncle Ben was.

Wow. I'm already talking like he's gone. I mean, I guess he is. God, it hurts so much.

Uncle Ben taught me to throw my first baseball. I never got too good at that, unfortunately. He took me for rides in his beloved convertible - back in its glory days. Over the past few years, it's been rusting in the garage. He sat and listened to me as I ran off at the mouth about some newest scientific discovery, and then he pretended to have some clue what I just said. Late some nights, when I was haunted by visions of my parents, he would sit downstairs on the couch with me, telling me stories about my father - his younger brother. I sometimes felt like I knew my father, just based on what Uncle Ben would tell me.

Now, he's gone. And I don't know why.

"Detective," one cop whispers to the other urgently, "We got a lead on the shooter." I perk up and listen, despite my better judgment. "He's holed up in one of those warehouses by the docks." Hey, I know where that is!

The other cop grits his teeth. "Dammit," he grumbles. "Those places are like fortresses. Without backup, he could stay in there long through the night. Did you call for SWAT?" The first cop nods. "Well, start praying, then. I can't stand to lose another one of these scumbags."

I rush upstairs into my bedroom. Closing the door, I sit on the bed, my legs folded in front of me. I bury my head in my knees. And, for the first time in the night, I begin to cry. I can't predict it, and I can't stop it. The tears come quickly and powerfully. Uncle Ben is gone. I repeat the words, hoping that the sick joke will be revealed. Hoping that Ashton Kutcher will burst through my bedroom door and reveal that it was all an illusion. Ashton never comes. Uncle Ben is gone.

Outside the window next to my bed, I hear the closing of car doors. The sound is then accompanied by the wailing of sirens that grows dimmer as the cars pull away. I watch as the cops quickly file out and head for the docks. I think of the conversation between the two policemen in my kitchen.

'Without backup, he could stay in there long through the night.'

I picture the gunman in an empty warehouse, laughing to himself as he polishes his gun. Outside, the police cars have assembled, but they are powerless. They cannot touch him. So the gunman laughs away, reveling in his victory. He waits out the night, and when the police search the building in the morning, he is long gone. Literally getting away with murder. The thought sickens me.

My eyes find my casually discarded backpack in the far corner of the room. A crazy thought crosses my mind. I quickly dispatch with it, but it keeps poking around in the back of my head. Finally motivated, I get up and grab my backpack, bringing it back to my bed. I throw open the zipper and pull out the backpack's contents. I admire the red and blue fabric in the moonlight for a moment.

It's my wrestling costume. I suppose I have no use for it now - what with getting fired and all. Might as well not let it go to waste. I open my bedroom door and check the hallway. All the policemen are gone. I can still hear Aunt May's sobs and Mrs. Watson's reassuring words. I'm in the clear. Closing the door, I remove my clothes and put on the costume in their place. It's gaudy and awful, but I'll be damned if it doesn't make me look good. I pull on my mask and open my window.

Then, another idea hits me. Stepping down from the window, I open my desk drawer. Buried strategically underneath old papers and folders is my newest invention. Unfortunately, I haven't field-tested it yet, but what better time than the present? I snap the small contraptions onto my wrist and pull the fabric of the costume over them. Holding my arm out the window, I apply pressure to the sensor in my palm with my middle and ring fingers. A translucent string spirals out into the night sky.

"Good. They work," I whisper to myself. After all, what's a spider without a web?

"One Universe" RPG SEASON IV SIGN-UP FORM

Screen Name: SenseiofCheese

Character you would like to play: Wally West / the Flash

Powers: Unaware that he has barely begun scratching the surface of what he can really do, young Wally West has the power to move at superhuman speeds.

Brief biography of the character's history: Spending his childhood as a sidekick to his uncle Barry Allen, the Flash, Wally's life was turned upside down when a falling out between the two caused him to give up his life of heroics. But when his uncle died to save the lives of millions, Wally decided to step up and carry on the legacy of the Flash.

List a few reasons why you have chosen that character: First off, I've rarely had as much fun writing a character as I do Wally. His powers, very physical, and personality cater to my strengths as a writer, I believe. Aside from that, I want to carry on my plans for Wally, many of which have been in the works for a very long time.

What can you bring to this game?: Barrels of superheroics, a dedicated player and a Scarlet Speedster.

Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech: Book Antiqua, bold, red.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: I'd say once every two or three days, but if I'm interacting with other characters, much more often.

Please provide a small sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 3 paragraphs long and contain at least 1 line of dialogue):

My name is Wally West.

He's been to prison twice, meaning that should he get arrested again, this time he'd go there for life.

I am the fastest man alive.

But even as he hears the police sirens wailing in the distance, coming closer with each passing second, he decides he doesn't care. He just wants the money. But the woman won't give him her purse.

And I'm finally comfortable with saying..

So he pulls the trigger. An explosion bursts out of the barrel of his gun. A miniature cloud of flames erupts, and out of that cloud sails a bullet at a deadly speed. The bullet flies through the air, threatening to mercilessly snuff out the life at the end of it's trail. But it doesn't get that far.

Snatched out of it's trajectory, mid-air, by a man.

I am the Flash.

"Is this yours?" the Flash taps the mugger on the shoulder, his hand outstretched and his palm open. In it lays the bullet, still smoking. "You should really watch were you put it, it could kill someone."

The man snarls in rage and swings a closed fist at the Scarlet Speedster. But he knows it won't do him any good. The Flash stifles a yawn as he vanished from the spot he was standing, only to appear, fractions of a second from simultaneously, behind him. Suddenly, the thugs' vision goes blurry, then black.

He'll wake up 43 minutes later in a holding cell.

Brief biography of the character's history: After being sent to look after her baby cousin, Kal-el, after he was sent to Earth. Her ship was knocked of course, however, and she was put into suspended animation for years. After being woken, and trained to hone her powers by Superman, she has become a hero in her own right.

List a few reasons why you have chosen that character: I enjoyed playing her last season, and maybe we can finally get some Teen Titan action?

What can you bring to this game?: A hot blonde alien

Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech: Arial Black

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: As much as needed

Please provide a sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 5 paragraphs long and contain at least 3 line of dialogue):

"Again," Kal-el commands as he tosses a huge chunck of Arctic ice into the air.

I instinctively fire beams of intese heat out of my eyes, turning it into a flying torrent of water. Before it hit's the ground, it is turned back into ice by a strong gust of icy breath.

I turn to my cousin and smile, "Any better?"

"Yes, you've improved greatly. You might even give me a run for my money soon," he replies with a wink. But his expression quickly changes from proud, to worried as he flies off towards the Fortress of Solitude.

I land next to him, and see a newscast being played on the main screen.

"We are here in Washington, where Lex Luthor is about to be inagurated the new President of the United States."

Ugh...that can't be good.

One Universe" RPG SEASON IV SIGN-UP FORM

Screen Name:
Byrd Man

Character you would like to play: Commissioner James "Jim" Gordon

Powers: None, but has a sharp detective mind and decent with guns.

Brief biography of the character's history:
Born in Chicago and a member of the Chicago PD, Jim Gordon was transfered and he and his wife moved to Gotham City shortly after the murder of the Wayne's. Being one of the few honest cops in a corrupt city, Jim slowly moved up the ranks. When the mysterious vigilante known as Batman came on the scene, he and Jim formed a secret alliance. Since the Batman's arrival, Jim has moved quickly up the ranks, all the way to police commissioner. In Season III. Jim and Harvey Dent took down Sal "The Boss" Maroni and almost had their justice, when Maroni scared Dent and warped him into the villian known as Two-Face.

Gotham Central

Still no signs of Two-Face, my former friend. He's somewhere in Gotham, I can feel it. His wife Gilda left town, not sure where. Poor girl, I don't blame her. Slowly, we're rounding up all of Two-Face's cronies. Kraven was arrested this morning, we pinched Cletus Kassidy two days ago.

So far, the new MCU has been going for a week. In that time, my detectives have a clearence rate of 95%. They're working themselves out of a job almost.....almost. That's the good thing about criminals, they always are giving us work.

I told them last week that the buck stops with us, but that's not always true. Sometimes things need to be taken care of without the red tape. Like this for instance, the Scarecrow has been out of Arkham for a month. He kidnapped the entire crew of WSGC, Gotham's biggest radio station. He's holding them hostage in the studio while he preaches his fear message.

I've got the SWAT team outisde the studio ready to go, but as soon as I do he'll gas the hostages. This is something that requires stealth, a one man operation.

That explains why I'm here on the roof of Gotham Central.

I've got a friend coming, he may be able to help me out.

Character you would like to play: Green Lantern Kyle Rayner

Powers: Energy-based constructs, flight, various other abilities

Brief biography of the character's history:
Kyle Rayner was a struggling-but-gifted freelance graphic artist. He lived and worked in Los Angeles initially, but recently moved to New York City. After Hal Jordan launched the last GL rings after the destruction of Oa, Rayner was found by one the last GL power rings, the powerful weapon wielded by each Green Lantern that allows them to conjure any form of matter or energy through sheer force of will. The ring's reasons for choosing Kyle to bear itself have never been made completely apparent, aside from Rayner having been in the right place at the right time.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1. He's a GL.

2. We need an active GL.

3. I already play a Marvel, so I want to play a DC now.

What can you bring to this game?:

Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech:
Green Trebuchet MS Bold

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG:
As many as possible

Please provide a small sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 3 paragraphs long and contain at least 1 line of dialogue):

Despite him thinking that he was the luckiest guy in his sector, it was what happened a few hours earlier that really gave him the idea that everything in his life was starting to come together, because Ganthet had summoned him to his chambers in the Attilinian palace with good news.

"You summoned me, Ganthet?"

"Yes. I have great news regarding the new Central Power battery. It is finished." Ganthet stated, his voice and expression as stoic as it ever was.

"Really? Does this finally mean we can find Hal?"

"No. Jordan no longer possesses a power ring, which means he still cannot be located as of now. But other Lanterns lost in when Galactus had destroyed Oa can be located, however..."

"Alright. Let's start ths baby up, then..."

With that Ganthet held out his palm and out of nowhere, Hal Jordan's ring had materialized from thin air, and in a shroud of emerald energy, it floated to the middle of the giant lantern, and once inside, a massive green light came through it and filled the room to Kyle's amazement and Ganthet's expectance...

power%20battery.bmp

"Cool..."

"There. It is complete... And as I expected, there are very few, but still a number of Power Ring signatures that are still active..."

* * *

After Crystal had taken her leave back to Attilan, Kyle was truly happy. He was with a woman who he truly loved, and loved him back. He was yet another big step closer to helping Ganthet rebuild the Green Lantern Corps. and he was going to move to Los Angeles to help boost his career.

What could go wrong? he thought... until his cell phine began to ring...

BRIIING!! BRRRIIIIIIINNNGG!!!

"Hello..." he answered.

"Yes. Is this Kyle Rayner?"

"Yes. Who is this?"

"Who I am is not important. But who you are on the other hand is..."

"What are you talking about?" Kyle asked, worried it could be about his costumed identity.

"I know you are actually the Green Lantern, and that you parade New York fighting villains from outer space..."

"What!? I don't know what you're talking about... Who is this!?!" Kyle asked alarmed that his suspicions were correct. This was definately quite the predicament that someone knows his secret, and if people found out, it would not be good for him. And his day was going out so well...

"My name is Amanda Waller, and I'm calling with the chance to tell you that I'm putting together a team of the world's mightiest heroes to help make the world a safer place. A team that can take on threats that no single hero can face alone..."

"A... team?"

"Yes. Kyle Rayner, Green Lantern, how would you like to take part in the Avenger Initiative?"

As it turned out, the day still turned out to be a good day for Kyle Rayner, the Last Green Lantern...

Character you would like to play: Tony Stark, the Invincible Iron Man.

Powers: Through a powerful suit of exo-skeletal armor utilizing his repulsor technology, Tony Stark's suit grants him the abilities of flight, increased strength, and powerful repulsor energy blasts.

Brief biography of the character's history: After being the victim of a brutal missile attack, resulting in many shards of shrapnel being lodged into his heart, Tony Stark became a prisoner, forced to build weapons for the terrorists that held him captive, until he built a device that managed to keep the shrapnel from reaching his heart, and with it, an extraordinary suit of armor that he used to escape imprisonment and begin his superhero career as the Invincible Iron Man.

List a few reasons why you have chosen that character: Iron Man is hands down one of my favorite Marvel superheroes, and I have waited for the oppurtunity to portray him since I've joined this community, and now might be my chance.

What can you bring to this game?: I was hoping I could bring a darn good Tony Stark.

Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech: Red Arial Bold for Tony, Red System for Iron Man

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: As many as possible

Please provide a sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 5 paragraphs long and contain at least 3 line of dialogue):

"Tony... If your hearing this, then I've already left..." the message in Tony Stark's voicemail inbox started to play while he sat in the chair in his office at Stark Towers.

"I've decided that I'm not going to wait for you any longer... I've met someone, and even though I was going to wait for you to put a stop to your drinking, I can't anymore. I love him... and I'm taking time off from the League to be with him. I'm sorry..."

"End of message..."

Tony didn't say a word. All this time wasted he thought, and for what? I stop drinking for her, and she's leaving me anyways... Way to go, Tony. Way to go...

But I guess it was inevitable he figured. I mean, I almost just had a relapse as it is. What with Fury highjaking my Human Torch android, and my near quitting the League. I was just about ready to open that bottle up and chug it down whole. Who says it wouldn't have happened after me and Dinah got back together?

Tony sighed as he leaned back in his chair. Trying to hold back the tears... Because whether or not it was meant to be between him and Dinah Lance, it still hurt him... Deep down.

"Sir..." Edwin Jarvis interrupted, after entering his employers office.

"What is it, Jarvis?" Tony Stark replied, still focusing his eyes on the records handed to him from his faithful secretary of his latest sales.

"There's a phonecall on line-one from a Miss Virginia Potts for you, sir."

"Thank you, Jarvis."

Tony sighed before he pressed the button on his telephone that sat patiently on his desk, and bringing the reciever to his ear.

"Mr. Stark?"

"Yes, Pepper?"

"I just recieved a phonecall from a Whitney Frost regarding a proposition she wanted to run by you. Should I arrange a meeting?"

"Sir..." Jarvis interrupted again.

"Hold on a sec, Pep..." Tony asked, covering the mouthpiece with his hand. "What now, Jarvis?"

Jarvis simply pointed to the wall-sized window behind Tony, and Tony turned around in his chair to see a small explosion down below, and a man with a red and silver suit of armor, similar to his own, nearby. Tony quickly removed his hand from the mouthpiece in haste...

"Pepper? You still there?"

"Yes, Tony."

"Good. Tell this Whitney person that I'm available Friday, and while you're at it, cancel all meetings for the next couple hours. Someone apparently needs an ass-kicking..."

"Yes, Mr. Stark." she finished, hanging up on her end, before Tony did the same.

"Jarvis..."

"Yes, Mr. Stark?"

"Prepare the suit." Tony stated, getting up from his desk.

"Yes, sir. Anything else, sir?"

"Yeah..." Tony said, pulling a secret lever on his office wall, revealing the entrance to his Iron Man lab.

"Get me a scotch. Something tells me I'm gonna need it..." Tony Stark asked his faithful butler, figuring that there was no more reason to stay sober.

Despite his heart being broken and shattered, there was still a job to do, and Tony Stark knew it would be a job for the Invincible Iron Man.

Character you would like to play: Clark Kent (Superman)

Powers: As a kryptonian, once he's absorbed the rays of a yellow sun, he gains the powers of flight, near complete invulnerability, enhanced senses and lung capacity, and immeasurable strength that can move planets.

Brief biography of the character's history: Clark Kent was your average farm boy from Smallville, Kansas. That was, until he found out he was adopted...

You see, Clark is not of this world. He's actually from a planet lightyears away. A planet called Krypton. His father was a brilliant Kryptonian scientist named Jor-El. He lived with his wife and newborn son, Kal-El, in peace, until Galactus attacked. He destroyed all of Krypton and every single inhabitant on it, except young Kal-El, whom of which Jor-El had sent in a ship towards a much safer planet. Earth.

Some time later, the spaceship had crashed in a cornfield during a meteor shower in Smallville. A cornfield owned by Jonathon and Martha Kent....

Upon investigation of what they thought to be a meteor, Jonathon and Martha found that it wasn't a meteor, but the ship from Krypton, with baby Kal-El inside. They had opened it, and once the baby Kryptonian was held in their arms, they decided to raise him as thir own, and even giving him the human name of Clark.

Since then, Clark has now become a mild-mannered grown man, and a reporter for the prestigious Daily Planet in the city of Metropolis. Of course, what people don't know, is that when Metropolis is in peril, Clark secretly uses his Kryptonian abilities, and morals of truth, justice and the american way to defend the city as the Man of Steel....Superman.

List a few reasons why you have chosen that character: Superman is THE greatest comic book superhero in history! And to play him would be an honor. A privelage that I wish to uphold. Not only because it would let me play one of the greatest superheroes in comics, but to finally show my skills as an RPer. I want to show this community that I can be capable to play a first-tier character, and that I'm no longer the idiot who didn't even know what a sample post was. I want to show everyone that I can play Superman.

What can you bring to this game?: I can bring frequent posting, and definate enthusiasm. Superman-wise, I'll post as him as best as I can. I feel like as each day passes by, my writing quality grows, and I want to put it to the test so I can be hopefully become close to the best of our Superman players in our community.

Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech: Blue Verdana Bold.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: I definately plan on posting alot per season. Hopefully maybe almost everyday.

Please provide a sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 5 paragraphs long and contain at least 3 line of dialogue):

"KENT!! My office! NOW!"

The loud bellows of Perry White had brought all eyes on to the reporter he summoned, who timidly sat at his desk typing, and pushing up his glasses when he stood up.

That reporter was none other than Clark Kent. The guy everyone doesn't notice. The guy trying to make ends meet. The guy who'll never get the girl. The guy who's about to be yelled at by his boss...

"Y-you...wanted to see me, sir?" Clark asked after sticking his head through the doorway.

"Yes, Clark. Have a seat."

Clark fixed his glasses and took a seat in fromt of Perry's desk, twiddling his thumbs to relieve his tension.

"Kent, I need you to go to STAR Labs and cover the unveiling of the meteorite they found in Utah last week..." Perry ordered, showing clark the headline in yesterday's paper mentioning the event in question.

"But, sir. I don't know if I can cover an event like tha--"

"Kent, stop being such a pansy!" Perry yelled. Clark immediately pursed his lips shut.

"Now listen to me. I don't tell anybody this too often, but you're one of the finest reporters I've got on the paper. Your stories, Kent. The ones you just did about the Magneto attacks... They're amazing! You describe them with such detail... it's like you were actually there."

Clark looked down to the floor in embarrassment.

If you only knew, Perry...

But before he could continue listening to Perry, something was ringing in his ear. A faint sound. But it wasn't coming from the room. No. It was coming from elsewhere. So Clark concentrated, and he concentrated hard, so that he could make out the noises and piece them together...

*BOOM!*

"HEEEELP!!"

"SOMEBODY SAVE US!!"

"SUPERMAN!!!!"

But then Clark's attention soon turned back to Perry, so that he can end the conversation as quickly as possible and find out who's attcking the city.

"So what do you say, Kent? Are you gonna do it or am I gonna give it to Lane?"

"I'll cover the story, Perry. You have my word. As a matter of fact, I've got to run home to get ready. I'll see you tomorrow!" Clark responded as he rushed out of the door.

"I expect that story on my desk tomorrow morning, Kent! NO EXCUSES!!!" Perry shouted from his office at the powerwalking reporter.

"You got it, Perry!" He yelled back, heading for the elevator. He started walking faster and faster, even runing a few small steps, passing by all his colleagues.

"Whoah there, Smallville! What's the rush?" The elegant Lois Lane had inquired as the nearly running Clark sped by her.

"Emergency. You know how it is, Lois..." He said taking those final steps towards the elevator before pressing the button and walking inside. As the doors closed, the last thing he saw in the Daily Planet office was Lois getting up from her desk and looking at Clark in the elevator.

Now. This looks like a job for the Man of Steel...

Just as the doors completely shut, and Clark could feel the elevator going down, he took off his glasses pulled off his shirt to reveal the big red "S".

300473-109153-superman_super.jpg

In a matter of milliseconds, the mild-mannered reporter had finished shedding his clothes to become the Man of Steel.

The doors of the elevator had opened once it came to a stop, but when they staff looked in, there was no one inside. Because before the doors completely opened, Clark, using his superspeed, had ran outside and took off into the skies. Faster than a speeding bullet towards the origin of the commotion...

As Clark navigated his way through the skyline, the citizens below began to take notice of their icon, and began to cheer.

"Look everyone! Up in the sky!"

"What is it? Is it a bird?"

"I think it's a plane."

"No, it's... It's..."

The Man of Steel smiled as he knew what he was going to say. He was all too familiar with that line...

"It's me. Superman..."

Screen Name: Catman_prb

Character you would like to play: Jamie Madrox

Powers: Power to duplicate himself by use of any type of energy. This is restricted by the suit built for him by Moira McTaggert.

Brief biography of the character's history: Jamie grew up in one of the rougher areas of London. He was orphaned at three, and sent to live in a care home. There he was adopted by Dr. Moira McTaggert, at the age of 16. Also around this time, he became increasingly ill. McTaggert ran some tests herself, and found that Jamie's X-Gene was activating. Within a few days, he was creating duplicates against his will, through converting energy. Eventually Moira managed to create a device that allowed Jamie to control his power by thought, although large energy input will overide the device. After her colleague Charles Xavier opened his school, Moira decided it would be better for Jamie to be around children like himself and sent him over.

List a few reasons why you have chosen that character:
He's salvaged from the Westchester RPG, which never really took off.
It's my interpretation of an age-old character.
He seems a workable character for my annual attempt to stay in this game.

What can you bring to this game?: A player, which is always good.

Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech: Arial Dark Red

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: As many as I need to.

Please provide a sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 5 paragraphs long and contain at least 3 line of dialogue):
Jamie pressed his head back against the chair in some kind of mute frustration. The flight from Gatwick to New York took around 7 hours and 45 minutes. He had spent 45 of those minutes, starting, reading and finishing the book he had brought with him for the journey. He had tried to fall asleep but the feel of being on a plane had kept him awake. The person sitting next to him seemed to be some kind of generic, over-weight New York businessman whose only purpose in life was to take up two seats.

The plane finally set down at some New York airport that Jamie immediately forgot. He grabbed his luggage bag and the battered guitar case, moving through customs as quickly as he possibly could. When he finally made it out of the throng of people there was a well built man with red shades on standing lazily by the gate with the name 'Madrox' written on a piece of card. Jamie walked over to him self-consciously, reasoning that there weren't likely to be any other Madrox's around.

"Er, hi?" he said, rather hesitantly. The man's attention immediately head immediately snapped round, focusing on him. Jamie was almost as tall as him, probably due to him being the largest 17 year old that he had ever met.

"Jamie?" he asked. Jamie shrugged. The man looked like he was expecting someone else.

"I'm Scott," Scott said.

"Nice shades," Jamie said, a wry smile upon his lips. Scott raised an eyebrow and gestured towards the exit.

"The car's out back,"

Because, it's "unfair" to approve yourself. :cmad:

Also, I'm deciding if I should drop Cap or DD. What I have planned with Gordon and MCU will be like playing another character.

And it better not be DD. You can't give that guy a GL ring, and then just drop him. :cmad:

Since I've decided to only play this game, and since it's summer, I'm gonna pick up a third. Especially because I feel he's been underused so far.

"One Universe" RPG SEASON IV SIGN-UP FORM

Screen Name: Carnage27

Character you would like to play: Eddie Brock/Venom

Powers: None as Edward Brock, but after he bonded with the symbiote, Brock received super strength, agility, and reflexes. He also gained the ability to adhere to walls, and to fire tendrils much like Spider-man's webs.

The suit also gives Brock the ability to withstand physical injury, and gives him an enhanced healing factor.

Brief biography of the character's history: Brock was an up and coming photographer with the Daily Bugle, until he was embarrassed and shown to be a fraud by Peter Parker. After that, Brock claimed Parker to be his mortal enemy, and swore revenge on the teen.

Little did Eddie know that Peter was actually Spider-man...until he came in contact with a strange alien symbiote that had previously bonded with Parker. The symbiote transformed Brock into the fearsome being known as Venom, and gave the man his opportunity for revenge he desired so.

List a few reasons why you have chosen that character: I've always loved Venom and Carnage, and the Symbiote Saga has really lagged. I would also like to work with EB.

What can you bring to this game?: A decent RPer with plenty of time on his hands.

Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech: Comic Sans unbolded for Eddie/Bolded for Venom

As he walked down the crowded New York City street, he could feel the hunger overtake him. The unsashiable, screaming in the back of his head that the creature wanted out. That it needed to feed.

Not now.

Yes. Now. We are hungry. We must feed.

The man stops infront of a store with TVs in the store front, one blaring the evening news.

"Fallout continues from this past month's mutant uprising, with Congress planning a proposed mutant registration act, which could also extend it's reach to all parts of the meta-human community."

He couldn't help but chuckle to himself. The thought of Parker having to unmask in public, and then having those he wrong descend upon him like a pack of starving vultures.

No, he is ours.

Yes, yes he is...

Eddie Brock, no, Venom, was ready to make Spider-man's life a living hell. And it would start tonight.

"One Universe" RPG SEASON III SIGN-UP FORM

Screen Name: Keyser Soze

Character you would like to play: Thor

Powers:
As an Asgardian, Thor is granted with the powers inherent in his race. He has superhuman strength, and is considered the most powerful even amongst the Asgardians. He is highly resistant to injury, immune to all diseases, and ages so slowly that by human standards he would be considered immortal. But Thor’s inherent powers are enhanced greatly by his magic hammer, Mjilnor. Armed with Mjilnor, Thor has power over the storms of the sky, able to create, control and direct thunder and lightning. With his hammer, he is also granted the powers of flight and teleportation. In battle, Mjilnor can be used as a deadly projectile – it can penetrate almost any barrier, and always returns to Thor’s hand – or it can emit devastating blasts of energy.

Brief biography of the character's history:
The Asgardians are an ancient race of highly-powered cosmic beings, who many centuries ago discovered the mortal realm of Earth, which they named Midgard. Odin, king of Asgard, saw it as Asgard’s duty to protect and preserve Midgard and its denizens, and so they became involved in mortal affairs. For a time, they were worshipped by some on Earth as Gods. Most highly regarded was Thor, son of Odin, and the greatest warrior in all of Asgard.

But time passed, the word changed, and the Asgardians withdrew once more to their own realm. After centuries isolated from Midgard, Thor grew arrogant and conceited. In order to restore his son’s sense of heroism, Odin sent Thor to Midgard, where he would live in the mortal guise of Dr. Donald Blake, and learn humanity from the mortals around him.

As Donald Blake, Thor has learned just that. He knows what it is to love, to heal and – due to Blake’s lame leg – he knows for the first time what it is to be weak. To be human. As Thor, it has become his mission to serve and protect the mortals of Midgard, to be a hero in a world in dire need of them.

List a few reasons why you have chosen that character:
I’ve recently got into the world of Thor, through JMS’ excellent current run on the title. Having tried my hand at playing Loki, and finding myself greatly enjoying it, I thought I’d like to give Thor a shot too. I really enjoyed bkhedr’s work with Thor last season, it was partly what encouraged me to give the Thor comics a shot in the first place. With last season, my focus was mainly on wrapping up bkhedr's storyline. But now, I have the chance to cut loose, and start building up my own Thor story.

What can you bring to this game?:
A shiny helmet with wings on it!

Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech:
Bold Antiqua font, Dark Slate Gray color, size 3

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG:
Depends on what’s going on. If there’s something to respond to, I will try to do so quickly.

Please provide a sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 5 paragraphs long and contain at least 3 line of dialogue):

It’s a beautiful, sunny day in New York City. The clear skies and welcoming warmth – something of a rarity at this time of year – have drawn the people of Manhattan out of their apartments and their offices. The streets of Fifth Avenue and Broadway are filled with shoppers and diners, and families flock to Central Park. It is a city buzzing with life, a hub of activity and a beacon of humanity. For many, this makes New York a prime target.

The bright sun was obscured by some passing cloud. In Central Park, some couples lying out on the grass together let out a sigh of disappointment, the sudden chill detracting from a romantic moment. But few were worried, as they assumed the cloud would soon move on, and the sun would return.

There is an ancient, incredibly powerful being named Seth. Amongst cultures long since vanished from our world, he was known as the Serpent God of Death. But though his presence has diminished in the millennia that have past, his power and his malicious intent have not. Seth is a being obsessed with bringing order to what he deems the chaos of life, an order that can only be achieved through dominion and death. His obsession with order brought Seth into conflict with Odin, King of Asgard, in a battle that resulted in the loss of Seth’s hand. This is a defeat Seth has never forgotten, one he has spent centuries upon centuries plotting revenge for. Revenge he has now come close to finally achieving, striking at Odin through his favorite son.

In Times Square, busy, rushing pedestrians are now stopping, and looking up at the sky. Those clouds have not moved on. Instead, the clouds have gathered into a thick, grey mass, looming ominously overhead, and turning what was a bright afternoon mere minutes before into a dark, heavy gloom.

“Looks like a storm’s comin’,” one elderly man says to no one in particular.

With his son in his clutches, Seth expected Odin to descend from his throne in Asgard, and engage him in battle on Earth once more. But Odin did nothing. Seth could have done what he originally intended – sever the son’s hand as his own hand had been severed, and then kill him. But he realized there were more enduring ways to hurt Odin. And so with the poison of his enchanted sickle, Seth took control of the mind of Odin’s weakened son. And now the one Odin loves most will be used as a weapon against those Odin has sworn to protect. If Odin would not intervene to save his son, would he intervene to stop him?

Many across Manhattan let out a gasp of surprise as a crack of lightning lights up the darkened sky, not in the distance, but circuiting across right over their heads. Then the thunder comes, rumbling low, then building up in a steady crescendo to a deafening boom. Now people begin to be frightened. This is most unusual to them, most unnatural. It had been a bright, sunny day in New York City. Now they were in the eye of a storm.

The rain begins to pour in torrents, hitting hard and heavy, accompanied by stinging winds. Then, just as the hordes of New Yorkers begin their frenzied rush back to the shelter of the indoors, the clouds part, and a figure descends. Many onlookers would describe the figure as a hulking man close to 7 feet in height, but this is no man. They would also remark that he is dressed like a Viking, when the more accurate assessment would be that the Vikings dressed like him. Clad in chainmail armor and a regal winged helmet, he looks like a warrior prepared for battle, or perhaps even a massacre.

His red cape billows in the wind, but that aside the warrior seems untouched by the storm around him. And it is very much around him, the rain seeming to swirl in circles around his descending form, and crackles of lightning fizzing from the short-handled metal hammer gripped in his hand. This hammer is called Mjolnir, and it is a weapon more devastating than any known to man.

It might as well be night. The skies above are black, and the sunny afternoon is already a distant memory. Despite the rain beating them down, some onlookers remain outside, staring stupidly at the storm bringer as he hovers mere feet above the ground. Some film the event with their camera phones. The warrior looks around, expression blank and eyes dead, assessing his surroundings. He has landed in Times Square. He points Mjolnir upward, in the direction of one of the massive video screens overhead. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning shoots down out of the sky, and connects squarely with the screen, which explodes in a shower of falling glass and metal.

Now the screaming begins. Now people begin to run, blinded as much by panic as the rain whipping into their eyes. Drawing his trunk-like arm back, the warrior grips onto the strap at the end of Mjolnir, and swings the hammer, faster and faster. Then he throws it at a building, one of the many large, multi-floor megastores in this area. The stone wall is pulverized, and as the hammer returns to his hand, more debris plummets into the street below.

This is Seth’s weapon. This is the son of Odin.

This is the mighty Thor.

Character you would like to play: Two-Face

Powers:
None.

Brief biography of the character's history:
After a childhood of abuse at the hands of his brutal father, Harvey Dent escaped Gotham and built a new life for himself working for the District Attorney's office in New York City, along with his beloved wife Gilda. But Harvey found himself drawn back to Gotham City, where circumstances led to him being appointed as the city's new District Attorney. Forming an alliance with Jim Gordon, Gotham's new Police Commissioner, and Batman, the city's mysterious masked protector, Harvey vowed to bring the Falcone and Maroni crime families to justice, and free Gotham from the grip of organised crime.

It was a mission fraught with setbacks and heartbreak. An attempt on Dent's life left Gilda in a coma. Time after time, Maroni slipped out of prosecution, and as time went by, a bitter personal feud grew between Dent and Maroni. Eventually, Maroni was caught, and agreed to testify against Falcone. Harvey Dent's dreams of a new era in Gotham were close to becoming a reality. But as Maroni stood trial, he threw a bottle of acid in Dent's face, destroying his life forever.

Horribly disfigured, Harvey Dent was further horrified to discover Maroni was going to get away with what he'd done, due to a legal technicality. Pushed too far, Harvey Dent became the murderous criminal Two-Face. He hunted down and killed Maroni, then had the rest of Gotham's crime dynasty wiped out over one bloody night. Stepping into the power vacuum, Two-Face became the undisputed head of organised crime in Gotham. Harvey Dent had turned into the very monster he had vowed to fight against.

List a few reasons why you have chosen that character:
I almost didn't. After investing so much time in telling my long-running storyline that spanned across Seasons 2 and 3, I thought there was nowhere else to go with the character that would not feel like an anti-climax. Season 3 was going to be my curtain-call with Dent, but a few posters convinced me to stick with him for now. After playing as Harvey Dent for so long, it might be fun settling into the role of Two-Face.

What can you bring to this game?:
Experience, and the continuation of this long-running Harvey Dent saga.

Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech:

I'm finished.

I stand in the penthouse apartment in a recently-constructed high rise building, the apartments inside not yet on the public market. One of several properties peppered throughout the city that my newly-made contacts have enabled me to acquire. The police is looking for me, I know that. Gordon's new MCU is heading the hunt. But I'm not hiding. I'm right here, in the heart of Gotham, looking out my window at the city festering below.

Gotham City is a monster. It eats people up, good people, and spits them out. It drains all the good right out of you. It seems like an eternity ago now, when that plane took me from New York into Gotham for that mutant benefit. I should never have come back here, it was hard enough escaping the first time round. It's like... it's like this city doesn't want to let any of its souls go. You work hard, try to be a better person, try and get the hell out... and it's like the city rises up to drag you back down to the gutter, back down to it's level.

But not only did I come back, I stayed. Because in spite of it all, I was in the thrall of the cruelest of human conditions. Hope. I had hope for a better Gotham. I believed in this city. And crazy as it might be, a part of me still does. There are good people here, people like Jim Gordon, people like Batman. It is possible to save this city from itself, I was so close to doing it. So close...

Now look at me. I've lost everything. I've lost my face. I've lost my reputation. I've lost my wife. I've lost my moral compass. I... I crossed a line when I killed Maroni. When I killed for the first time, when I became a murderer, it's like something broke inside me, something I can never fix. And from there, I feel like I've left nothing but corpses in my wake.

What have I done? What have I become? The monster that is Gotham City has made a monster out of me. When I unleashed a side of myself that I'd kept buried for decades, when I... when I let Two-Face out of the basement, that was it for me. I had no choice. I needed... I need to save Gotham City, and Maroni showed me I could never do that through the impotent legal system. I had to end it. I had to end it! I had to end it, but I couldn't. Only Two-Face could, his way.

I thought that, once I wiped out Gotham's organised crime infrastructure, I would free the city from the malevolent force that has been suffocating it for generations, that finally I would see a light at the end of the tunnel. I thought it would be over. But more and more, I see that's not the case. Gordon saw it too. It never ends. It will never be over. Crime and corruption is too entrenched in Gotham to ever be fully purged, it's in the foundations. You scew with the foundations, and you risk the whole deck of cards coming toppling down. That's what almost happened, without the gang leaders. Anarchy, chaos on the streets. There always has to be someone in charge, someone ruling the criminal underworld. There always has to be someone...

I am in blood stepp'd in so far, that should I wade no more, returning would be as tedious as go o'er.

I don't think I really got Shakespeare when I was a kid. But now I know what Macbeth was going through. I know how it feels to compromise yourself, to step over the line and get blood on your hands, and all of a sudden find yourself king. What do you do then? Confess your crimes to make yourself feel better, and let the kingdom you sacrificed so much to get go to hell? No, you keep on going, wading deeper and deeper into that pool of blood you're making for yourself, voyaging deeper and deeper into damnation to preserve an idea, to keep that shred of hope that you can make things better alive.

Two-Face is a golem, I can see that now. I let him out of his box to fix things, but now I'm stuck with him. Because I need to be that someone. I need to be king, so I can make things better. I'm Maroni now, I'm Falcone. But I'm not. I can be better than them, I can use their power the right way, to try and save Gotham. That's still all I want to do. Now it's the only thing I have left. Gotham City.

My home.
My burden.

"One Universe" RPG SEASON IV SIGN-UP FORM

Screen Name:
Eddie Brock

Character you would like to play: Dr. Reed Richards
/ Mr. Fantastic

Powers:
Reed's name is frequently used in the debate over who the smartest man on the planet is. That said, he lacks any sense of "street smarts." As a result of his accident, Reed's entire body is elastic. He can stretch, flatten out, alter his shape and size, and all the other attributes associated with rubber.

Brief biography of the character's history:
Reed was a child prodigy. He spent his childhood with his nose in the books. Despite this, he became close friends with Benjamin Grimm, who represented everything Reed wasn't. Reed had an on-again-off-again relationship with Susan Storm, a colleague of his. In an experiment in space, Reed, Ben, Sue, and Sue's younger brother, Johnny, were exposed to radiation. It gave them magnificent traits, and they quickly became known as the Fantastic Four - with Reed at the helm as Mr. Fantastic.

List a few reasons why you have chosen that character:
Too often, the Fantastic Four fall by the wayside. However, I've found playing one of them to be a win-win situation. If I'm by myself, I have a lot of fun NPCing Marvel's First Family. If others join me, I get to have constant interaction and interplay. Where can you go wrong?

What can you bring to this game?:
Hopefully, some semblance of being smarter than I am so that Reed is as intelligent as he's supposed to be. Other than that, reliability and fun stories.

Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech:
Bold Blue Arial Narrow

It's 8:23 on a Saturday morning. My alarm clock, however, is run 43 seconds slow. I have to remind myself to fix that one of these days. Maybe I should just take Sue's advice and write it down somewhere, but knowing myself the way I do, I know that I'd lose the note. Besides, I have more important things on my mind than my lagging alarm clock. It's probably just a result of the Earth's unsymmetrical rotation, anyway.

My feet slide out of bed, finding my slippers where I left them the night before. My right arm reaches across the bed and fumbles for a bit before knocking my glasses off the nightstand onto the floor. I groan and reach further until I feel the wiry frames between my fingers. I sit up in bed and put my glasses on. The sun is shining through the window, and this place still has that "new apartment" smell to it. All that said, I miss the Baxter Building. Unfortunately, it was a casualty of Magneto's attack. Repairs of that magnitude may take months - even years. Luckily, I had a backup plan.

Four Freedoms Plaza. It's slightly smaller and less glamorous than the Baxter, but it'll do. I've kept copies of all my work here, in the event that the Baxter should be destroyed. After all, there are plenty of people who would like to see the Fantastic Four dead. It never hurts to be careful. However, I had quite the interesting time trying to explain to Sue why I would have bought this place and never mentioned it before. I never saw a reason to.

"HAHAHAHAHAHA!"

"Laugh it up, Pebbles."

I sigh. Ben and Johnny are fighting this early in the morning? On a Saturday? Is nothing sacred? As I make my way to the kitchen, I pass Sue's room. She's beginning to stir. She must have heard their voices as well. I continue onwards, my slippers trailing along the floor lazily.

"No need to be jealous because you have Rock Pattern Baldness," Johnny continues spitefully. He's digging through the cabinet, pushing aside boxes in search of his sugary cereal. Ben is seated at the table, wiping away a tear from his rocky cheek. "What do you think, Reed?" Johnny asks as he emerges from the cabinet. My eyes instantly fall upon the focus of Ben's entertainment.

"You...grew a beard?" I reply tentatively. I'm not entirely sure what to say. It's such an...unexpected choice. I'm not sure how I feel about it, to be honest. It's...different. That's for sure.

Johnny rolls his eyes. "It's a goatee, and it's hot," Johnny insists. He pours himself a bowl of cereal. "I'll have you both know, the ladies love this." He rubs the blond patch of hair on his chin.

"It looks like a small animal died on your face!" Ben laughs. He tips back one of the large, metal cups I designed for him. For obvious reasons, he can't have a normal glass. We learned that the hard way.

Johnny shoots Ben a look as Sue enters. She merely rubs her eyes and announces, "Good God, Johnny. What did you do?"

"One Universe" RPG SEASON III SIGN-UP FORM

Screen Name:
Matt Murdock

Character you would like to play: The Joker

Powers:
None. However, the Joker has a virtual arsenal of crazy-tastic guns, weapons, and other little 'toys.'

Let's face it, I'm probably going to make his tools up as I go.

Brief biography of the character's history: Well, not a lot is known about the Joker. He's a sadistic murderer with an obsession with Batman. He doesn't have a backstory, he doesn't have an origin. He just is.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1. A while back, I had a massive IC fight with Karem as Daredevil. I'd like to try it from the other side this time.

2. Last season was my first round as the Joker, and I honestly feel like I stepped up and really made the character my own. I have every intent of centralizing the Clown Prince this season and telling his story as best as I can.

3.

"Look, buddy." He reasons, "Just let me out in the parking lot of the stadium, and I'll pretend that none of this ever happened. I'll go about my business. I'll forget about the concert, the guns, hell, even my old boy you shot back in the warehouse."

I stare at him for a moment. He wants out? Fine! Better a goon on the outside than a rat on the inside.

"Stop the van!"A declaration. "We've got a deserter."The brakes scream to a halt and the car lurches forward, then rocks backward. I slide the door open and gesture outwards.

"Get."The goon obeys, and sprints off into the parking lot.

"Oh, dammit, almost forgot." I mutter under my breath, pulling a wad of cash out from my coat. "Goony-poo!" I cry as I heave myself out of the cloth-appointed van and onto the cold pavement. "Don't forget your severance package!" He steps slowly towards me and snatches the money from out of my grasp.

"I trust I can count on your silence and cooperation?" I mutter, waving my eyebrow. Surely, after I've given him ten grand in cash, he won't betray me, right?

Right?

...He won't will he?

"O...of course." He affirms.

"Well, good!"I say patting his shoulder."If I had drinks, I'd cry for them to be handed around. But I don't. So I won't."

In an offering of peace, I extend a gloved hand his way.

"It was a pleasure working with you. Put 'er there!"

BZZZZZZT!

His fried and electrocuted carcass falls to the ground, still clutching the singed cash.

"There's the punchline."It's a short drive to the maintenance entrance for the stadium, and the music is still blaring.

Bags of guns in hand, my crew and I pile our way out of the van and towards the service entrance, just behind the stage.

We try to barge past the security guard, but he brushes us off with ease.

"Nobody in or out." He snaps.

"I'm part of the goddamned act, you fool!"I shout, pointing to my face. "We missed soundchecks because of the f**king traffic. Get us in there so we can set up."He looks down at me and quietly moves aside. Even if I am a derranged fan, what harm could I do, right? Right.

"Good thinking, boss." A goon says. I don't much care about his name.

"If it can work for Christian Bale, it can work for me!" I respond, alluding to the film The Prestige.

We soon make our way to the backstage area, and start unloading guns. I take a small revolver, the only firearm I find comfortable in my grasp.

"You three, go secure the exits."I tell the remaining goons. They nod, forcing clips into guns and bullets into chambers. "Take out any security you find along the way. Make sure the gates to the stadium are locked down tight. I don't want anyone getting out."

"What about in?"

I sigh angrily.

"Did I say 'in?' No, r-tard. I said 'out'. This place oughta be like a womb the second after fertilization. Locked down, a vault. Hell, make it goddamned Arkham for all I care. Just shut the gates!"

"What then?"

"Go to the announcement booth. It's by the main offices. Tell the man manning the spotlight that people suck."

"Just that? Just 'people suck?'"

I stare at the goon sternly for a moment.

"Is that what I said?"

"Yeah."

What is it with these guys? Did I go to the bar for the mentally disenfranchised? My word. Note to self: go to hangouts with fully illuminated neon signs next time.

"Then that's what I meant. It's his signal to start streaming the video feed from the cameras to all live-broadcast news stations. Now, go."

"For some reason I can't explain,
I know Saint Peter won't call my name!
Never an honest word.
But that was when I ruled the world."

The lead singer of the band finishes singing as I check my revolver backstage. Go time.

"Thanks, everybody! Okay." He declares into the microphone as the crowd roars.

The band takes a bow and, from the side of the stage, I quietly emerge, clapping my hands slowly.

Clap. Clap. Clap. Clap. Clap.

"My word."I say, snatching a microphone mounted on the drumset. The audience boos and hisses as I walk cavortedly about the stage. "You boys..."I brandish my gun at the lead singer, a man who, apparently, thinks it's a good thing to dress like a homeless man."You boys really are something. Congratulations for, well, uh..." I point the gun at the audience. "All of this. They really seem to like you."At this the crowd roars, of course. They don't seem to realize just how real this situation is. The band gets it, though. They're all terrified.

"How would one of you lucky folks like to meet this guy!" I cry, sprinting over to the singer and burying my gun on the side of his face. The audience eats it up. "Well ain't this just your lucky day, then?!"I grab the singer and drag him down to the floor-level, brushing past security. They either realize that I'll blow his head off if they come near us, or they think I'm just a jester in their court.

"You."I say, nodding at a cameraman."Follow us! We're about to make a dream come true."

"Let me go."
The singer commands. Too bad I'm not a roadie. That would've been like a directive from God if I were.

One screaming young teenage girl in the front row (quite jailbait-y) screams her head off as I drag the band member towards her.

"Pick me, pick me!" She cries.

See, this is why people often find themselves in over their heads. They never know just what they're signing up for.

"We have a winner!"I say into the microphone, glaring at the camera. "Go on, singer, go shake her hand. Give her a hug!"I hold the barrel of the gun to the back of his skull as he hugs her. They start having a brief and intimate conversation about his music's personal meaning to her. It's really quite a touching moment.

BLAM

Halfway through their little talk, I pull the trigger, covering her in her favorite artist's blood, bone, and brain matter. That's what I've never gotten about other criminals. Why kill someone when you just scar them for life?

"I've always been more of a Stones fan, anyway." My voice echoes throughout the stadium. Nobody knows what just happened. "Here's the deal, ladies and gentlemen:"I begin, sitting on the edge of the stage. "Reach down and feel the bottom of your chair. Oh, uh, can we get the house lights please?"Electricity courses through the venue as the lights warm up. "Thank you. Now, where was I? Oh. Your seats. Reach down and feel the bottoms of your chairs. You'll find a little slip of paper under each and every one of them."I ease my pocket watch out of my coat and hold it up to the camera.

"There are two colors of paper, and they have to do with a little game we're about to play. The object of the game is to survive. Unfortunately, you're not really playing. You're just the pieces. The other player is a little man in a cape and a cowl I like to call Batman. We've been playing for quite a while, but, tonight, it comes to an end. The pieces of paper you have will either be green or purple. In three hours and fifty-five minutes, if Batman hasn't made contact with us and shown us his face on that big ol' monitor behind me, I'll let anyone with a green slip of paper rush for the exits. After that, I'll leave and release a chemical toxin into the air. The lungs of anyone inside the building will slowly dissolve and you'll drown in your own fluids. If Batman does show his face, I'll still let the people with the green slips leave, but I'll stay... and I'll blow up the stadium."I stare straight into the camera.

"What'll it be, Batman? Condemn all these people to a painful death, and let me get away, all for the sake of saving face? Or, will you put me to my grave, and spare these folks some misery."I cackle again and address the audience. "By the way, folks. I didn't mention any rules. If you want a green slip and have a purple one, nothing is stopping you from taking it."

Every agreement is all about wording. That's why people get anihillated by giant interest rates. They don't think, they don't use their brains. I told the people with green slips they could run for the exits. Unfortunately for them, the exits are locked. Sealed shut and electrified. No, no. Nobody is getting out of here. This war I've waged? The only combatants are me and the bat. Nobody else.

"Game on, Batman."I say to the camera, holding my pocketwatch.
